  1. TIGHT! Gotta get that hook into those bony 'nookie jaws, but not so tight they can't take drag. If it wants to scream back off a bit!
  2. I'm pretty sure mine were detailed. I could care less about the event this weekend. Things change overnight! We piss pounded them on a Hawg Wild Saturday and it took one fish on Sunday. Wow, I ran the DW version the Goldie Hawn / Sister Sledge and did the same - it was hot on Saturday on an outside diver and deathly quiet the hour or two I ran it Sunday. BTW - if that was you we got a little tight to with the orange Riviera boards, I apologize, had a newbie driving while we were doing some change up / catching in the back of the Pursuit walkaround - we shadowed each other heading west for a bit...
  3. OK, now that we've all read the reports and experienced the knockout spring we are having... How long will the madness persist? Will there be a "June transitioin"? Will it be even better once we have a "hard" stratification? It can't possibly be this good all year...can it?
  4. Reports have been killing me...the opportunity presented itself and we booked it up there as fast as we could...the new rig is proving to be a fish coffin...doesn't hurt that the bite has been hot as well! LOL I have no idea how we kept the greasers off so well Chad... Guess we were fishing in water that was a bit too deep for them? Maybe because the majority of our lines were pulling spinnies and flies was spooking them out of the spread? I was waiting for the basement rigger to pick up a few, but go figure, both of the mud hens we picked up were on the highest line in the spread... Wrecked a LOT of tackle this weekend...some spoons lost paint and got bent, lost a rear treble on a J plug from a CRUSHING hit, mangled quite a few flies and hooks...both Action Flies and ATOMMIKS... Have to make a trip to Great Lakes Tackle in Erie here before we venture north again... Sure hope the bloodbath continues through the end of the month...

What a year this may become...about 50 / 50 stockies to wild fish...unbelievable...where did they all come from all of the sudden? 6. Yes, I'm trying to find one too... But for the smart phone user... A precision trolling APP coming soon... http://www.fishing411.net/store.html
  7. Precision Trolling Big Water Edition...good luck finding one... Been looking for a couple weeks since winter storage seems to have eaten my old one????? If you do, please share the wire curve and braid curve!
  8. The sheer number of wild Kings showing up is amazing... Now they are showing up with size too!
  9. Well, while were debating heading North to Olcott, we stopped short thinking that there was no way the reports we had heard about Kings in 20 fow of water off Olcott were correct (BOY DID WE BLOW THAT DECISION!) We did some mud hen fishing around the PA / NY line and the last fish of the day was a little different from the 8 - 15 lb greasers we had been catching... 14 lb 4 oz Lake Erie Brown
  10. Thanks guys! Appreciate your feedback for those of us a bit too far away to attend. Being an optimist, I definitely like the sounds of the positive aspects! See you on the water soon!
  11. Lead core... About 4 ft of depth per color at 2mph... Spoons themselves vary in weight as well, an NK 28 weighs a LOT more than a Stinger of the same length and consequently action at that speed will vary as well. As a general rule, lighter spoons at slower speeds, heavier spoons at faster speeds.
  12. I'm guessing from your screen name and the port of choice you are coming from Ohio... So, yes, Olcott is a great port to fish - however, in May I would not overlook Wilson and Youngstown. If you are indeed coming in from the west, you are in essence driving right by them. Youngstown gives you the fastest access to the Niagara Bar which is kind of the spring mecca for Kings. The "can" which marks the beginning of the shallow bar or the beginning of the drop is approximately 5 miles out.
  13. I am looking forward to a full report from you tomorrow Vince. Anxious to hear what the biologists have to say and your interpretation of the information disseminated.
  14. Could go on about that for hours... LOADED QUESTION Time of year, water clarity, where in the water column, what species are you targetting, what is primary forage at that time of year/location, What are the weather conditions... This is the fascinating part about fishing and the true challenge - matching your presentations to the factors you have at hand for the maximum results.
  15. I can also add that I REALLY like NK28s when the "turn and burn" troll is on. They seem to excel at "higher" speeds more so than the other brands in my experience, and that goes for both Erie and Ontario.
  16. DW Super Slims are "tits" on Erie, love NKs, Streaks, and DW Mags on the O.
  17. Hey Guys, Looking at purchasing a boat on the Canadian side of the pond... Need to see if anyone has done this before and what hoops, headaches, and paperwork that needs to be done in order to accomplish this transaction as seamlessly and smooth as possible. I can be emailed directly at: [email protected] Thank you in advance for your assistance.
  18. Mmmmm...gets the juices flowin' just thinkin' about it... Don't forget a good spoon selection too...they can get downright particular. Last Memorial Day weekend did very well on spinnies & flies, but took our largest on spoon and have had days in the past when spoon bite was on, flasher / fly got very little attention...
  19. BTW... The "Adirondack Salmon Patties" recipe is a good one MuskyBob.
