Great accomplishment. Congratulations. Now I know who to talk to about improving my Brown Trout program....

Just keep watching the fishing posts and you'll get a heads up on where the fishing action is leading up to your trip. There are several wineries with dockage mid lake. Great way to do the wine tour is by boat and some have bistros so you'll be able to grab a bite to eat. The ladies will love it. Most if not all are pet friendly so if your bringing your best friend with you you'll be able to take them along to O'Malley's and the wineries. If you want to send me a bottle of Cayuga Lakes best red I'll make this book available for your trip......

That lake does have some nice brown's in it. Don't know anyone that jigs them. They usually drag leadcore around. I don't have any details as to spoon size. Maybe jigging next to the drop off shelf can get you some. Good luck

Ford vs Chevy . I have a ford....... (Happy Troller - Large ) for sale if anyone is interested. It is reinforced and much stronger than the stock model. Would prefer not to ship. Can be picked up in the Binghamton area.

Here are a couple pics of how a plate is attached to the BayStar and the quick disconnect ball is mounted to the plate. You can probably fabricate something to accomplish the same thing on your engine. Every setup is going to be different so figuring out the geometry to the kicker may be a challenge in some cases. The main objective (in the perfect world) is to be able to have full travel of both the main and kicker engines without one hitting the stops before the other. If anything, let the kicker (slave) under travel so the main is never impeded by the kicker stops. My boat is an Arima and the transom is not straight across as in a lot of boats. Also I have a power mount for the kicker to contend with so the kicker sets back a ways when down in the trolling position.

I used a set of smart tabs for awhile and they did well getting up on plane faster but didn't give me the ability to adjust the listing, same as you. I installed a set of Lenco tabs and that took care of the problem of leveling out the ride under varying conditions. Also adjusting bow attitude under varying seas is a plus. Had them on 6 years now and the only problem I had was with the trim tab control switch and Lenco sent me a new one at no cost to me. Components are easily replaceable if the need arises. I'd buy them again..

Salmon,....it doesn't matter what type of steering you have to use that steering bar. I have a BayStar system like you and all I did was use the clamp that comes with the unit to attach to the steer arm on my main. Depending on the geometry of your setup you may have to fabricate a plate or extension to give you full steering movement without hitting anything. There are many different transom layouts out there and some self fabrication/adaptor may be needed. We can better advise you if you post a picture of your engine set up. Here is a pic showing the attachment at the main engine like the way I did it.

Fished up around Long Point yesterday. Got about a dozen lakers, 19" to 27" and lost a few. No silvers. Surface temps were 39.2 to 40.1. All fish caught were 70' down to 90' over 100' to 250' bottom. Also ran sets at 45' w/slider, 35' and 4 core, not one hit on them so I didn't even bother running surface stuff. Two were spoon fish and rest were on dodger/fly- rigger and dipsey. No concentration of fish anywhere we went.

If you own a home and can get a home equity loan the interest rates are usually pretty good. The interest is also deductible.

I fish Cayuga Lake and I run Spin-in-Glows behind a 8" dodger from time to time. Some days it's dead, some so-so and other days it out fishes anything else I have out....just like any other presentation. I catch mostly lakers with them but do pick up a salmon every now & then also. If your dodger/fly's slow or don't produce throw one of these out. You may be surprised.
