    Conesus perch made a decent showing a couple winters ago and returned to ghosts again. The perch fishing there is nothing like it was 40 years ago. IMO, it is a waste of time and there are way better places to find them. Walleye can be found around the weed lines, or suspended on alewife mid lake. Night fishing them along the weed lines can be awesome. I used to throw husky jerks along weed lines adjacent to sharp drops in the fall and boat a couple every night. Long Point was always good to me at night. Also Cottonwood point.

    Pier guys don’t show up at State of the lake meetings, or invest in the pen projects. Their voices will never be heard because they don’t show up.     The pen projects were on track the last couple of years and the DEC is having us pen ALL the fish stocked at each tributary. This should make a difference. They are also putting more effort into the pen projects. The change came a couple of years ago when the new hatchery manager took over. There is now more consistency from project to project, funding available for the projects and the biggest plus is projects that have high temp issues are the first to receive pen fish.     This year class of mature fish is from the spring that pen rearing did not happen due to water temps being too high. The fish were direct stocked. Without pen rearing, fish do not imprint on the trib they were stocked in. The majority run back to the Salmon River. The pen rearing clip study proved this year ago. There is some straying back to the salmon river even if they are pen reared but is is way less. I was told by one of the hatchery personnel that is caused because they are already imprinted on the salmon river before being pen reared. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

    Isn’t this the return year of the non pen rearing year when the DEC got us our fish too late and the water was too warm? That year they were direct stocked at most projects. At Sandy we pen reared for only a couple of days that year. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

    They have been shallower than normal so far this fall. 8-15' has been good.

    When the seals go in them and oil leaks out into the water, I would say that classifies as environmental harm.....They kill birds that fly into the blades, more expensive to build and maintain, and they don't last forever and are expensive to take down or rebuild.

    Gator, black tuxedo, alewife, Carbon 14, green jeans, purple glow alewife, green glow alewife, Froggy glow, NBK and green tuxedo were my best producers the past two seasons. Most are stingers listed above and some are moonshines. Stingrays and stingers sizes for Michigan Stingers and standard and mag for moonshines.     My fathers old paper graph used to show the thermalcline back in the day. Old technology that worked awesome.

    If this trend continues, I will order more custom colors tailored to the walleye fishery. This week was the second most profitable week since I started Gambler Rigs 4 years ago. My inventory is being depleted as fast as I can make them. It will be a busy winter for sure!

    I cant stand combat fishing. I would much rather blast offshore and have fun with steelhead.
