I asked about Powder Mill last year at the state of the lake meeting and they said it was due to the fact that it was privatly owned.

In addition to creel surveys how about angler diaries like the finger lakes?

The is tons of $ in the conservation fund, or the lawsuit that they used money from to buy the marking trailer that could be put towards building a hatchery on the West end. There is also Powder Mill. Powder Mill is privately owned but the could make a deal to subcontract the job of raising the salmon. King Davy, The DEC is all about a Healthy fishery IF the budget allows. If a healthy fishery is what they are all about, they would not have all their eggs in one basket! The DEC did add a ton of fish to the lake by adding 300,000 lake trout that live WAY LONGER than a king. This could be detrimental to the fishery if there is a bait collapse. Kings would be out of the system in 3 years. Lakers can be in the system OVER 20 years. It could be a reciepe for disaster if something were to happen.

Because we get the same carbon copy every year Carl. They do not want to admit low numbers of kings and high numbers of alewives. The state does not want to spend the $ to put more kings in. The get the feds to stock more lake trout to knock the alewive numbers down.

Anyone with kids, this is a great way to get the kids away from the TV and do something fun.

Nils is the best, then a Strike Master Lazer. Get the wallet out for a Nils. They are double what a Lazer costs.

Growing season cut short by cold winter/ spring last year is more likely the cause. The Alewive Plumpness was down last year too according to their data. Less plumpness = eating more alewives to gain weight which also = more energy used to eat.

99% of the guys that fish the Bayside Tourney dont even fish Irondequoit Bay let alone the cove behind the bar. The Tourney is open to any waters to fish.

It can be good but most of the time it is dead. My buddy fished it a couple weeks back and it was DEAD!

Iceman, I target lakers on purpose. The point I'm trying to make is, the kings were missing last year so we were forced to fish lakers and browns to put fish in the boat. I do not have much faith in the DEC creel survey.

I find it interesting that they say the laker catch rate was down....... In 22 trips last season, we caught 382 lake trout on my boat and 43 kings (not counting skippers). Record high lake trout numbers and a record low king numbers for me. I did not see the creel survey boat ONCE all summer out of Sandy.

1/2 to 1 oz jig heads with white 3" Mr twister curly tailed grubs. Find deep water, drop it to the bottom, jig it really aggressively a couple times and start reeling up. A flasher will help big time. It is very entertaining to watch them chase. The faster you reel, the faster they chase.

Keuka is a blast. Lots of action.
