  1. Was set-up by 5:45 and trolling out of the river. Went though 50 atractor fly combos and tossed j-plugs and spoons at these tight lipped preditors. We took our only fish of the day at about 7am on a glow green j-plug off the rigger. It was an 8lb Norther Pike. Our next rip was on our 10 color pulling a glow green NK Mag. Got to the rod and no one home. The a screamer on the five color pulling a NK Wonderbread mag. Both of these hits came around 60fow. Finally, at the end of the day we trolled up the river to put the boat back on the trailer to have our wire on a 2.5 setting out 20' take a WHACK! We heard zip...zip...zip and then the rod went limp. We got snapped off. That fish took my Green dot SmartFish pulling my last A-TOM-MIK Glow Pro-Am fly. Tough day and my worst performance of the year. LOTS of fish out there, but not many got them going.
  2. Ill have this weekend to run it. Then Im afraid I'll have to wait till next year.
  3. I cant wait to run this! Only problem is i might have to wait till next Spring to actually see if it will perform as well as the spoon. So, what fly should go behind this?
  4. We put it there to slow them down for the camera. By no means do we plan to hunt over it.
  5. I think they are sharp. Bayliner had some troubles in the late 80's, but I see a lot of these boats ur talking about out on the water and people seem very pleased.
  6. I only use a shorter rod for my "chute" copper. Its a 7' Shimano TDR rod. I don't want the copper in the "air" behind the boat for fish fighting purposes. We don't reel it in when fighting fish, but we try to keep it to the opposite side of the boat. For the shorter length copper sections we Use the 9'6" Daiwa Heartlands. If I'm only running 1 copper down the chute its a 600 copper marked every 50', so I can adjust it on the fly. I have expanded my copper rods to just about every length. So I don't have to worry about only sending out a partial copper off the board. So, you want a copper rod? I am thinking that RJ and BV misread your post. You don't just want a rod, but a set-up. I tell all of my customers who want to get into copper fishing to get 1-600' set-up. Have it marked every 50'. This way you can select the right depth you want to fish rather than be limited to a 300 or a 400. With a 600' marked every 50' you can put a lure from 10' down to 130' down. That's versatility!
  7. I haven't mounted one since my first buck I shot. He wasn't really a mounter, but i wanted a deer on the wall. I kinda sorta wished I did last years archery buck, but I think i can do much better. My buddy does European mounts, so that's what all of mine have been made into.....and they are nice......but I want a nice shoulder mount. By the way.....if anyone wants a European mount and don't have the means to do it let me know. My buddy does them for a fairly reasonable price. Here are some examples.
  8. Here is the second pic.....and r u serious you cant see rack outside his ears? He is on the right hand side of the pic.
  9. OK, this camera has been in the same spot for well over a month. This is the only photo I have of him, but I'd say he is a shooter! He looks to be a main frame 8. The next pic is of his rear end so he was on a mission to the field for some grub. Weird hes just headin out there at first light????? Why not at dusk???? Its not like hes chasin does.
  10. We were excited to fish the last tournament of they year at the Oak only to find out about 8am that there were only 3 boats entered. So they canceled the tourney. Kinda hard to believe with the amount of traffic that was out there. I'm talking 40-50 boats. Anyway, we started off in about 75' and the screen progressively got better as we trolled on a NE heading. Once we hit 150-200 we could see all the big guys chillin down 125-150 in the water column. I'm thinkin......here's my program! Well, these guys weren't moving and didn't want to eat. We were about to head offshore when we got the call about the cancellation, so we figured that would be a waste of gas. So, instead we figured we would go in and look for BT's. We started in 30' and worked out to 100 with pee warm water. Never found less than 60 degrees and that was on the bottom on 125. So we headed back to port on a 200-300 fow troll. We set up for Kings again and WHAM! The 350 diver on a 1.5 takes off with a black Spinny/A-TOM-MIK Hammer fly. Just a juvee...10-12lbs. We would end up taking two skippies the rest of the day and pulled rods around 1:30. Sounded like a tough bite out there on this particular day. Only a couple of fish taken in the inside waters, and you had to be on a pod of fish offshore to get them going. Anyway, the screen looked good and it should be long before those fish make their way to the tribs around here in numbers.
  11. Hey guys...I spooled up some Mason 27lb leadcore this spring. I don't run core much except for spring and fall. Summer is usually copper time. Anyway i had lead poking through the sheath throughout the whole 10 colors. Finally, last weekend I had a fish hit the 10 color and when i went to snap it off the board my leadcore broke about 5" from the knot. I have my scotty's on the power pro, so it didn't break from a hard hit from having the release on the core.. I did notice some lead poking through the sheath when I let it out, but it has been like that and I wasn't in the mood to fix it....lazy.... Anyway, I called Mason up yesterday and she knew of the problem with their 27lb test right away. If you are experiencing this call them up and they will replace it for you as long as you send in the bad stuff. She, the lady who answered the phone, was great about the situation. Very good customer service!
  12. We have been using the Spro swivels for a couple of years now. They have been great. Aren't as expensive as the sampos either.
  13. Top of the fly to the top of the loop. Ditto what Gambler says. We have them from 20-26", but I try to stay between 22-24"
  14. Not an easy task Fishtix! Good job! I missed the Fall board unfortunately. I had placed a Salmon on the 2007 Fall, 2 on the 2008 Spring, and the 2008 Summer. I was bummed that I couldn't make the Fall 2008. Oh well!
  15. Matt.......that's way too far offshore for your liking bro! Whats a matter? BT didn't want to play?
  16. Hey whats up man. How can I forget a bunch of plastered policemen from Maine? LOL You guys got my ol' man lit up! As for the size shirt I wear it doesn't matter. I'm not gonna wear a Yankees shirt or a Red Sox shirt! That so called sport you call Baseball is BORING! I cant believe someone would want to play 160 games and not get to toss an elbow at someone or knock them out. Real man sports have hitting and fouls. Actually, my ol' man and bro r the Yankee's fans. I just catch all the fish for them.
  17. On nice days your gonna LOVE the bridge. On rough days your gonna wish it was never there!
  18. I have my fly bodies that are un-rigged stored in plano 3700 boxes. The rigged one hang upside down in my head. Hanging them upside down maintains their puffiness. This is a pain in the arse on a smaller boat. So what I would recommend is to keep them that way when storing them in tubes.
  19. Brian.....Micky's went to a kid out of Port Bay. Him and my brother are getting their licenses this fall.
  20. Good job guys! I kow it is very rewarding when everything comes together. Im sure those memories will last for a long time.
