  1. Took FISHINMAN Tom out today and let him set up the starboard side of the boat while I set the port. Started in about 200 fow marking bait and fish but no takers, began a north troll then finally hit a fish on the copper pulling a M & M – missed it. The next fish hit the 150’ slide diver, nice king then Tom’s side got hot and started firing one right after another. (It didn’t help that I put the copper on his side too.) Well 11 hits later we finally took another fish on my side!! Highlight of the day was watching 6 year old Dominick nail a 13 pound mature king salmon all by himself!! Caught it on youtube follow this link to the report then click on the video link in the report. More details there as well. http://www.salmocharters.com/index_files/SalmonFishingReport.html Thanks for the schooling TOM!!!! CC
  2. SOOOO.........If I am fishing a tourney with Billy V in it, I will follow him around and net his road kills!! Then I get the fish and the flasher!!! --- My guess is that those leaders were not 30# Big Game. Thanks for the report. Sorry to throw salt on the wound!! CC
  3. Tom, It was a purple nurple kind of morning. Wait till tomorrow when I show you the latest and greatest lure -- the "Pickled Nipple" -- ugly but hot at the same time!!! CC
  4. Thanks Bruce!! That is the kind of report that can be put to good use!! I know right where to start in the morning and with the fish up high I know to include orange in my color selection!!! Keep reporting Thanks, CC
  5. Prayers sent. Get well soon Bob, lots of good fishing still to come!!! Carl Bish
  6. Flat lake -- about time!!! Thought the fish would be jumping in the boat. Just did not happen that way. Set the lines and went the first hour with nothing -- not the way to start a half day trip! Finally a king hit the starboard dipsy 250' 42 second Dr. combo. Fish won. Then a pair of small fish. Finally at 9am a good king slammed the WMD down 93', followed by a nice bow on a Ju-Ju-Bee slider on the 67' rigger. Added another mature on the bottom lure (Pickled Nipple) at 67' then finished up with another on the 200' dipsy pulling a silver echip and crazy B. One of those days when no waypoint provided more than one fish and no depth or lure went twice. With no good fish before 9 the day seemed to be over just as we got it started!! CC
  7. Bruce, Thanks for your help with my boat repairs!!! A second set of hands was just what I needed. CC
  8. Price reduced $1200.00 all riggers, double rod holders and swivel bases. ++ I will throw in a 25# stinger weight for the Brute. Call 716-560-2878 Will be off the boat on Tuesday 7/21 and on e-bay Thursday 7/23 Thanks, Capt. Carl Bish [email protected]
  9. (==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Kings are at the Oak today!! Found them in 235 fow bigger fish were 95' down on the riggers and 250' and 270' on the dipsys. Dipsys were the hot setups today with all but 1 of our big fish being taken on them. First blood was drawn by the 250' dispy with a silver echip and a crazy B fly. The A-Tom-ik tournament rig broke in two and the big fish swam away after taking 150' off the reel. The next fish hit on the other side 270' down with a white echip and a moonshine blue smoothie fly, this combo took the next 3 fish as well pretty much as soon as we got it set it would go again. We put the same combo down the middle at 95' and that rig would take 3 fish including the largest of the day a king just shy of 25 pounds. Several other fish took the 42 second spoon down 57'. Riggers just did not produce like I thought they should today, neither did the copper, BUT I'll take what we did get. Very good to fish a lake that our clients could stand and fight a fish on!!! Hope the kings are still there in the morning. CC
  10. Out of our port when you get a sustained east wind the cold water rises in the water column. If you can stick with the fish (trolling south usually) you can continue to catch them. One of the very best east wind spoons is the pirate M & M white back or the new DW peels M & M silver back, lemon ice has also been good the past several years. Back to staying with the fish, if you are out there when the water is moving and you are not able to stay with the fish you will have a long troll. So if you are near the end of your day pull and run south then set up and check out temps if the cold water is there fish it you will do well. If you arrive to a lake that has cold water 30' down in 30' check out that depth, like Rustyrat said it can be great. If the fish have vacated then do what Dave says and head out - until you find the 58 degree water down about 50'. Watch for current breaks or rips on your way out if you see them fish 'em. No doubt as a rule the east wind is more of a challenge, but the situation is the fish are moving due to unstable conditions in the temp/current -- not a change in behavior affecting diet. CC
  11. In impressed, did he need a boost to get up on the platform?
  12. Try this -- The skin of a brown trout on a coho's body. There should not be much confusion with coho, there may be some between a small brown and atlantic. The tail and head are the dead give-a-way. With all the football browns in the lake there really has not been many browns that look like them either. If you are not sure and the fish is under 25 inches, just throw it back. CC
  13. Any one want to fish the one man tourney with me?
  14. Why can't I join the derby after I catch the big fish????
  15. Here are some pictures from the day. The first one is Ray's attitude about being .2 mph too fast (IHMHO) the second is how hard he cried when that MOONSHINE TNT took the last fish -- baby!! Here is a pic of Ray's Brown:
  16. Hey Tom, when we going again? The wife just finished the last of the sandwiches last evening and as she was wiping the horeradish from the corner of her mouth she told me I better fish with you some more!!!! Thanks, CC PS. Are you sure you didn't read my report 'cause they both mention the same lures and sequence and lack of hits on the port cue stick???
  17. I have 3 Top of the line Big Jon downriggers that are less than 1 year old. I want $1600 for the trio. Available as soon as I have their replacements. Nothing wrong with them. I just do not like them the brute is too fast and the pro tourneys are too gold. Will separate . Carl Bish 716-560-2878
  18. Do you fish 4 guys out of your boat? I had a 16 footer, but any more than 3 guys in it and we were too crowded to move. The rules of the proam require an observer so you would have 4 guys. I would suggest that you, until next year when you can afford a bigger boat, that you get your observer and another fisherman and put a post up on this website looking for an owner of a larger boat to join your team and you will cover the entry fee and costs. I got a feeling you would find someone. OR, Charter a boat to fish the tourney a bit more expensive, but you would be in the pro division and if you split the cost 4 ways your talking only a several hundred a person. CC
  19. That NK is the one that we call the 42 second spoon It catches fish everyday. CC
  20. Small fleas are starting to show up. Few on the 20# mono, not enough to change yet. About 2 inches and hour on the 30# powerpro and wires. Put a spool of 30# on the boat and be ready a few warm days without an upwelling and they will be in full force. CC
  21. Can't believe that Ray logged in under 5 names and got the poll wrong!! It was a great day, lots of fun, outstanding guys I am glad we could put it together. Tom is a heck of a fisherman, Ray keeps the conversation moving!!! CC
  22. ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Fished with Tom (Fishinman) and Ray (Ray Kxctzskiski) The day began with Ray calling me at 5am asking the combination to the cabin so he could "secure his rain gear" translated -- Steal moonshine lures. Well got there just before 6, approved of the rig that Ray wanted to run for nearly 9 hours without a hit, Tom arrived the rain began we observed a moment of silence for Michael Jackson and we finally left the dock. Ray had already expressed his concern over fishing on a boat that didn't leave the dock until 6:03 so I placated him by allowing him to use the port out and down exclusively and to run his "Rig" -- the one he ran for nearly 9 hours without a hit. Ray had his rigger down to 50' as we came off plane and settled down to a trolling speed of 3 mph -- later (about 21 seconds) I would find out that 3mph was not a proper trolling speed and I tried to make adjustments to lower it a bit, but the current kept us moving at 2.7 and that was .2 too much for the "Rig" that he ran for nearly 9 hours without a hit. I was then informed that Musky Bob had tampered with the tackle box and the most efficacious lure was not on board and did I have a black and purple gold star spoon with a brass hoard??????? or something like that. To sum up Ray's day of fishing, in an attempt to make a short story long. Ray's purple lure popped almost right away at 51 foot and Ray managed to land a small brown atlantic. The next fish hit on Ray's R&R purple seeded watermelon slider a small rainbow. All the while Rays other "Rig" that he ran for nearly 9 hours without a hit ran silently along off the port side of the boat at 2.7 mph. At 7:30 Tom and I, tired of the dumb "cat that ate the canary" look we were treated to for the last hour, decided we would begin to fish. I grabbed a slide diver set up and put it out on the starboard side of the boat, Tom did some switching of his rigger and we sent a Saturday Night Special out on the 374' copper after a long story. We set the boat on a N/E troll with the plan to turn at 250 fow. The slide diver took the next fish (167' out 3 no ring) then we turned at 250' marked a school of bait, put in a waypoint, began to circle the bait and the Saturday Night Special on the copper started screaming. 10 min later Tom boated his first ever copper fish -- a nice 12 pound king. Shortly thereafter a steel hit a blue whale slider on Tom's 54' rigger. After a long dryspell, Tom's rigger popped again, this time it was the mag frog down 70' foot. Then suddenly--as we were talking about dipsy hits, or the lack thereof, Tom's dipsy began to peal out and after a short fight (the dispy didn't release) he boated a nice steely on a mag orange crush. All this action and still two "rigs" had not been touched all day, my center rigger and Ray's "rig" that he ran for nearly 9 hours without a hit. We both switched things up knowing that we were nearly out of time and neither one of us wanted to end up with a skunk rig. Ray put out his best spinner with a hammer fly and I pulled out a Moonshine TNT (yes, I was playing dirty) we dropped them down and waited. Moments later a rod began a tuggin', the tip just a shakin', a battled ensued and the small rainbow was lifted over the back of the boat with the............................TNT hanging from it's mouth. Good luck with the poll. CC
  23. Yep!! much better lookin'!!! Thanks for the pic!! CB
