  1. Nice job! I love his proud smile. A great day with his Dad, I am sure.
  2. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Apt. Sea 2 ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 8/20 Time on Water: 3 hours Weather/Temp: Clear Wind Speed/Direction: NW Waves: 1 or less Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 5 Total Boated: 2 Species Breakdown: Coho and Steelie Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Not much to report other than a nice night on the water with friends from LOU. Started in 110' and worked out to 175' or so. Best screen in 135-150'. Narrow band of temeperature down about 95 to 110' but marks were all over screen with pre staging fish. Had majors on rigger rod and dipsey that we couldn't keep on. Did manage a fat coho and a nice steelie. Steelehead on a silver backed spook. Think other fish was on NBK but not positive- I let my experienced crew handle that one. Not fast and furious but nice night, good company and the dream of catching the big one.
  3. If I had the choice the radio would go overhead, FF and probe display on the dash as you will look at them non stop. I will defer on the GPS, I think either place but I would put on my dash. My 2 cents.
  4. Just snapped another Heartland...I used to like them.
  5. Thanks for all the thoughts, guys. I have trolled without my 3 kids for 18 years with the exception of one trip my son went on when he was about 12. I never could interest them and it has always been just something "Dad does". I now have a bigger boat and to them it is suddenly more than fishing and being able to bring some friends is the real allure. This trip was really rewarding because this is the "independant" child that everyone seems to get one of. She is a great kid but always more interested in doing stuff with her friends than with her old man. For her to have fun and success in the same trip made the day really special.
  6. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Apt. Sea 2 ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 8/8 Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Took Wednesday off and fished both morning and evening, came in mid day to avoid a passing squall and switch crews. Fished a little west in 240' in the am. Temp was deep at about 110' . Spooks took 5 hits. Glow green nuclear and green tourney fly on the dipseys took a couple too. Took 3 sixteen year olds on the boat who never fished before so we wound up losing quite a few while they got the hang of it but managed a 28 lber, a 22 lber and a sweet 12 lb steelie. My daughter now understands why I fish and cant wait to go again. Not bad for her first salmon. In the evening we went back out with a couple of buddies and I had a blast on a nice flat lake. Nice not having to be the guy doing all the line setting, had some drinks, pizza and wings and watched the rods fly. We are damn lucky to be able to live on this lake and be fortunate enough to enjoy it.
  7. Hearing the same thing from lots of the guys this year. I think we are definitely being tested by these bigger, stronger fish this year. What we used to get away with may not get it done this year. Frustrating losing tackle, but having some great fights. Funny how we dont hesitate to replace it though.
  8. Way to go Jason. .....guess I better get the gaff off my boat! Found it the other day stowed under the couch from the old salt days on my boat.
  9. Without hesitation, the best unit available now. I had old unit and was very unhappy. Switched to x4 and was ecstatic.
  10. Anthony, I would be glad to go grab the one off my old boat....not sure my buddy would appreciate that though. Sorry to hear about the EZ Steer- punishment from the Lake Gods for you catching so many fish this year?
  11. Sadly no. Running joke that my buddy doesnt have a scale on his boat....I will be buying one for him now!
  12. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Just Fishin' ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 7/6 Time on Water: 6-10 am Weather/Temp: Clear 80s Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: less than 1' Surface Temp: Location: Off I Bay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 10 Total Boated:8 Species Breakdown: 5 kings, 2 lakers and 1 brown Hot Lure: anything green Trolling Speed: Down Speed: 2.8-3.0 Boat Depth: 160 Lure Depth: 70 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS On the water early for a pre-work day jaunt. Reports have been too good not to get out. Did a 15 lb king on first pass over 160' on a north troll so we threw a mark in the GPS. Ran out to 200' with no other hits so we turned around. Went back in to 160 foot depth and probe was reading 57 degrees down 60 foot and 48 degrees down 70! Hit the rest of the fish within 1/4 mile of the original mark all on north or south trolls. 2 kings in the low 20s, lost one good one that did a dos-e-do around the rigger cable. Took a blast on the 200' dipsey with 42 second paddle and green fly that ran out to 505 feet before I could turn the fish. 25 minutes later I have my personal best summer fish in the boat. (No, I am not in the summer derby ) I was stunned by the thickness to this fish and how he continued to fight all the way to the back of the boat. Couple lakers and a brownie mixed in for good measure. More of a dipsey bite than riggers. Green was the color with 4 different paddles, all with various green flies, taking fish. Lone rigger king was caught on a gator. Great morning on the water in my old boat- much dirtier than when I had it (Tom, you knew I had to say that)- but glad to be invited and catch some fish. Couple pictures with me struggling to hold this brute up due to some tired arms. Despite the number of photos the fish was revived and swam away for another lucky fisherman. ====================
  13. can we get your mug off your posts now and put his picture up instead? Great job.
  14. WOW! That was very professionally done. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Finally got out on friends boat after reading such great reports for weeks. Fished 7-10:30 off The Cross in 40-60'. 20+ lb king off the planer board on a stick bait got us started. Real nice fight. Did pick up a fat Laker by mistake on an NBK and lost a brute of a king (didn't see him though) on the NBK again. Also had a steelie scream right through the wire diver line and into the downrigger cable and then headbutt the boat before spitting the lure. Couple other releases. Not fast and furious in the east wind but still nice to be out.
  16. Irondequoit lake shore has no accumulation. Lake roared all night.
  17. For those of you who have boats with bimini tops please keep a real close eye on the weather. May 7, 1989 we got 12" of snow in the Rochester area and a lot of boat tops collapsed. Expensive fix to replace canvas and supports for just a few minutes of prep time. Not sure the snow will materialize as predictied, but should keep an eye on it.
  18. Bobber, God Bless you for understanding the issues Kaden faces and recognizing what makes your son truly happy. I have never heard a better reason to fish! Enjoy.
  19. Good for you! Best of luck, and, welcome.
