Fished the FLTA Tournament today on Cayuga out of Dean’s cove. We ran South and set up for a North troll and as soon as the lines hit the water it was game on. We had are 5 fish limit by 7am so all we had to do is fish for an upgrade with the hope of getting a big Laker or two. We had four or five fish on several times today, my kids and my dad (driver) got a work out. Jason and I just kept setting rods and they reeled them in as fast as we could get them out. At one point Jason had two fish on while the rest of us were reeling, even the five year old got stuck cranking on an 8 color while her sister was bringing in a 300 copper. My dad got to bring in a good Laker on the wire diver that ended up going 13.3lbs and won lunker for the day. Jason had a net job to remember, he was sliding the net over the back of the boat when the nice salmon my daughter had on dove down under the boat, and then shot up into the air and landed in the net. I would have loved to have that one on film. Core, Copper, Wire divers out 200 and riggers from 30 to 70 all took fish. Everyone on the Lake today was hammering fish and the weights at the scales showed it; several big Lakers and Salmon were weighed in. We finished in 1st with 37.2 lbs and my girls are still talking about it. I think my daughter said it best when she said- Dad this was the perfect day .

Fished Seneca today for 5 hours with a great group of folks from the area. The action was not as fast as Friday but we still managed 15 fish most of them were Bows and Salmon with a few good Lakers in the mix. We found a lot of fish and bait you just had to work the area a few times to get them to go. We had a big bow get into the wire diver and brake off, and lost a few others. All but three fish went back to fight another day. The lake was like glass and the weeds are starting to show up. We did have a first today BEES it all started with one honey bee that landed on my shirt. Within a few minutes we had thousands of them on us and the boat. At one point we had two fish on and every one was locked in the pilot house while Jason and I fished with bees. They got so bad that we had to pick up and fly down the lake to blow them off.

Great Job, Thanks for the report When you are done at the end of the day do you hook the swivel up to an eye on your wire rod? I found the wire bending over the end of the rod on a bumpy ride home will make a week spot. I just reel the swivel up to the tip and lay it in boat. Never had a problem since, any place you have a nick or kink it will come apart. Sean

Had an afternoon trip with some folks from KY today. I hadn't been on Seneca since the Derby and I figured the fish had started to move to the summer spots. We set up in one of my favorite Bow holes around 1:30pm and it was game on. First rigger dropped to start of Thermal-Cline at 40ft and Bow on. We put 8 nice bows in the boat and some great salmon. We only had to keep two 18 inch bows and the rest were let go at the back of the boat. The guys were game for laying off the bow zone so we set up with four wire divers and got them some nice lakers for the grill. At 6pm we were picking up rods and all hell broke lose. 6 FISH ON! one rigger, 3 wire divers, and two boards. What a way to end the trip with them all at the back of boat and released Salmon, two more Bows, and the rest lakers. After this we had one rod left in the water, a deep wire diver flasher/and fly rigg. It fired and it was off running for Watkins. After a good fight a 15.3lb laker hit the net . I grabbed him, took a quick pic with the client and he headed back down to 100ft. He was the biggest Seneca laker I have put in the Boat.

Go North the fish have moved out of South end. The T-Cline is setting up at 40ft then will drop down a little every week from now to August. We had a good day North yesterday, if I would of been fishng the South end I would be in the same situation as you. It sucks making a long run but you got to run with the fish. That South end can look great but not give up the fish, You will get them figured out Sean

Back on Cayuga today for some more great fishing. The fishing was great and the action was non stop all morning. The temps were a lot colder than a few days ago (only 48deg down 40ft), and the lake was churned up. We had to go into search mode for a bit in the morning but once we found them it was game on. The guys put some monster lakers in the boat as well as some Salmon and a nice Bow. We were able to let all the big lakers go and kept a few 3 ponders for the table. Thanks to Jason for helping with the trip and recording all the fish the pen never left your hand We had several triples and doubles all morning. We did have a few weeds today It won't be long now and it will be a mess. Riggers, Wire, Core and Copper all took fish with spoons and flasher/flys.

No problem Zebedee. Those bords are hard to see, I had to push in a little to get the slmon tht was floating on top. How did you make out in that area? It slowed down a little when we were picking up at 11:30. Sean

It was one great day to be on Cayuga. I had a full boat with my 8 year old daughter, my cousins 8 year old son, his grandma, and my mom and dad. Yup a 12 rod spread . We launched out of Ithaca ran North to Taughanock set up and trolled North. My daughter ran 4 wire dipseys, she is getting good at letting them out and setting the drags. We also had two riggers down at 40 to 60ft, and 6 boards from 15 to 60ft down core and copper. It was non stop from 7:30 till 11:30 when we packed up and headed in. we had several doubles and at one point we had four wire diver fish on. We put some nice fish in the boat Salmon, Lakers, Bows and two Browns. We let all that we could go at the back of the boat. One Salmon we had to swing back around and pick up after he floated to the top. The two kids did a lot of reeling with over twenty five fish between the two of them. The big weenie flys that Jason left on my boat from the Wilson tournament were on fire today. Thanks Jason I hope work was fun today . Purple, and orange/red spoons were hot off the riggers and boards. If you can find bait in the 20 to 80 ft range out over 120 to 300+ it was non stop action.

Thanks for the report

Deans to Sheldrake and South of Sheldrake towards Taughanonck would be good. I launch at South end but don't fish it. Get Brian on the lake, I spent may days thinking of the Lake, or the deer woods while I was stuck in a fox hole in the sand box. Give me a call when you get close to going I will let you know where to start. Sean

Did a last minute trip to Cayuga today with Jason and my three year old daughter Sally aka little two pole. We got a late start, I had to get the other two girls on the bus. We launched in Ithaca and ran up to Taughanock and set up at around 9:30. It was non stop action the entire time we were on the water. Every rod took fish and they were big. The wire divers were hot with Big Weenie flys and Spin Dr's, the lap dance fly took Lakers and Salmon. Spoons and cranks off core and copper were on fire and the new super slim spoons Jason gave me did the job on the riggers at 40 and 60. We did 22 fish before the little one got too hot and we headed back. Jason did a 12 lb Laker off the rigger that fought like a beast. We only had three fish that we couldn't let go, all the Bows and big lakers were let go at the back of the boat. The little one had a blast putting fish in the boat, she is still talking about it. The fish look great an Cayuga and they were stuffed with bait, only one Laker had an old lampary mark.
