  1. We got out early with hopes of getting a good inside bite. We knew with a light crew we weren't running 8 miles out again given the conditions. The picture was spotty until we got down east a tad ,and there we found bait with fish mixed in as well. We worked 120-140fow most of the morning. Sea sick Waddlers were our #1 lure today on our 100 rigger, which happens to be the set-up that took a 30.03 Salmon for us today. He hit the NK Mag Waddler 5' above the 28. Other rigs today were the 42nd combo on a wire dipsey, White/Purple Spinny pulling a purple mirage A-TOM-MIK fly, #3 Green glow j-plug on the 300 copper, and a hammertime spinny pulling a glow pro am A-TOM-MIK fly on the 600 copper. We didnt do numbers today, but a big 'ol fish makes up for half the bites ya been getting. Thats our first fish on the Fall LOC leaderboard. Two weekends left to go!
  2. Yup, good job bud and thanks for helping me dock. You guys had a good class of fish down there it looks like.
  3. Those were 3-5's with an occasional 6 rolling through. The camera never shows wave height all that well. Anyway, it wasnt fun going into them and going with them went too fast especially becasue fish were flying on a following sea troll.
  4. Yeah Bruce! Good job representing LOU. Looks Like Matt French from the Misdemeanor boat did as well.
  5. We hit the water off of the Oak around 6:30. We tried the inside waters again for 30 minutes until they dried up and managed to loose a good one on the wire Green double crush glow SmartFish with a Green Crinkle A-TOM-MIK fly, and we landed a skippy off the rigger that took a NK 28 Suplerglow NBK. We dropped in at the 27N line and worked out till the 30-31 and had a slow pick. At one point all four wires took off with the low wires out 125 and 150 on a .5 setting, and the high wires out 200 and 225 on a 3 setting. Riggers were firing, but there wasn't a HOT color until late morning when our NK Copper NBK's started to fire on the riggers down 50-100, and on our wires out 225-300. I guess the fish went a little deeper than expected for us at least. The last rig we had go was our 300 copper with the same #3 Mongoose colored J-Plug. We ended the day with 19 bites, and we landed 15 of them. Only had 2 big guys on throughout the day, and we dropped them both. Nothing for the leaderboard today, but we will be out again on Sunday morning to give it a shot. We had some nasty conditions to deal with out there working the 28-30N lines. Here is a cool video I captured from driving on the flybridge.
  6. We bought 2 Moulltrie D40's. They ran about $100 bucks from Cabelas. We let the soak for a little over a week. They require 6 D cell batteries and we had them set to take 2 quick shots, and then wait a minute before it would take anymore. We choose the highest resolution the camera had to offer. One cam had a mother and fawn blow it up and it took 84 pictures and killed the a batteries in about 3-4 days. The other had 24 pics on it and was still functioning when we got there. All in all we are very pleased and now this has turned into an addiction! Gas is gonna kill us with an hour and a half drive each way to the hunting land....lol.
  7. My reference basing that there were more fleas for longer on the east end was becasue they have warmer water for much longer than we do on the west end for the most part. However, its just my opinion. No one can actually prove it.
  8. Id say that rod was dead for a while!
  9. This is the second season on the factory tip for me. 9'6" Daiwa Heartland rod. Now that you say something I am going to check it tonight. I havent even looked at it to see the wear from a season and a half. I will report back this weekend.
  10. You cananadia's need to stop inventing color combos! Your driving my bank account to broke! Im gonna need to work overtime this winter, and I refuse to do that!
  11. This might be a tad too late, but here is my two cents. I have run the Ande's, the Silverthread, the stren, and the Berkley's. They are all great lines. Each line has its pros and cons. I now run a line out of the west coast called McCoy Mean Green. I believe one captain and one rec are running it out of Rochester now, and I know of a captain running it out of Sandy now. I have heard no complaints! We run the 25lb and when the fleas are at thier worst you get a smidge here and there. Im talking peak when every 30 minutes you have to pull your wires becasue a 1-2' is riding in front of the dipsey. The week of the Oswego Pro/Am was pretty bad during practice and we didnt bring up any fleas on our rigger rods. Its still a round line so there is no weird lay on the reel. Its not cheap, but it doesnt frey easy, and has a great life span. The owner passed away last year from cancer, and in his will it was stated that the recipe could never be sold to Pure fishing/berkley/stren/whatever.....lol If your really into looking for areat line it should be at the top of your list. Just by looking at my reports you can see i beat the heck out of it all year on kings!
  12. Nice report Billy. That took some grapes to buy 3 lines only to find one that worked. You can go on a site like this and ask guys what to buy to avoid the fleas, but you will get 100 diferent answers. If you dont run a test like yourself then you will realy never know. Some guys on the west end have no clue how bad the fleas get on the east end, and other guys just arent on the water as much as others to see peak periods. Good job, thanks for the results, and good fishing.
  13. We teamed up with some members of the Irondequoit Bay fish and game club for a little tourney today. We figured if we wanted to catch fish then we needed to be off Point Breeze (Oak Orchard). We checked the inside water and took a shot on a Sea Sick Waddler down 70' on the corner rigger. He got into a wire and he left with one of my spoons! The picture dried up real quick because of the traffic, so we picked up and headed for the 27N line. We stop there and start setting lines to have the middle rigger parked at 50 fire. It ended up being a 10lb king that we threw back. He took a Dreamweaver Glow Forggy SS. That spoon would take fish throughout the day just like the previous few trips out. Another hot spoon was our NK copper NBK. We had it on the rigger between 60 and 80 and it took our majors, and some great steelhead. 300' copper pulling a #3 J-plug in a Mongoose color was another HOT rig. That took 5 shots throughout the day, and we dropped a screamer on it towards the end of the day which would have been part of a triple header. Our low/deep wires were firing at 150 out on a .5 setting pulling Kelly Green Spinnies and A-TOM-MIK Wiggler's. Our high wires out 200-225' on a 2.5-3 setting were going with Dreamweaver green sparkle SS's and orange Yecks. We had another 20 fish day that was anchored by a 25lb Salmon and a 12lb steelie. We ended up taking 2nd and 3rd in the Salmon division, and 1st in the steelhead division. I have to loose some weight so these big fish can look big! When that fish hit the deck we though it was high 20's! Boy can these fish fool ya, and I have been doing this for 20+ years! Green was definitely the color today!
  14. Nice! Im glad you had a good experience on the west end.
  15. Oh stop Bob! Like a little waterspout could pick up one of them big ol' Trojans with ur big butt in it!
  16. I think they are coming out of temp a little earlier this year though. It may be due to the flows from the rivers becasue of all the rain we have been getting. Normally 3-4week of August is staging kings time.....IMHO. Irregardless.....nice fish Skeiner!
  17. Good stuff guys! The other factor is 1k for a full Bear mount vs half of that to mount the Antelope. Goin Deep - I have heard both sides of the story as far as Maine Bear are concerned, but more towards the worse than better side.
  18. If you had to choose would you hunt bear in Maine or Prong Horn out west? Anyone have any good prong horn trips that theyhave been on?
