  1. Congratulations! I have not heard of any kings caught in the lake this year yet so you may be the first!
  2. I will be interested to hear of any good charter trips this week as a few will be venturing out. Still a sea of mud along the shore.
  3. Pictures of muddy water over the banks maybe. On my way to Allegheny St Pk to fish the lakes there I saw a lot of early risers standing on bridges scratching their head.
  4. Cool 😎. I have heard of some being caught by lower Niagara drifters but still a rare catch.
  5. yep. As much as birds came back early, I noticed the hybernators were absent. I tried going squirrel hunting the final weekend and never saw any.
  6. I thought the bar might clean up a little so we could finally venture out, but I smell a rat!
  7. I am predicting windy weekends this spring.
  8. I have got those…..30 mph gusty weekend blues.
  9. Snow yes, snows no. This wind has to calm down at some point.
  10. Be careful keying on the word composite construction. A composite is a combination of different materials. It does not mean wood-free necessarily. For example a fiberglass/ wood construction is a composite.
  11. Healthy looking Laker.
  12. Launches are open but man this weather sucks. https://www.wnem.com/2023/03/11/la-nia-winter-ends-what-usually-follows-spring/?outputType=amp
  13. Same sh1t different day. https://www.fingerlakesdailynews.com/2023/03/05/1744483/
  14. Congratulations Brian. 👍 See you in Olcott!
  15. Anyone else notice high flying geese flying/migrating westbound? Not sure if this is a pattern/route change from traditional pathways?

  17. Any of you that purchased these after my post and then tried them, quickly realized that with the swivels present on these units cause them to unwind the twists placed in the fishing line prior to placing the line in the release. I think I solved the problem with a little cheap reengineering with binding wire.
  18. I noticed that since Gibbs bought Michigan Stinger, they are not contracting with Protroll. They seem lighter and there is no echip.

    Board releases

I use Weldon’s pad releases. They may be under a different name now. Put them on a metal dog snap and they shoot down the line no matter the wind speed
  20. It is not as simple as you make it out to be. During the spring derby, the predators are super concentrated in Niagara County. If you polled the rest of the lake at that time you might hear that there are no fish in the lake. Compare Lake Michigan stocking figures to Lake Ontario. Lake Michigan has always outpaced Ontario in stocked salmon and trout.
  21. Two single masts will reach up high and make your boards perform better.
  22. 2012 was the last time I caught a fish over 30 lbs.
  23. 2018 was when we had that incredible 2 year old bite. 2016 was a mild winter and record hatch of alewives
