Ya, I got the bug. I am used to putting the boat away after the fall LOC ends. I am considering storing it in Ohio for 6 months and extend my season.

I done lost my mind. I blame dummy dots for mind control.
  5. I am pretty sure there is an anti-smoking campaign commercial opportunity with that scene depiction.
  6. In my youth fishing with my brothers in the Green River, NC, my youngest brother was holding my days catch of trout on a metal stringer dangling them in the water while sitting on a large boulder. I hear him giggling all of a sudden and look to see him raising up the fish with a giant Hellbender latched onto one of the trout. Thankfully, it let go. Ugly things!
  7. Although beautiful looking boats, I have noticed the Carolina Classics in my area are like the game hot potato. New owners end up selling them soon after buying them. Not sure if it is the ride or the aforementioned engine issues or other.
  8. True dat! It was disturbing to see floating dead adult Muskies among the other species affected by VHS.
  9. The decline of bass numbers coincided with decline in emerald shiners post zebra/Quagga Mussels IMO. There used to be all kinds of suspended Smallmouth when shiners were everywhere. Now they are plastered to the bottom as gobie eating specialists. Thankfully, smallmouth can live along time to counter the nest raiding effects of gobies.
  10. I am assuming this was a live score tracker event or was it after June opener?
  11. You might have drifted by a rock. I can keep a small piece of worm 1.5’ off Lake Erie bottom (crawling with gobies), and not get touched
  12. They breed multiple times per year. Extremely prolific. If you are seeing them in one place, they are probably everywhere. I will say that they don’t leave the cover of the bottom so if you get your bait up a little, you shouldn’t have trouble with them.
  13. They have the UV glow moonjelly tape. As the old lady in the Tabasco sauce commercial says “I put that sh1t on everything”.
  14. Perhaps the answer is to only close the season from mid/ May through June 30th.
  15. If that is a Fingerlakes fish….a giant male rainbow!
  16. That is one reason I don’t use cameras. It is better not knowing lol.

Water temps has me thinking I might have one more trip in me. Anyone else heading to Ohio anytime soon?
  18. Does anyone have Harvey’s contact info? Thanks.
  19. Hard to say what the overall effect on ecosystem would be but for alewives and kings, moderate temps over winter is a benefit. For every 4 degrees of elevation in water temp, the productivity of a system goes up by a level of 16x. The Tule strain of salmon off Washington ( not to be confused with the tools in Washington DC), evolved in ocean temps that does not vary much from the 47-55 degree range. The interesting thing to watch is how this large class of three old kings being active and chowing down all offseason on the nicely rebounded alewife year classes and perhaps buck the trend of smaller body sizes. IMO this is a good year to change out your mono and check your drags.
  20. First NitroFire shot ended with a dead tree. Second shot 5 minutes later was a little better.
  21. If the fish I am catching in the Niagara are any indicator to what is to come, the fish look really healthy, bigger, good color, and no lamprey marks.
