  1. This lake level deal has been going on for a couple of years now. My wifes boss was a higher up on the commitee. The poeple that live on the lake were trying to get the lake levels lowered to stop erosion. The first round, they lost so this is the new proposal. If anyone wants more info on this proposal, let me know and I will see if he can get me the reading material to distribute.
  2. I have the Sport Pilot Plus on my boat and would not reccommend it to anyone. I have problems with it from day one. It was sent back to the company 2 times and they finally got it right.
  3. 1" clear plastic tubing. Cut it 1 1/2" long than the fly and put slits in the top and the bottom. You slide the leader through the tube and pull the fly until the hooks catch on the end. wrap the leader in the slits you put in both ends of the tube. I keep mine in a Plane box that does not have any dividers.
  4. Wire dipseys are my favorite. When the wire bite is on, you can not beat it.
  5. My vote is for Don's Original on Irondequoit Bay. When I slipped my boat on the bay, I would hit that place after every trip.
  6. Anywhere on this lake produces bass, walleye and panfish. For Walleye, I like fishing tip ups in the weeds in 14 -17 fow. Also jig the same area. The gills and seeds will be in 6 - 10 fow. For perch, they are deep and scattered. You will get some with the walleye and bass in the weeds.
  7. Very nice pics. That drake oldsqaw looks just like the one I have mounted in my game room. It is nice to see they are eating goibes and zebra muscles.
  8. I actually would rather fish Steelhead. When it is derby time, Kings in the morning and then drag bottom to get some gas money back.
  9. Any time Rick. Just let me know. We may find FISHINMAN in my spot for lakers but we will manage.
  10. Did he catch that slob on a tip up or jigging? I love that lake for icefishing.
  11. I'm also a big fan of the thundersticks. Can't beat the billy borrow, black and silver, firetiger and orange and gold.
  12. For all of you guys that make fun of lake trout fisherman, you might want to start learning . The way things are going, this could happen again.
  13. My buddy did good on the gills at the North end the other day. The shore ice has firmed up nice. I was not at the North end. I was fishing infront of my buddies house.
  14. I'm glad it is only 15% missing. It could have been a lot worse. Does the DEC plan on stocking more of the other species to make up for the loss?
  15. Fishinman, Is Jax your assistant?
  16. I heard from a buddy today that we will only get 50% of the kings we are supposed to get this year? The egg take was down (old news) and then a lot of the eggs did not make it to the yoke stage (new news)? Anyone else have any info on this?
  17. Fished Conesus today and did not get a flag. This lake has been really slow this year. Hopefully the next trip will prodcue.
  18. With the low water, the perch run was not that good in the fall because the channel from Long Pond to the lake was shallow or a total sand bar. On a normal year, Cranberry can be good.
  19. 30 lb. Ande Pink for flea season. 15 lb. Maxima for the spring rods. Seagar Florocarbon for all of my leaders.
  20. Cranberry Pond is a big bowl max depth is about 6 -8'. I have not fished it in a couple of years. The ice fishing is best in the SE corner of the pond. The only public parking area is on the Nw corner of the pond. It is a long walk.
  21. I got one out of Conesus in 2005 that was 41" and 19lbs. This summer, my buddy pulled a 43" that was only 16 - 17 lbs. really skinny. My buddy that lives on Conesus has a 48" pike mounted that weight 26.5 lbs.
  22. Fished Honeoye at my buddies again and did 1 walleye, 1 bass, a bucket of gills and seeds and lost one walleye at the hole. Picked up around 11 and went to private access on the West side of Conesus. The ice was a little scary (2 - 3"). Fished until 4:30 and got skunked. Did not even have a single flag.
  23. Fished right out in front of the boat launch near the end of the dock from 12:30 - 3:30 and did 2 pike in the first hour. Nothing jigging, and no other flags after that.
  24. Fished Honeoye in front of my buddies house with GatorNY and some other friends. Did 12 walleye, about 12 -15 bass, lots of gills, seeds, rockbass and some perch. 10 out of the 12 walleyes were taken on bass minnows. 2 of them were taken jigging on a Salmo Chubby Darter and a Nils Master. Both lures were in perch color. We fished 14 -17 fow for the eyes, 8 fow for the gills and sunfish and 25 fow for the perch. The ice was 4 -6". Hopefully we did not lose too much yesterday. Here are some pics from the day.
