  1. Yes Chad, I'm afraid transition is happening. There's comfy water all over, at lots of depths
  2. Good weekend at Olcott. 180 - 325 all 3 days. From just West of Wilson where we beat up a scum line temp break with inversion (higher surface temp inside, with lower down temp but lower surface temp, and 4 degree higher down temp outside the break) on Thursday. In front of the Red Barn on Friday, and just East of the Microwave Tower on Saturday on different variations of North / South passes brought full coolers all 3 days. Meat was good throughout with a 10" Green Gator being the stud and a 10" Green Dot on White a close second on divers, a big Oki Kingfisher on the deep rigger anywhere from 110 to 140 down chipping in a healthy portion too. A handful of Moonshine and Silver Streak Mag spoons added the rest of the catch.
  3. It's a White Perch...plenty of White Perch (although less in recent years) and White Bass in Lake Erie
  4. When it's good, it's great. Start early in the "bite" from the inside of the Western End of the mountain (first 40 and 2nd 40) til you find them and Chase east and out as temps warm. Believe it or not, they will school relatively tightly, so nail one or two, there will be more close.
  5. Chad, Where did you see that number? "Walleye estimates overall for 2018 are now slightly above the 41 million level for the western and central basins of the lake. These are the prime spawning areas that fisheries' managers concern themselves with most. That’s a lot of fried fish fillets. Some of you loyal readers might recall the 2017 number as being 56"
  6. I live in Conneaut Lake. There are some, albeit few, large muskies still in Conneaut. I've seen two over 50" through the ice in the last 5 years. If you are looking for numbers and possible quality, a ten minute run west to Pymatuning may be a better bet. Feel free to PM me if you are looking for more info.
  7. Look at the tail in the bottom pic. Kings have spots on tail from top to bottom...Cohos will hardly ever have spots on tail more than halfway down.
  8. Captain Vince is spot on. Look at Walleye and Perch numbers in Sag Bay since Alewife crash. There's a reservoir in my backyard that illustrates the point. Until it was acknowledged that Alewife were added to ecosystem and were predating fry stockings of Walleye to put and take lake and young of the year perch illustrated by missing year classes of walleye and perch and finally realized adult, unpredated Alewife were the cause, a limited stocking of hybrid White Bass elimated the problem. The fishery has rebounded since
  9. You can also see a list of retailers at: http://www.bayratlures.com/retail-locations.html
  10. I think pairings are important as well as fly leader length as well as distance from ball or diver to Spinnie
  11. Brad's Cut Plug has been good to us... especially handy when you run out of real cut bait
  12. Keating on Kings is probably the best Salmon fishing read for the Great Lakes ever written
  13. Expecting some much needed fish porn... 5 days in a row of mid 40's and above...I expect to see some pics and reports guys...it's much needed
  14. Wait a minute guys...grass carp aren't the terroristic ones that are so bad. It's the Silver and Bigheads we are worried about
  15. Went 2 / 3 on big boys, 2 - 2 yr olds and a Skippy in front, 80 fow
  16. To my knowledge was first made popular by Billy Ruth in his Fair Haven / Sodus days
  17. Spoon version: https://www.google.com/search?q=jabanero+dreamweaver&oq=jaba&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j69i39j69i57j0.2620j0j4&client=ms-android-verizon&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#pie=plaji-i
  18. Temp screwed up from yesterday's East. 50 down 45 in 75 fow. Ground out a 1/3 performance on big boys in the skinny water this morning
  19. Found some off Olcott...can't keep 'em buttoned. 2/6 on matures this morning inside, a 25 1/2 and high teens in the box...only thing that didn't go were riggers.
  20. Don't kid yourself...every day is different. Some flies will always "pair" better with certain flashers under certain conditions. We all have our favorites, but there are different combos that produce better for different conditions
  21. I never use snubbers, but a high-quality, well-set drag is required. Fluorocarbon doesn't stretch much, it's not mono
