  1. I troll S&S, Hammerhead, and the Nk chains. I like running blue and silver and watermelon. The speed should be slower than 1.8. The best speed is around 1.3. If you troll faster than 1.8, you will get a lot less lakers. Most brands of chains will not work properly over 1.8. The NK seem to be a little more speed tolerant than the other 2 I named. Good luck.
  2. The largemouth fishing on Conesus will be good at that time. Fish the weedbed on the North end of the lake with jigs, spinnerbaits or top water. Drop shoting is also good just outside the weedlines all over the lake. Just watch out for bite offs from monster pike and tiger musky. This lake is loaded with them. If you want to fish pike, troll over the points in the North end in 30' of water. The big pike will hang on the points at this time of the year. I like running bomber deep diving long A's. Firetiger has been the best over the years. Good luck.
  3. Boomer, Canadice is a blast. Fish the South end for pickerel, bass and panfish with tip ups and jigging or Fish the middle of the lake (90' of water) and jig lakers with pastics and jigging spoons ( I have better luck on plastics). You will need a flasher to get the lakers in numbers. A lucky fisherman without electronics may get one. Be very careful over deep water. This lake can have some really inconsistant ice. Last season, there was 12" of ice with open water 100 yards from where I was fishing. Feel free to PM me for more details.
  4. My buddy used to work at Pheasant Hollow in Bloomfield. Give them a try.

    ice?

The wind on weather.com in Honeoye said the wind died to 6mph out of the west. It should glaze over tonight and then start building with the Arctic temps the next couple of days.
  6. It should come in three different scents spring, summer and fall.
  7. I caught a seagull in front of the Monroe County Sherrifs on Irondequoit Bay 2 years ago. The stupid thing took my minnow as it hit the water. I have also caught 1/2 a dozen gulls trolling for browns in the spring on stickbaits.
  8. Who cares if it was the record or not. If you know the guy, get the pictures and post them. I want to see that slob.
  9. If you got them on Xraps and not spoons, it was probally retrieval speed. Daredevils need to be retrieved at a faster retrieve to keep them out of the weeds. I would never give up on the daredevils.
  10. I was wondering how long it would take for this to start up again.
  11. The Trap Attack is back on. This is old news. I saw this at thefishyspot.com
  12. Windburn, Gregg Bleir in Hilton. He runs american Wildlife taxidermy. He has done 6 other fish and a duck for me. Hopefully the ice returns soon.
  13. Ask Jax. He did it yesterday and did not get skunked!
  14. Sluggo, Any pics of that musky? I love seeing those slob ski's
  15. It is open during the iceseason. I keep my limit of dinks (12 -14") bass everytime I ice fish there. The lake is over run with small largemouth. Hopefully people will weed them out so the size gets better.
  16. Here is the pic of the monster bluegill I caught fishing Honeoye on a jigging Rapala fishing for walleyes a couple of weeks ago.
  17. I sold my Ranger and still have the rubber mat bed liner. $20 cash and pickup and it is yours. I also have the Haynes manual for the truck. My truck was a 2000. $10 and pick up for the book. $25.00 and both are yours.
  18. The only thing to do in the winter - Icefish!
  19. Bad habit, I have the Sportpilot plus and had problems with it. It works fine now after 2 trips back to the company. I would go with the Simrad. I have done a lot of reading on this unit and it sounds really good.
  20. I would be upset also. Hopefully it will be fixed for you.
  21. I can sum it up in one word - sucked!!! One stinking bass. The ice is in good shape. Hopefully it will last throught the warm spell.
  22. Little pathces here and there. There are some frozen shin or knee high snow drifts. The ice looks horrible but it was good for the most part. Further North of me it was thin. Someone put sticks in a line across the lake and it looks like it froze there last.
  23. Fished the South end, West side of Honeoye today and the fishing was slow. Iced 2 walleye 15 1/2 and 21 1/2", 2 perch, one slob gill (10 3/4") and a mess of bass. The gill and the perch came on a perch colored jigging rapala in 16 fow. The walleyes and bass came on tip ups rigged with shiners in 13 - 17 FOW. The ice was 3 -6" and half black and the other half white ice. It looks really crappy all over but it is fine. I was cautious this morning and used my spud all the way to my spot.
  24. I have seen large pike do that a lot in Irondequoit and Conesus. I have drove the boat right up to them. Most of the times, they were trying to swallow a large fish. (one had a nice walleye sticking out of its mouth and another a nice largemouth.
