  1. The warmth and the rain in the next 10 days should be a game changer.
  2. Not every year. The winning salmon has come from Rochester and Oswego in the past in the spring. Rochester also has a back up plan for rough days. Irondequoit bay holds a decent number of browns that make any weather a go.
  3. Downrigger weights are a lot cheaper than a probe.
  4. With the X4, you can run it off of any rigger since there is no coated cable. I run my probe on my starboard rigger until it is time to laker fish. I then put it on the center rigger. Always have a rod on that rigger. It would be a waste to have a cable in the water with nothing on it.
  5. I do what Tim said. When I troll browns along the bottom, I run the probe rigger as my high rigger. When I drag the bottom for lakers, I run a high rod for kings and steelhead on the probe rigger. When I'm not near the bottom, I can run it where ever.
  6. I forgot to add some mayo to the list.
  7. Mice love racks. I left a skull of a dead 10 point I found behind my house on my wood pile and they destroyed it......
  8. I boil the filets in very salty water with old bay and a little dill. I use a crab cake recipe that my wife got from one of the girls at work. It has old bay, dried mustard, onion, green pepper, Italian style breadcrumbs and an egg.
  9. They are good but not good enough to catch fish without hooks Paul.
  10. I do the same thing Mark. It is a nice change of pace. I have tried it with salmon and steelhead too. Comes out really good!
  11. Lots of room in the cabins. Great fishing platform. Have a survey done. Most boats are condusive to stringer and transom rot.
  12. Remember the lake continues to rise until June. It will come up quick. Tug Hill is still loaded with snow. It will thaw and add to the lake total. The last couple years we got monsoon rain in May and things changed quickly.
  13. No need to apologize Rick. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
  14. I'm all for a change in the trib regs. Closing sections of prime breeding for all species that naturally reproduce is only benefitting all of us. I'm also in favor of a one trout limit on the smaller tribs.
  15. For ease of enforcement, this is the only way. The slobs taking eggs from kings and throwing them on the bank needs to stop just as much as trout. With natural reproduction high for kings, why not protect them? The salmon river has high reproduction rates yet the river does not close down sections to protect the kings from rednecks ripping them out by the butt or walking through their reds.
  16. All it costs them is the money for the food. The pen projects are run by volunteers. Need be, we could raise money to pay for the food if they did not want to pay for it.
  17. I never understood guys that kill trout for eggs to catch more trout.........Banning eggs all together would be the only way to resolve this.
  18. I'm selling a Cannon mag 10a rigger in good condition for a buddy. It comes with dual mount rod holders and a mount lock. $100.00. Local pick up only.
  19. Things should change after two days of 50 degrees and a good rain this week.
  20. Listen to this man! Save your pennies and buy the Saltists. They will not disappoint. I'm a weekend warrior too and went to all Saltists and glad I did.
