  1. Whats wrong with that? Aren't I allowed to? I mean I did catch a rare fish. Too bad it wasn't 10 pounds or else it would be going on my wall!
  2. Gorilla Tough Berkley Downrigger Rods. 8'6" Medium Action 12-30lb line 1/2-2 1/2 oz 2pc Foam Handle These are very good looking rods. I almost want to use them myself, but I am a Daiwa man. I want to stay consistent on my boat, and that means ALL Heartlands. Price tag on each rod reads $69.99. Make me an offer I cant refuse! There are two of them for sale (by my uncle) so any offers have to go through him. These are BRAND new. Buyer pays shipping.
  3. Jax has them on his camera and I am awaiting them.
  4. Good stuff guys. The only other boat out our way had similar results. I guess the snotty waves gave them lures some action.

  6. Jax's Lund. Big boat cant go in till they lift the bridge on April 1st. Bass boat needs a part for the jackplate, so its pulled apart right now.
  7. Well, we worried about the weather report of 1-3' waves out of the NW late last night, but we gave it a try anyway. Jeremy met my brother and I down at the Bay around 8am. Waves were bearable, and the fishing was HOT! We finally got into the fish a little East of Irondequoit and it didn't stop till we hit Hedges. Final count was 15 for 18. Tally was 1 Atlantic, 2 Rainbows, 12 Browns. Biggest Brown was close to 10 pounds. The Atlantic was the surprise of the day. It was my second ever, and first in the open Lake. The water ranged in color depending on where you were. The overcast sky and water color made it a great day for natural colors, and that was what they wanted. Water temps ranged from 37-40 degrees. 2 rigger bites with all the rest coming off the big boards.
  8. My 600 copper setting is definitely a 8-9 o'clock setting. I look forward to seeing the video on this setting. In all honesty these things sort of fell into my lap. I received them when we won the Orleans Pro-Am in 2007. I tossed a white on white flasher out there this spring becasue I couldn't find a Spin Doctor. BANG! Derby fish! Then the weekend after that another one on the leaderboard from the SmartFish. After it took our Summer leaderboard fish I was hooked. There is just something different about this product. There probably is a greater learning curve with the SmartFish than with any other flasher, but one learning curve that's well worth it.
  9. I had some great success with these flashers over the past year. Here is some video of them in action at two different settings. These were conducted in a test tank. all variables were taken out except the setting on the flasher. Check it out! Here is an 11:30 setting: Here is a 4 o'clock setting: More settings to come!
  10. I almost forgot! We were trolling up the Genny this past fall and I had my wire out 15 0r 20' and a fish hit the thing and all I heard was zit...zit....nothing! He hit so hard he snapped my 30lb wire. Rod went straight, and it stayed in the holder. As for planer board fishing I would suggest it becasue I have head horror stories of those planer lines poppin' rods out of holders.
  11. We were thinking about heading down that way. Good thing we didn't. Hey, at least you made it out!
  12. Nice job guys! Its on from here on out!
  13. Did you guys check out the hump on the fish in picture 2? Weird!
  14. We got a late start on Sunday due to the 4-12 hour days I put in at work prior to Sunday. I needed a little sleep! We stopped short of Shipbuilders creek and started to cast. First thing I noticed was the decent water color, but more importantly the water temperature was a few degrees warmer than last week. So, hopes were high! We casted spoons and stickbaits down the shoreline with no hits or follows. I made the decision to start trolling. We put out a few small in-line boards and a couple of flat lines and down the shore we headed. Right as we got into the cove East of Shipbuilders creek FISH ON! IT was our first fish of the day and it was our smallest fish of the day. We trolled a little bit further without a hit, and I made the decision to head down to 4 mile creek. We pull up and the water still looks good. We found 37 degree water outside the mouth and once in the creek it was 38. Not a touch, which was really surprising. So, again the decision to troll was tossed out and accepted by the crew. We put the lines in the water and headed back West. From 4 mile creek to shipbuilders we were able to put 5 more fish in the boat, and we also lost one. It was a great end to a slow start! Black and silver off brand stickbait was the hot bait for us pulling 6 bites, and its brother in a goby pattern took one. Reports from some friends said they had as good or better luck trolling from sun up. Its starting guys, so gear up and lets go whack some fish! Here are the pics from Sunday:
  15. I guess its a possibility. I've been fishing Lake O for over 20 years and I have never had it happen to me. But, I would imagine it only takes one instance for you to protect your rods and reel like that.
  16. Hey Nick congrats on getting married. Better you than me! LOL Anyway...if you want to save some coin that new 246 is a prettier version of the Bayliner Ciera 2452. That rig was around for a while, and there are a TON of them online for sale. See ya in Wilson!
  17. I have a pearl front with a black back Yeck that has its times. Just about any spoon will catch a fish or two. Its the ones that catch more that you want to continually put in the strike zone. All the rest are for days when the fish have lock jaw. Well, at least on my boat. What am I talkin about! After a day of fishing I have prolly went through 25-30 spoon colors and 10-15 flasher/fly set-ups!
  18. This is a very sad day for all who fish Lake Ontario. I know I have reaped the benefits from his website, and in some way his tactics he developed on Lake O. My respects go out to his family.
  19. At the boarder it says passports will be enforced July 1st. So you should be good.
  20. Brown Trout.....troll light spoons and stickbaits. I wouldn't pass up the Smallmouth bite either. They will start to get on beds in May, and that's a great area for Smallmouth. Try pitching tubes or tossing spinnerbaits around to entice some of them.
  21. Gottcha!
  22. Sure was! Especially after the cop nabbed me for an unregistered trailer on the way there! I told Jeremy as we were driving there that I forgot to register it for 2009, and that I wanted to keep the trailer backed into the water while we were fishing. Well, we didn't have to worry about that! Not 5 minutes later here comes Mr. Trooper. Oooooooooooo, and to top it off when he pulled the trailer put of the water I noticed the license plate wasn't there. On bass boat trailers it tends to bend a lot from the constant in and out. Well, when we got back i fished it out with a net. You guys know....typical shake down!
