  1. Rod, Great report, nice pics, way to keep the little guy on the rod. Glad you liked the fireworks, my company pays for the show every year. I did not make it up this year. Good Luck. Keep in touch. Rich
  2. GB, Here is a link for the new Cannon mag 5's, not sure what your price range is but this is cheap for a high speed rigger. http://www.byownerelectronics.com/store ... 531&page=3 This is the same motor that is in the mag 15's and 20's. Just a thought, I have dealt with JIM and he is a great guy and you will have them pretty much the next day. Good Luck. Rich
  3. Richard, Did you get my message that I called last night? Give me shout when you get a chance, I will be available all night tonight on my cell. Rich
  4. Adam, I am sorry about not answering your question. I have found that I get good action from the jakes any where from 2.4 to over 3.0 mph. I have not taken it faster than that, but I am sure they would be fine. The Savant size, mag looking spoon, is from 2.5 and up, this spoon is lighter than most mag sizes, so it will get down a little lower. Like Brad said he has changed the blanks a little, so they are more speed tolerant. Let me know if there are any more questions I can answer. Good Luck. Rich
  5. Well think I have recovered from Saturday, here are the pics of the final boards. I know there was some problems, but we were overwhelmed with the response. The last minute changes to the rules were the biggest problem, this will be taken care of for next year. The meeting time for some reason was changed by some to 630, but we held it off till 700 pm, next year the time will be held to one time which will be decided on at our first meeting. We had a great showing for the amount of money going back to the fisheries. I can tell you we raised more money than the MWC did at the tourney they held in Henderson this year. The 780 dollars willbe going to the ELOSTA club, Thank You everyone. I am looking forward to next year, thigs will be better next year, please bear with us. I know we will never make everyone happy, but we will try to do our best. As Ron said before, we encourage any one that is available to get involved, please do. The more we have, the easier it will be. If you are interested pm me and I will keep you posted. Thank You to Ron, Mike, Beth, Chris, and the rest of the commitee for their help on putting this together. Until next year. Rich
  6. Adam, Yes that is a can of WD40 you see. I spray every lure that hits th water, not sure it helps, but sure does not hurt as you can see. The wall is out of Henderson Harbor, this wall is off the Light house at Stony Point. A great piece of structure in the east end, it is getting better each year for fish. Mike, How is it going? I have not seen you since last year. I will be up Sunday morning, hoping to get out for a few hours. I did not check the trench, but heard a report of some fish showing up. I might check it out on the way out Sunday. Good Luck guys. Rich
  7. have a friend that is selling is Starcraft Islander hardtop. I will post it tomorrow. Fully rigged and trailer. Let me know if you are interested. Rich
  8. Ok here are the pics from yesterday off the wall. George was first up to bat, with nice king, this one came on the Savant Watermelon behind a watermelon dipsey, back 250. Then came a double, with Dave taking the Watermelon rig, and George getting the Froggy Jake rig. After 20 minutes or so we had both in the box. Next was dad on the Mickey Finn rig off the rigger. This fish literally inhaled the Jake into it's throat, I have never seen a fish take a lure this deep. Dave took another off the Watermelon rig. George took the last fish on the Froggy Jake rig, and then we headed for the barn. The boys were beat up pretty bad, but they were happy. Here is the crew with rewards for a good day on the water, glad to be back on the boat. I hope to be back up on Sunday if mother nature plays fair. Good Luck. Rich
  9. Guys I will post a pic of the boards tomorrow, I have not slowed down yet from this past week. I am actually going to be able to fish on my boat tomorrow, it has been over 3 weeks since I have seen it, let alone been on it. It was a great, I know there were some ups and downs, but what can you expect for the first year. I was expecting 40 boats, but we had 96, so things got a little hairy for a while. I promise things will be much smoother next year. Again, thanks to all that participated, we are giving 778 dollars to ELOSTA to give back to the fishery. Rich
  10. That number was as of This afternoon, as soon as I found out Ron and I posted it on the web. Hoping to break 60 by Friday. Good Luck to all I will see Friday. Rich
  11. Update as of this afternoon, 53 boats entered by mail, and still taking them until Friday night. Let's hope mother nature plays far. Rich
  12. Jeff, Is that why the PBJ sandwich tasted so good? Rich
  13. Rod, Now if I tell what the secret scent is then it would not be a secret anymore. Lets just say that Salmon have an incredible sense of smell, ie return to the salmon river they were born in, so the use of scents is good. Now whether it is to cover human scent or the actual baitfish scent I can't tell you but it works. I like to put scent on my hands before I start to rig for the day and will apply more to the lures and hands through out the day. See me Friday, and maybe I will share  . See ya then. Rich
  14. Rod, I will see you Friday, I am hoping to get out in the afternoon on Thursday after we get the tables and stuff setup. Fingers crossed that Mother Nature will play nice for us next weekend. Good Luck this week. I am hoping to hit Henderson on Wednesday with the family. Rich
  15. Jan, I will see you Friday night, glad to hear you are going to come and join in the fun. Rich
  16. Jan, The meeting is on the East side along with the weigh in. You will be able to pull up to the gas dock from the water and drop off your cooler and a team member, or you can trailer to the marina and drop off cooler and team member. I have something worked out with Jon from the tackle shop where you will be able to park over at his place and we will get you back from there. Bling, There is no dish to pass required for the picinic, everything except beer will be provided. IF YOU HAVE NOT PUT YOUR ENTRY IN WE WILL ACCEPT THEM AT THE CAPTS MEETING, BUT YOU MUST BRING CASH, SINCE WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CASH YOUR CHECKS BY THEN. BRING YOUR ENTRY FEE AND MONEY FOR THE PICNIC TO THE MEETING. Any questions, let me know. Rich
  17. I fourth the Knot, crimps break to easily. Rich
  18. Rick, I saw that, if fact I was trying to get some awesome air pics of the Otters when they would come off the tops of those waves. Rich
  19. Rick, Maybe the white on top of the rollers. lol Rich
  20. Jeff, No boat problems, but the waves were building, when we lfet there was 5-7's and building. I knew we were not in contenetion for any money so we called it. I will see you next weekend. Rich
  21. http://www.savantspoon.com/ This is the website, I am not sure where you are located, so I can not give a location for a store. Let me know if you have problems. Rich
  22. I agree, I always half hitch the rubber band to the cable, I think it helps with the hook set also, a little pressure to start the hook set, also the rubber band will not be in the way when retrieving the fish. Another way which I saw this weekend was to set your main rig in the release and drop it down 5-10 feet and the put a split shot on the main line and attach the slider below the shot, this will prevent it from sliding up. Good Luck. Rich
  23. Here is a pic of the hottest Savants for us over the past 3 weeks. The Watermelon and Mickey Finn Savant and the Froggy, Mickey Finn, Rainbow Sparkle, and the Bleeding Blue streak Jakes have been very consistent for us in the high sun/partly cloudy days. The Savant Green Glow Trout and the Coho Green Glow have been hot in the early morning and cloudy low light conditions. These have been run mostly off the riggers but the Savant Watermelon has been smokin off a watermelon Dipsey. Good Luck. Rich
  24. Jet, I have the Heartlands on love them, you can't beat them for the price. You should be ok going with the 8'6", but I do not see you running the PP until the fleas are gone. They are making a mess even on the wire. Good Luck. Rich
  25. Chris, Thank you to you and the rest of the staff that put on such a great event. We look forward to fishing it again next year. Rich Team Savant
