  1. Not a good start. They just don’t make zippers like they used to. One doe with flag up ran by me so far otherwise no movement. Not even squirrels. I think critters are sensing the storm bands approaching and are already bedded.
  2. Let’s get ready to rumblllllllllle
  3. John, like many bad things these days, Gobies came from Russian ships. BTW they make great smallmouth bait. You can’t transport them but once caught, send them to within a foot of the bottom tail hooked.
  4. Lots of gun cases and ammo boxes at Cabelas in Buffalo. I am no longer felonious. Thanks Hochul. I would love to hear how a locked car is considered unsecured.
  5. I took a stroll on some state land around Ellicottville to see what mast is dropping. Zero Beech, zero oak, a few apples trees bearing fruit and a few hickories. My takeaway from the walk is hunt agriculture because there ain’t much food in the big woods.

People buying it up like toilet paper during COVID lockdown. I have seen interviews with ammo manufacturers and they all say they are producing more ammo faster than ever before. It hits shelves and poof! Gone.

I hope not. My fear is if more appear, bunny huggers will close coyote hunting to prevent accidental shooting of wolves.

  10. Sorry to hear Ken. My wife is a Hospice nurse. Let me know if I can be of any assistance to you during this difficult time.
  11. Son of a pup! I was blowing gas going way offshore to catch a derby steelhead and couldn’t buy a big one. Here you are within eyeshot of shore getting bigs…. Frustrating. Good job 👍
  12. I don’t have the boat for it.
  13. When left alone they will columize like that. I have caught them 15’ down with a flasher fly down to the bottom. Enjoy!

  15. Eriebuck, fish those fish late afternoon into the evening and I think you will find them in a better mood.
  16. Looks like a silver leaf spoon iteration or knock-off
  17. I could never understand the chemical control of weeds. I don’t get it. If your dock is a little weeded in then get your swim trunks on and grab your dirt rake! If anything there should be banning of using fertilizer on any lawn on the water’s edge. The lake is plenty fertile from the farm runoff and the sewage treatment water storm water discharges.
  18. This might be the last year of pen reared kings? Someone correct me if wrong. I thought Wilson penned fish went to Olcott.
  19. It is taxing on the senses but if you are over staging fish you have to keep pounding them until they activate. If you leave the marks too early you will miss the bite windows. Set up in the dark in the morning and fish til 9 am. Go in and get breakfast and a nap then head out after lunch and fish til dark. If a front is approaching, make sure you are over marks as this usually activates the fish to bite. Give them a menu of all bait types as preference will change day to day and even mornings to evenings.
  20. 4 mile to the Canadian line on the bar probably has the most fish to play with
  21. It was getting bumpy when we left but totally fishable to start
  22. When we left the lake at 9:30 this morning she was iced out inside with no fish showing. Pier season should kick off tomorrow for those of you spoon chuckers
  23. Warm water has blown back in for now. I would think the lake will flip at some point. We went out in the 6 footers to check for marks and do a temp check and the fish are mostly gone from shallow water.
