  1. Thanks for the quick reply. I see that you are a new member here. What are the details about your store/website? Do you have a link to it so we can check out your store?
  2. southshoremarine Looks like I'm pretty sure that I'll go with the Furuno FCV620. Does that $705 price include the transducer? ...also is it a new unit or refurbished?
  3.  ....the visual of that discription is a killer
  4. Ok Ray......I could have answered to all three responses (depending on what age you consider an "Old Fart") :? . So only being able to select one answer I checked off #3-At Work. And like Seasquirrel, this isn't the only web site I frequent every day.....and don't forget all the shopping that gets done while at WORK. Just bought a set of trim tabs this morning....after a couple days of research  ......next buy is a new fishfinder .
  5. I've only made spoons & flies for trout & salmon trolling so not much help in building your target species. Try this site for lure making stuff. Should get you started. http://www.up-north.com/stamina/
  6. My kids must be reading the posts on this board and figured that my cabin fever is getting the best of you guys..........sooo to settle me down a bit they are springing for a fishing charter off Rhode Island for my birthday . I want a boat for the day that will accommodate 4-6 guys in Sept or Oct and don't have a clue on what charter to look for. I'm going to the Eastern Sportmans show in Harrisburg this Friday & Saturday and will be checking out whats available there. If any of you guys (and I'm sure there are some) can give me a heads up on a good Captain & boat I'd appreciate it. If they are at the show I'll check them out. If they aren't then I'll follow up later. I haven't fish the salt much so I want to make this a good trip.
  7. ...Ok, I know this doesn't answer your question but I couldn't help myself. Cabin fever is setting in. I'm sure you understand. I always take a couple travel rods on a cruise. My buddy & I fished off the 7th deck in Aruba while we were hangin' at port. Got these pictures of my buddy with the big one to share...... ....done this in Jamaca, off the Panama Canal, St Thomas and a private island in the Bahamas. It's riot. Down side is that you can't land anything big `cause it's a long why up to hand line those bigger ones
  8. This subject comes up every now and then and you can't get a straight or the same answer from all the "experts" . So far I'm just loading up my fuel with Sta-Bil and keep my fingers crossed. I found this online about a month ago on the Goldeagle site (makers of Sta-Bil) and haven't been able to find it in any auto parts store locally. Tried WalMart/K-Mart also. No one seems to stock it or even have heard of it :? . http://www.goldeagle.com/sta-bil/stabil_marine.htm I'm going to the Harrisburg Sportman's Show next weekend and will be looking for it in the Marine/boat/fishing building. Maybe the larger boats shows will feature it....... .....so if anyone knows where to get it I (we) would appreciate it if you would let us know. I sure want to get may hands on some . Last resort is order it online but not sure if shipping may be an issue. Thanks
  9. Been pretty quiet from Chaos. He loaded up his boat and took off to Colorado Springs without even giving us a kiss goodby. Read on another board that he made it out there in one piece even though he had to trailer through a snow storm. We are going to miss you Vince. Stay in touch and post every now and then. Don't forget the LOU-All, room on my boat for you.
  10. ...are you insinuating that I may not be telling the truth  ??...or that my posts could possibly be a FISH Story  ?
  11. There really wasn't anyone color that stood out. We ran a mix of naturals & color and most everything took fish. Probably the better producers had some brown/orange on the belly but like I said, most stuff worked. Several triples and it was a mix bag of lures.
  12. Everybody over to Jason's house for "Surf & Turf". I'll bring the venison.
  13. `frisco wanted to play yesterday so we took a day off work and splashed the boat. There were a few other boats out there and all I can say for those guys in open boats.......better you than me. Fishing was still pretty much producing good catches of Brown's & Land Locks. Doesn't take much skill right now, just drag something through the water and you'll catch something. I know some of you think that we'll blow it if we let the secret out but I know you guys won't tell anyone ............right  ................so here is the secret: Plugs & streamers on the surface, no special colors, they hit everything we dragged through the water. A spoon down a few feet also wacked `em pretty good..........be sure to keep this among us. Bumped into Hermit at the launch when we returned. He had a little engine project he was working on so we didn't bother him to much. Hope you got in the water to drag some lures.
  14. .... I'm not trying to start a panic, just passing on some more fish stories. I found this article this morning on the Drudge Report.... http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/01/22/america/fish.php ...Our New York fresh water fish are sounding better and better. If this kind of news keeps up it won't be long before there will be a big market for our fish at local resturants & grocery stores...... ....step aside sport fishermen,...the fish Hogs are coming
  15. No need to up load pictures to another site. Follow these instructions......easy to do. http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishin ... .php?t=912 ....Also if your using Big Jon `riggers this my help you out.
  16. Lets see, I 'll try and keep it simple. I use Berkley 12lb Big Game clear for trout & walleye year round for rigger & boards, (plugs, spoons, dodger/flasher ) - (except) when the fleas start. I have extra rods with 20lb Flea Flicker ready to go and just use those setups when needed. 30lb seven strand wire for the dipsey. I do have 2 rods with Tuf-Line XP for dipsey's on Oneida cause max depth there is about 50' and no fleas. Even though the super lines don't stretch, there is a lot of bow in the line when your trying to get down real deep and that is almost the same effect as stretch plus the fleas just love that line .\
  17. Gee Musky,  . Puke, gag, barf. Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to forward the link to a few buddies.
  18. to whom it may concern: Superman kicked Billy's a$$ Saturday
  19. .... these units run on propane just to clarify what `frisco is talking about. Also he has it hooked up to an 10 lb propane tank with an extention hose connected but can be used with the 1 lb throw away tank. We have had them in our boats for 5 years now and they are just the ticket. `frisco & I like to hunt and fish. We'll go out in most conditions but we don't like to suffer anymore than necessary.....like fishing in an open boat at 20 deg F and 10 mph winds  . Slider' may think we are weenies but I'm sure most of you will understand were we are coming from.
  20. It's a good thing that you got it fixed. I already had a line a couple other boats to jump on board with.
  21. Great replies.........thanks Rich, JD, Erby' for the links. I'll be checking them out today while at the office  . Besides it's MLK day and things will be quiet. I'm sure Moto as well as I, appreciate the imput. Hope there is more coming.
  22. Moto jump on board. These units are in the $800.00 to $900.00 range. Google up them and check out the specs. They both are the newer digital units. Tought decision without seeing them. I'm sure either one will do the job.
  23. M-B,....I too have made tried this and yes,.....two thumbs up. After reading the ingredients I thought it looked more like a heart attack in a bowl ,....but to many guys posted positive so I made it. I would say if ya want to impress someone with your cooking abilities just wip this on them and claim credit for it...... ...did I just say that?? Sorry . Anyway, after your guests take a few mouthfuls you can give Musky the credit but they probably won't hear you through all the slurping .
  24. Ok...I know this subject has been kicked around but I still haven't made up my mind :? . The two units that I'm considering are the Raymarine DS600x or the Furuno FCV-620. Both are in the same price range and both get great accolades when they are brought up. I'm going to the sportsmen show in Harrisburg in a couple weeks but this stuff just doesn't get any representation at this show  :x . Lorwance is the only company that shows up at the Harrisburg show. How about the Springfield show? These guys at that show? I really would like to see the units live and in person but no one carries either line in the Binghamton area. I guess I'm looking for a vote of confidence from someone that may have seen or used both machines and had an opinion of what one they liked the best & why. Thanks for any input. My boat really needs a nice birthday gift and that is Feb 13th . I have to buy something pretty soon just to get through the winter.
  25. .....ever think about a gift card to Coldwater Creek? I bet it would work at least once. Hay you guys,......I'm just trying to help the kid (Ethan) out. The `ol man has to show the kid how to get around women sooner or later so why not show him a real life experience right now. Next weekend were going to be pushing near 0 deg and the boat will have to stay in the barn.
