  1. Thanks Eric! I know you've been wanting to get up here, and I havent forgot about you. I have a line on some Niagara River fishing. Just you wait!
  2. How bout you give me $250 and I'll save you $750!
  3. yup! Those sharks cant get too deep now. I watched them down 250 all of May come afternoon off the bar.
  4. I took my first Drift Boat trip with Chasin Tail Adventures on Wednesday. I have never really steelhead fished other than the lifting I did when I was young and dumb. After the trip I had on Wednesday I am HOOKED! I would HIGHLY recommend this guide service. He knew all the holes to hit and does this EVERY DAY September-December. For all you lake guys out there that LOVE to see a wire diver hit you will love the method used in a drift boat called "pluggin." It's a method of hanging your lures right in the face of a steelhead as you slowly drift down stream. Kinda like a back troll. The steelhead love this method! OK, lets talk about the trip. We put the boat in at first light, and at the first spot Andy hands me the float rod. While he is telling me what to do and look for the float goes under. I lift up and "FISH ON" and very quickly "fish off!" I guess you have to set the hook, which is a tough thing to do with a 10' noodle rod. We fish a little more and nothing. We finally make it to a hole and we start whackin them. Much to my surprise in that hole I landed an Atlantic Salmon about 10 inches long. What a pretty fish! We go a little further and we do some more fish. Float fishing is fun, but I heard of this method called pluggin and I ask if we can do it. Once we got to a part of the river that Andy says was worthy of the method we deployed the rods. It didn't take long and we were 0 for 3. We get out of that hole and float fish for a while and then right before we end the day we plug another spot. We landed 2 real nice fish out of there using the pluggin method. Total on the day was 7 for 13. Biggest was estimated around 9 or 9.5 pounds. The temp went from 40 to 25 throughout the day, which from my understanding is not the prime time for steelhead to eat. Here are some pics: The Boat: The Guide: My best three on the day:
  5. I had 2 Okuma Magda Pro's and 4 Accudpeth Plus 27's for my BT set-ups. Just want everything to match.
  6. When i was younger and my father was taking me out with the guys I started tapping up spoons in between fish. I'm sure he was like WTF! But he never told me I couldn't. Anyway, it seems like all the spoons I tapped up eventually caught a fish, so it was very rewarding to me. So, the year that the ESLO went from 4 days to 11 days in the Spring one of my contraptions caught us the Grand Prize fish on Friday and the 1st place fish on Saturday. If the ESLO would have stayed at 4 days we would have had both, but we eventually got beat out during the week and the following weekend. SO, I showed Billy how to paint spoons in MS Paint a week or two ago and I'm sure you can imagine the silly patterns we came up with. I did, however, paint up a mock version of that spoon I mentioned above. I hope to have NK or someone else paint one up. Its the blue one n the right. Mine was a silver blank spoon, but I want to get that and another version of it with a super glow base coat. Here are some other combos I did up:
  7. I have played with them all! It took me about a year to decide what I wanted to do. One thing that I didn't like with Traxtech, Berts, Big John, and Vector was you were limited to certain positions. Where ever there was a groove or hole was the position you HAD to have. When I saw the Cisco's in action I said now there is the ULTIMATE rod holder. It locks in ANY position you want it to. On top of that it swivels 360 degrees. There isn't a position it cant go in! One recommendation I do have, if your boat allows, is to put them on a Traxstech track. It just gives you that much more flexibility. On some of the older models I have sen some of the hardware in the mount start to rust. A call to Cisco and that problem is taken care of. Recently one of the partners died from cancer. So the owner has some issues meeting deadlines and if you want a colored rod holder he waits till he has a minimum order for that color before he produces it. So, what I am trying to say is if you like these I would put your order in now. Below are some pictures of mine in action. I am in the process of sending them my Scotty dual rod holder mount to see if they can fabricate something for me. If and when that comes about I'll be sure to post pictures. In the first pic you are looking at (from left to right) copper off the board, high wire, low wire, and the corner rigger rod. Looking at the two wires there is no way any other rod holder would allow you to keep both of them that low. Again, becasue you are limited to their hole or groove. Good luck in your endeavor! its a one time purchase so buy what works for you and remember to allow your decision to be flexible in the future if you want to add on.
  8. You gonna go catch some of them fall SM's. LOL
  9. I think I'm getting a PA license and extending my hunting season next yr! Nice deer!
  10. Are you talking about the Finatic that was out of the Port of Rochester?
  11. Get the dual transducer. Most guys on the lake get it and run them simultaneously. What one misses the other will catch and they will take you from pounding the shore out to the middle of the lake and mark fish. I seen Lowrance came out with some new HD (High Def) stuff for 2009. Looks real nice! Don't skimp on the power either. This is a one time purchase that should last you for many years.
  12. I have always went against the grain on this one. I have my wires cranked down so I don't hear any creep. I'm not saying I have them super tight either. Just a little bit tighter than a slow creep. When the rod starts pumping I run to it and start turning the drag back until I hear drag coming out. Then I grab the rod out of the holder. With a flasher and fly behind a dipsey there is a lot of drag, and I hate to hear that creeping noise. Could this cause me to loose a fish or two? We will never know! BUT, the guys with the loose drags loose fish too.
  13. Kev, Do pimples grow on a fish's ass? I usually just reel 'em in and toss 'em back. Never looked at the anus! LMAO
  14. I would get with FLXTroutman that roams this part of LOU often. He crushes fish on Canadaigua all year long. He uses wire dipseys and copper along with riggers. He a very versatile fisherman and Im willing to bet hed help ya out by showing you first hand come spring.
  15. Aqua view cameras can go down on a rigger, but its separate from the cable and you have to hand line the cable down and up. It will add to your blowback also.
  16. Thats an AMAZING BT! The colors are very pretty.
  17. Thanks! Same to you and everyone else!
