Im sorry Jerry! I cut and pasted the report form my website, and people would have no idea who a Runnin Rebel is. So...... I think myself along with 14+ boats would like to thank Master Captain Jerry Felluca for broadcasting across channel 72 on a marine VHF radio that there was A LOT of action out in 300-400' of water right off sandy creek west. Jerry is the "friend" I mentioned in the above post. He is "the man" out of Sandy Creek West when it comes to offshore fishing. Jerry....is that better buddy?

What a difference a day can make! We started in shallow (40-70 fow) and there was a decent picture. We never moved a rod and worked West/North West out to about 150. Got a call from a friend stating that we needed to head out to the stomping grounds of the prior two days as the picture and fish were everywhere. Well, he wasn't lying! We got out there and there was more bait than I have ever seen in my 20+ years of trolling. It seemed as if there was a bait pile somewhere on the fish finder at all times. We didn't mark a ton of fish, but they were there. We got out there a little later than we should have, but we still managed 8 or 9 bites. Mostly steelies with a 2yr old Salmon tossed in the mix. Lures today were all spoons! Dreamweaver SS "Da Shiznit" took a few fish. This is turning into a nice steelie lure! Stinger Orange Crush Stingrays off our 250 wires on 2.5 took a few. Watermelon NK 28 took a fish as did a Dreamweaver SS Area 51. Our riggers were parked anywhere between 30-70 down depending on where the boat and fish were marked. There was a better class of steelies out there today. Nothing into the double digits, but some fat 7-8 pounders. Besides the floating car pic I posted in the Open discussion forum we also had some fun on the radio out of sandy today. I can say i laughed pretty hard just BS'n with the great guys out of sandy creek. I also tried to trick Jerry, from Runnin Rebel, into taking a picture of my boat while my crew stood in the back of the boat with the water baloon sling shot. It was my fault we didnt get close enough to hit him. Then a guy who I just know from fishing out there took us serious about taking pictures of our boat and wants to pull up next to me to take pictures for me. Little did he know about the water baloon sling shot. Jerry got a kick out of that radio transmission. Well, lucky for him I didnt know him and we didnt launch any. But man was he close enough! Maybe next time Whaler one!!!!!

Headed in at the end of the day....i was like WTF?

Definetly not on fire.....BUT on the way in today it looked like things might be setting up!!!! Lots of bait and a ton of BIG hooks hanging down 150 over 200. Temp was there too. Maybe a good morning bite inside tomorrow. Anyway heres how I fared the last two days: 8/29 - We started out in front of Sandy creek around 6am. Setup in 30fow due to heavy fog and a lot of boat traffic. We trolled north and only took 1 shaker on the 125 wire pulling a NK Mulatto mag. Once out around 300 fow the picture on our furuno started to look a lot better. It didn't take long after that to find a group of fish that wanted to play. We would take another 9 bites ranging from our 150' wires to 10 colors of lead, but most fish came off our riggers. On our cores we had a couple of fish take a black spinny pulling an A-TOM-MIK Hammer fly. Our wires would each take a fish. One was pulling a NK Mag Copper NBK and the other was with a NK 28 Coyote. Our riggers were firing with NK 42nd spoons, both mags and 28's, and Dreamweaver SS glow froggies. Two salmon, one which was about 13lbs, and the rest were nice steelies. 8/30 - Well, I thought yesterday was tough but today topped that! I guess you cant always take 15-25 bites, but I sure did take those days for granted. We went 6 for 7 all steelhead, biggest being around 8lbs, with a skipper king tossed into the mix. We figured it would be worth it to skip the inside waters and head right out to the spot we fished yesterday. We stopped short by about a half a mile and the screen was lit up! Fish from 30-150 down. I set up half a Salmon program and half a Steelhead program. By the time I was set up and we turned on that screen it was gone! So, I quickly re-rigged for steelies. The first rod to fire was my 10 color pulling that Hammertime Spinny with an A-TOM-MIK Pro/Am Glow fly. I went to release it off the otter boat and the leadcore breaks 4 inches from the knot. Well there goes that one! We waited till almost 11am till our next bite and we had a very slow pick till we quit around 2:30. The other 10 color would fire with a black spinny/ A-TOM-MIK Hammer fly. Then the wire out 150 on a 1.5 setting started throbbing with a shaker steelie that took a white spinny pulling an A-TOM-MIK Hammer fly. Then the corner riggers took over. One with a Dreamweaver SS called "Da Shiznit" and a Dreamweaver SS Area 51. Our center rigger would take a small king with a Dreamweaver SS Glow Froggy. I went through more spoon colors today trying to find something they wanted to eat that it was frustrating. Talked to a guy at the Oak and there were some majors in that tight water all day from right out front and to the east. He pulled a couple, but it wasnt fast and furious. So maybe thats a sign of things to come.

Dont pull me into this RAY! LOL That Billy V character sure left a trace of FH in Sandy today! Ever since he stepped foot west of the Genny fishing has gone down! I dont know....maybe im looking into this WAY too much.

I ran my flashers 20-30' back off the ball this weekend.

I always switch to the furthest hole from the one that comes pre-set. But thats just me. I'm sure there will be multiple answers to this one.

I'm surprised! I thought you guys would support the "grand slam" concept. There were a lot of 3 fish tourneys on the lake this summer. The Oak is struggling to hit 20 boats with theirs, and there are a lot of boats fishing out of there right now. I thought the opportunity to show the diverse fishing off Rochester would be something to help draw people to our waters. I mean you can really go off Rochester at any point and get into any 4 of the species. It would also make people more diverse by having them fish for those others species. But whatever format would produce the best showing is what we should lean towards. I like keeping it simple like Steve said, and he has way more experience under his belt than I do when it comes to fishing out there.

So, just to spark a discussion we were thinking about how we could put on a tournement in Rochester with a format unlike the rest of the tourneys poppin up around the lake. So, a few options a few of us tossed around are on a poll. If you choose other please share your idea. The three biggest (seems to be the norm) The six biggest The Grand Slam would be something like 1 of each species (BT, LT, Salmon, and Steelie), or maybe 1 of each and a fifth your choice?

BTW....i made sure there were no boats around when we started fishing for them, so who saw me? I made sure I put the flashy thingies away when we came in, and all the fish were already cleaned. So, did I blow myslef in or did Jax run his big mouth?

Yeah, thats because back in the day Lakers were bonus fish in the Pro-Ams. Hence the last time I used them.

Anyone with the clear dipsey's having any issues with them cracking and the weight falling out of them? I have had 3 do it to me this year that were brand new in the spring. I use Black, Purple Metalic, Clear, GLow froggy, and glow black cracked.

8/23 - We headed out early in the AM. Action started immediately with the first fish taking a NK Sea Sick Waddler Mag parked at 50' on the corner rigger. Next fish took a Dreamweaver SS Daves Salmon Slapper down 40' on the middle rigger. Both of these fish were skippies. Next our wire set on a 2.5 setting out 125 with a Black Spinny/A-TOM-MIK Hammer fly went. This ended up being a 10lb Laker. We re-set and the same wire takes off! After a little battle we boated a 15lb short/FAT female Salmon. A short while later the other corner rigger fires down 45' with a NK 42nd spoon. This was an acrobatic 8lb steelie. Our other wire took off shortly there after with a White on White SmartFish pulling a White Halo A-TOM-MIK fly. Another short/FAT 15lb female Salmon. The last fish we would boat was a 22lb Salmon that hit a White on White SmartFish pulling an Ultra Glow Green A-TOM-MIK fly. He hit our 60' corner rigger like a freight train. The rod never came up. Throughout the day we also dropped a screamer on the 300 copper pulling a Hammertime Spinny and an A-TOM-MIK Glow Pro-Am fly. This has been a super set-up the last month for us off the copper. We dropped a small fish on the 10 color that hit a NK Mag Purple Thunder. While pulling rods we found out we were dragging a 12" Steelie that found our NK 42nd spoon, but couldn't release it form the rigger. All this action took place in 50-100' of water from Sandy to the Pump House. After we dropped off our charter we headed back out for 3-4 hours of derby fishing. The bite wasn't as good, and we went 3 for 3 with all 8-10lb Salmon. We tried the deep bite that some guys found productive in the AM, but we only managed two fish out there. The first one came 60' down on the corner rigger pulling that same White on White SmartFish w/ a Ultra Glow Green A-TOM-MIK fly. Second one took the 300' copper with that hot rig I mentioned above....Hammertime Spinny and an A-TOM-MIK Glow Pro-Am fly. We trolled back into the area we fished in the AM to find our third fish on the 300 copper. 13 bites today on a day where temps were ice cold in the AM from a lake flip. 8/24 - Well, yesterday was tough. But today was tougher! We had high hopes of a big guy considering some slobs were taken between Rochester and Oak Orchard the past few days. Again we tried the short water to match yesterdays bite, but we never moved a rod. We tried the 50' line from Sandy to the Pump House, and then the 70' line back to Sandy. TONS of bait, but not many fish. We soon turned it north to look for some active fish. We hit 250 fow and rods started to pop. Our low diver went off first with a Black Spinny/A-TOM-MIK Hammer fly. Very soon after that the high diver went with Dreamweaver SS Glow Froggy. We landed this one and it was a 2yr old Salmon. The same low diver took off again and we boated another 2yr old. Next we got the 45 rigger to go with NK Glow Froggies. That would take a few fish, but we seemed to have a case of the dropsy's. We got a 42nd spoon to go on the 35 rigger only to loose our only steelie of the day right at the back of the boat. Our copper rig with the same set-up as yesterday took two shots. We ended up going 5 for 10 from 6am-12pm. Then the crew decided on trying to get a Laker on the leaderboard. We put down our Hammerhead cow bells and the fish just started flying in the boat. We ran a chrome/Mtn. Dew set, and a chrome/Blue set with peanuts behind them. Fish ranged from 5lbs to 12lbs. My boat is now covered in Lake O Laker Slime. Does anyone know how to get this stuff off?

You know thats why they call them rumors! Most of the time they arent true. However, this time you heard right. My crew wanted a chance at a leaderboard fish, and we knew the Salmon werent co-operating. They have a cottage on Keuka and fish for Lakers all the time. So, they decided to go Lake Trout fishing! I just supplied them with the necessary materials.

You guys can count me in! Im pretty sure i can get some of my sponsors on deck. I would love to help with something like this. I would say that we have pleanty of room in the river to hold this right in the parking lot at the beach, so people walking the piers or the boardwalk can see what we have here.

Id rather watch your wire rod arch. Make sure she is bent over!

I went to get mine at 10:30 today at the town hall and the "system" was backed up!

So, I checked my heartlands that have had wire line on them since the spring of 2007. I fish Kings basically all summer becasue I follow thier migration, so these rods take a pounding. Not even an indication of a groove starting to form in the tip.

Bob......do you guys even have any fish down there? AND you ant beat me if your on here threatening me buddy!

I have tried to get it into a couple of tackle shops, but since its a line with little popularity in this part of the US its tough. Your best bet would be to order it from them online or another tackle shop online.
