The Chicago Tribune has a story on The Lake Superior Water Control Board dumping excess water into the Lake Michigan And Huron Basins. Something is out of control and eventually Lake Ontario is going to get the brunt of this mismanagement. Search it out now.

30 pound leaders are usually enough to hold a large king. 20 pound leaders break off with big fish. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

My old Starcraft leaked. I filled the hull with water one spring. 268 rivets were replaced. Old rivets will leak from the pounding they get. Welded aluminum boats are safer. After replacing all the rivets the transom brace cracked ang the engine was flopping under way so I gave up and scrapped that boat. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I use red rubber bands on my cannon ball releases. They always release. Also I use red rubber bands on side planer releases. A gain they break or really stretch out with small fish. I also use red rubber bands on inline sinker weights. Easy to install any where in front of the lure and just rip the sinkers off when it reaches the pole. The Central Alaskan king salmon fishery has been closed down due to low returns to streams and salt water areas. We are fortunate here on Lake Ontario to have them available and tourism may see an unanticipated increase. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

What's holding you back from fishing a tournament?

In Alaska the limit on “King” salmon is one per person per day. Any fish taken into the boat is your limit and you are finished fishing for the day. You may release fish in the net that stay in the water and continue fishing. This insures unnecessary killing of fish. A thirty pound salmon is plenty of fish to feed your family for a year . I was caught up in a PWT contest on Lake Erie one year that was run by outsiders who never fished the area. By 9:15AM the winds picked up to 45 mph. It took over an hour at five mph to return to Dunkirk. The waves were peaking over ten foot high and the boat was close to vertical many times. One bass type boat rolled over as a 400 pound angler upset the boat. Quite a few did not get the cancellation call over their radio and had a tougher time getting in. When you enter these contests you have to decide your self to go out. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

Rockport, MA and Newburyport, NH are good bottom fishing ports. Qicker trips of shore there.
