I call bullsh/t. He jumped off a boat.

Sturgeon has a mint launch. Good bass structure around also if the walleye are not biting
-
Adam, I think the deeper launch in the North launch. If you are fishing Walleyes drive a little further to Sturgeon Point or the Catt.

7/27 Wilson trip update
Gill-T replied to MeanMachine's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Welcome to the addiction. -
Thanks for the invite, but the wife got wind I wasn't going out and threw together a state record honey-do list! Good luck, should be nice wave conditions for the kids to be along.
-
Sorry the crew crapped out. I won't be out on my vessel Make sure you peak inside first thing in the morning. Lots of bait in 60-70' FOW.
-
I might be out in the morning also.

Lake Chautauqua, no sign of fish :X
Gill-T replied to splig's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
That large black and white/silver Rapala, and those pikie minnows in the bottom tray would work, but I would say you need to take trip to the shop. Easiest bait to catch a musky on for beginners is a large bucktail spinner for casting. You will need invest in some heavier equipment if you get into trolling large plugs. -
Yamaha 9.9 problems starting and with staying running
Gill-T replied to genEus's topic in This Old Boat
Make sure your spark plug is the recomended brand. I tried on my 9.9 merc to replace the standard NSK with a Champion plug and had a horrible time getting a spark. Put a new NSK in and voila problem solved. -

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):7-22 Time on Water:7:30-1:30 Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 9 Total Boated:7 Species Breakdown:Steelhead, Brown and skippy kings Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: 2.25 mph-2.5mph Boat Depth: 62-72' Lure Depth: 68-48' ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Tough grind out there today as the far-reaching south shore turn-over had cold temps, crazy currents and WEEDS. Strong east to west current inside with an increasing NE current as you head out. TONS of bait but very little in terms of targets on the graph. Decided to grind out the inside water instead of jetting out to the fence offshore. With all the bait inside we thought we would eventually run into some decent sized fish but the fish had other ideas. You really had to check lures every 10 minutes for weeds which is trying to the senses. My feeling is when those kings find all the bait inside it will be game on real soon. ====================

Contamination CLOSES KERSHAW PARK BEACH CANANDAIGUA
Gill-T replied to FLXTroutman's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
They have been finding e-coli in the sand on Lake Erie beaches. Unusually warm summer. I took my new puppy down to Wilson State Park to teach the dog to swim, but the beach was rolling with green slim (looked like 1985). Bad year for beaches. -
I have hit bottom with a small hot'n'tot fished off 5 colors in 65' FOW going 1.5 mph.

What the heck is this? Caught in middle of Lake Ontario
Gill-T replied to Captain's Cove's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Problem is they don't put up much fight until you get them in the boat......then all hell breaks loose. -
fly leader break offs?
Gill-T replied to hawkeye625's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
The theory that the leader can get caught behind the treble is almost physically impossible unless the hook is thru a small piece of skin at the tip of the nose or bottom lip and the hook can cam/rotate back on itself. For any hook inside the mouth, the leader could never gain a loop behind the hook to jam as some describe. This time of year we hear the same complaints as mature fish start to show their pronounced teeth. Slide your finger across their teeth next time you a major......and enjoy the paper cut! Try tying some single treble leaders with braid (without beads) to a barrel swivel to fit under the fly and your problem will be solved. -
Nothing magical about the topedo weights compared to standard drop weights other than the aerodynamic design allows for less line out to achieve certain depths. The depth charts provided which help to design a spread are a bonus.

The youth gun hunt will start in October so wear some orange coming and going to stand.

Not essential but recomended. Mid-day a silver finish spoon does not need any glow. Good rule is use glow with overcast days or low light situations. It comes down to the simple premise of can the fish see your bait? When in doubt, pull the glow out.
-
As you reel in your line, slap the line on the surface. The surface tension will pull off most of the fleas. This works with braid or mono, but don't do it with wire or you will wonder where your dipsy went.
-
I used to run a lot of attractor balls but now have gone to stealth. By taking the color out of the equation, you simplify your decisions on what to run. I only use clear and black dipsy now also. Using the camo pattern used to flatten shapes in the wild (see whitetail deer), I paint the top of my torpedos black, the sides green and the belly white. Not sure if it helps but I have noticed a lot less streaking around my balls displayed on the fishfinder.

Yes, nice tip on the Boga Grip. I have been using the Boga to release fish but by holding it. Was always an issue with doubles or clearing the back of the boat quicker so the Boga on the tether should solve that. How far back do you set your tether? Off to the side or off the back? Nice report as usual.

Bigweeniebrand.com Best glow beads on the market. Glow for hours on a single charge. Best fly/bead combo the last two years has been the A-tom-mik glow/mirage fly with Big weenie blue-glow beads. Put it down and forget about it, works all day in any light conditions.

Use braid with mono leader. Attach torpedo with OR-16 orange release to braid. Reset line counter and deploy using the dive curve chart provided to target the depths you want to hit. Fish are scattered all over the column so anything from a three color down to the bottom. The torpedos get kudos for telgraphing the little white perch, silver bass and yellow perch better than leadcore.
