  2. I run 20lb fluorocarbon leaders.
  3. There is a 27 foot Pen Yan at my marina with a bad transom. The owner of the marina used to do stringers and transoms in the winter. I asked him what it would cost in today’s world to repair it and his answer shocked me. I hope your repair goes smoothly and isn’t crazy money.
  4. Also looking to have a transom replaced in the next year or two, any other places out there besides BW Customs?
  5. Selling my Sea ray, this boat has everything you need to start trout and salmon fishing. Bought a new boat last year and just too much to care for so selling the fishing boat. It’s been a great boat for fishing and family, perfect dual purpose boat it handles lady O very well. Interior is in great shape, with two sets of carpets one fishing and one for pleasure. This boat has been well maintained with new gimbal bearing, impeller, universal, steering rack and cable, Bluetooth marine stereo, prop and reconditioned prop for spare, it has dual CB and antenna. See photos for fish equipment but even more than displayed. Thanks for looking …
  6. Today
  7. BW Customs in Sodus. He does excellent work therefore he is always busy. You will probably have to wait a while. I had a swim platform rebuilt and had to wait 6 months just to get it in.
  8. For your Dipsy leader, which mono or fluoro test weight do you prefer, with paddle or spoon?
  9. Trust me - Ive spent many hours untangling the messes I've created. I got a 400 steel (both the steel and the braid backer) wrapped up in my wire dipsey and meat rig two weeks ago...braid is a special beast with the ability to wrap itself tightly around anything it comes in contact with...after about two hours of trying to sort it out I ended up with ~125' steel and most of the dipsey wire saved. Ive found that having a few key backups (I have doubles of each rod/reel set-up down below) helps to avoid frustration and lost time on the water - I just toss the tangled mess down below to deal with onshore and pull up something clean that I can get back in the water. I fish like **** when I am all pissed off trying to untangle my messes... If you'd like to come out with me sometime for Id love the help DM me if interested - I get out quite a bit!
  10. Will be out Saturday morning Pm sent with #
  11. Stupid me for thinking anyone in the world is actually honest, just bought a 93 baha 29ft and found out the transom has severe rot. I am inexperienced with that sort of thing. I asked the guy if it/transom was good he of course said yep its fine. We'll its not fine so now he is ghosting me rather than being a decent human and at least give me part of my money back to help pay for the repair. Does anyone know of a boat repair guy that won't charge a fortune to rebuild a transom? Pretty much screwed right now.
  12. Flying solo can be a lot of work but also a lot of fun. Wait till you get a double or even triple on. Had a triple on once and that was near heart attack time!
  13. Take a straight edge (cardboard or pc of wood) and hold alongside the shark from nose to tail. Over a few months of storing Herbies on their side, I've seen soft lead take a slight bend. Easy to check and eliminate.
  14. Nothing in close so "When in doubt, head out"

  16. If I ever had 20 hookups in a handful of hours during the middle of the day, I would sell my boat and everything else and call it. Last weekend I spent an hour trying to untangle a dipsey and a rigger setup that got twisted up when my autopilot freaked and started turning a circle. That was fun.

Anybody guess when algae will clear on Cayuga?
  24. At one time, I was using 12# pancake weights, and just to give me piece of mind, I bent the back fin to one side and the other weight to the other side, and I could see the difference in how far to the side the cable was running and never had them cross. Check and see if a fin has gotten bent, as that would cause your problem, and like others have recommended, switch sides with your weights.
  25. Cannon 4 inch downrigger pedestals Track mount Fits many downrigger paterns New in box 3 available $75 each Located in Pulaski Will ship on buyers dime
  26. The only problem I can think of with divers is too much drag on them, and they roll over and stop working. As far as getting deep with divers, is the Lite Bite slide diver has a 7 oz weight kit for going deep. I can get down to 65' or more with the stanDard weight and small ring, so I'm guessing the 7 oz weight and large ring would get you very deep. And you always have the option of using wire. But dipsy's, deeper divers, slide divers will all turn with just a deep diving crank bait. so your limited to what you can use with them.
