  1. I have these 4 downrigger weights that I acquired several years ago. They are "homemade" and look like someone's experimentation. I've not used them and don't know how well they work. The disc shaped ones are about 10# ea. and the "rocket" shaped one is about 8#. Price is $50 for the lot. Pick up in Walworth, NY. PM me here if interested. Thanks.
  2. Excellent surveyor.... saved me from trouble!
  3. What were the payouts?
  4. I hope they are going to sort it out into a nice ordered list for each of the three, plus show the payouts.
  5. Would like to see complete list of results. Please ....
  6. Stayed at the Lighthouse several times a year for the last 6 years. No problems.
  7. Lighthouse Motel in Olcott. Lots of rooms, fisherman friendly, reasonably priced. 7 miles from Wilson.
  8. Good idea!!
  9. As mentioned above, I use them as a stop for the cheater. Without it, sometimes the clip on the cheater will slide over the mainline swivel and deform it or open it. Also, if you want, you can reel it up to the rod tip for storage without the swivel passing through the end guide.
  10. This is done at times to stop creep of the reel under the pull of the dipsey. It allows a looser drag setting. Just half hitch the rubber band over the wire between the reel and the first guide, snug it up tight, then loop it over the reel handle behind the knob. Usually, the strike will break the band. I'm sure there are variations, but this is the basic idea.
  11. Works fine on the Moor coated cable for a Sub Troll. A little hard getting the beads on but works fine.
  12. I have put 5 colors + backing on a 209 in the past. That is about the limit.
  13. Another option is to pinch the hook points in to touch the shank on the front hook. This tends to maintain the original action while eliminating the other problems mentioned.
  14. Love my Airmar tilted element also. If you decide to install it yourself, here are a couple of videos I found very helpful.

  16. The answer...... at least my answer: "Has Been" was the closest . They are Mac Jac releases. As near as I can remember we used these in Michigan before we had salmon in Ontario. Some of the guys used them in the Finger Lakes also. These were used as the downrigger release. We didn't usually stack them but, they were attached by the clip to the downrigger wire. The doughnut was trapped on your main line, sliding between the rod tip and the swivel. You held on to the doughnut and slid the line through it until you had the lure back as many "pulls" as you wanted it. You then twisted the doughnut several turns to prevent it from sliding and forced it into the "U" of the clip When a fish hit, the doughnut pulled from the "U" and you had "fish on". The other thing I remember about that Lake Michigan fishing during the "American Salmon Derby" each early fall, was that we only used two kinds of lures. We either used #4 J-Plugs (lime green or silver) or silver Miller #06's (plain or hammered). The releases were likely used in a somewhat different configuration on Yellow Birds as some have suggested. Things have changed a little!!! Dick
  17. Just cleaning out some old tackle boxes and came across these. Don't know if the "youngsters" know what they are. You're only allowed to answer if you are new to this game in the last 25 years!
