downrigger motor

Recommended Posts

Okay.Got my fishlander electric downriggers mounted and wired up this weekend.Problem is that one works and the other doesn't.Bought them used and the guy swears(and I believe him) they both worked when he pulled them off his boat in Sept.Plugged it into the power supply that the one worked in to make sure it wasn't a problem with my wiring. Then I bypassed the up/down switch and wired it straight to the battery and nothing. It has a red light that goes on near the counter and that works fine.So the only thing left to do is to pull out the motor.Hope it the wiring inside and not a burnt out motor(not sure I can find a replacement. So my question is...What am I going to see when I pull the motor out?Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's a very very little man with big arms from pullin all that cable in there. He'll tell ya to take him to Screwy Louie's in Fair Haven which is a hospital for sick downriggers. :o

Sorry, that's all I could come up with.

zaphod, you might want to contact Mike Steffes at Warrior Lures. He was at Fishlander before they went belly up and I thought I remember reading somewhere that he can repair the fishlander riggers.

worth a shot anyways

ps, what you'll see when you pull the motor out is most likely a babelfish :)
