  4. You can run Outboards all winter. Just make sure.you trim the.motor down when you are done to drain it. Some guys even turn the motor over 1 or 2 cranks just to make sure the water is all out. That is it. You can start fishing anytime. [ Post made via Android ]

  8. I was a little to the left of port and.it was rough! I couldn't fish into the waves. Had to make a troll with em and then pull up, run and start again. I had 14 fish on and lost them all due to the up and down in the waves. Not too worry now rod, I upgraded to a 26 ft glass boat. Yes we will be at 4 mile. Stop over. I was going to do the oswego pro am but the date was moved and its on my anniversary. I want to be able to keep fishing, so that one is out. Har har. 1 month to go! [ Post made via Android ]
  9. Jan is right. I am a charter captain but do not charter on LO. Last year I had to fish pro at the oswego pro am. I took a skunk on day 1! I was running a 22 ft islander bt the lake was throwing 6 footers.I could not fish effectively. It laid down on day 2 and I won the come back award with a great box. I will not fish the new pro am rules for that amount of entry fee with communication. Its a shame I can not be included in your format. [ Post made via Android ]

  19. Really easy. Atlantic salmon lives in the Atlantic ocean then returns to the spawning rivers. landlocked salmon lives in fresh water lakes then returns to the.spawning rivers. RR [ Post made via Android ]
  20. Most smelt you buy are commercially harvested from saltwater. Seems to me that I see more lampreys during the winter fishing. Don't have any.science to back it up, just my observations during the winter trolling for many years. RR [ Post made via Android ]
  21. The DEC doesn't care about the smelt. They are an invasive species. They won't manage the population. They actually changed the times you can smelt and lowered the limit about 10 years ago. [ Post made via Android ]
  22. Owasco still has healthy runs. Here is my take on Cayuga. There has been a lot of development on the ridges where the farms were/are. This development has changed the drainage into the lake. I have 3 small private creeks on my road that were the best smelt creeks on the lake. Now they are compleatly dry in the summer. No water No smelt. Have not seen a smelt in those creeks for 9 years. The major tribs still get a few here and there. Lots of work to get a dozen for the bait can. The Niagara river in may would be your best bet. RR [ Post made via Android ]
