  1. Wow. Look at that, it paid out more than the Winter Classic!
  2. And you can not put out rods for them.
  3. They will be more scattered at this time of the year but the 90 to 120 zone will still hold from the creek to wautoma.
  4. Another vote for saltist. They have the smoothest drag and the high gear ratio makes for an easy retrieve on those long diver trips with no one home.
  5. Overcast warm morning with a west wind and one foot chop on the lake.
  6. You can scrap it when you are done with it. What I have found is some days copper produces and some days leadcore produces. Gotta have both......
  7. Run a spin n glow with a couple beads and a treble behind it. Lakers love them.
  8. In 30 years of fishing Lake Ontario, I have only hung bottom once ( i hooked a cannon ball on the Van Lare intake crib). Most of the laker grounds is flat mud bottom. Thumper rigs work for lakers BUT, they are not nearly as effective, They play the fish too long and they do not fight at all on this rig.
  9. You can't beat a white 3" or 4" Mr Twister Curly tailed grub. Drop it to the bottom and start reeling it back up.
  10. This week of East wind is going to push the ice back to the West into warmer water that could deplete the ice too. Hopefully it is gone soon.
  11. We are supposed to get another 70 degree day Monday and some rain before then. We can all hope.
  12. Run them at 1.0 - 1.8mph at the ball with a peanut rig or a spin n glow. Drop the downrigger ball to the bottom and troll them within 5' of the bottom. Lakers can not resist them, kings not so much.
  13. There is no need to run cowbells more than 20' from the ball. I run them as short as 5' and 15' is my max. Drop the ball to the bottom and lift it a foot. Let the ball settle back and repeat. There is no need to keep it dragging on the bottom.
  14. Anyone think about getting TU involved?
  15. The channel is wide open and good flow is coming out of Long Pond. They were really slow all winter.
  16. The last couple years, we have been doing browns good in 25-35 fow with boards, riggers and slide divers. 1/2 oz of lead with spoons off the boards produced a lot of browns.
  17. . I had a great fall for perch. Icefishing all species was off for some reason.
  18. I run 15lb floro. No issues at all.
  19. I'm suprised at the lack of guys that are running divers in their spring brown sets. Slide divers have really produced for me along with the normal spring plainer sets. Some trips, 2 slide divers have out produced shallow riggers and plainer boards.
