Got a day off from the Finger Lakes and am going to Ontario in the Morning. I can fish from Sodus to the Oak its a 45 min more drive to the Oak but if that is best thats where will go. What do you guys think? Will be my first time back up on Ontario since the Wilson tournament in May. I don't see to may Sodus reports but that might be because more guys are fishing out of the Oak. Thanks Sean

We always have 4 wire divers in the spread for big Lakers. I would dump the riggers before I would lose my divers. Sean

Owasco 7/8/11 not such a succesful day
Hookedup replied to rshubuck's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
You had the right plan. Ditch the cranks put on some small yellow or purple spoons on 4, 5, and 6 color core. Find the bait out deep, start looking in deep water just North of center of Lake then head South. Once you find some bait in the top 40ft pound it in figure eights. Run your normal speeds 1.8 to 2.3 you will get them on the turn. The crappy weather days seem to be best but two years ago I pounded them at 1pm on 90 deg day. I have not got to fish Owasco yet this year but you got me wanting to get some eyes now. It will be the last of them now that they are done stocking them. Sean -

Great report and one heck of a load of fish -
I got that tweetered phone call to, along with some big fish pics while I am home with the kids . I think I heard him yell fish on two times while we were on the phone along with Choot-em Choot-em he watches to much swamp people I still have yet to jump on the face book or tweet band wagon. I could see how some guys could get some good info from it if it was used correctly.

Fished Cayuga today out of Ithaca with a group of 6, we had a full boat. Jason and I had our work cut out for us with the strong North/East wind, fleas and all of the weeds. We still managed to pound the fish with over 25 put in the boat. Bows, Lakers and Salmon were taking spoons from 40 to 60ft and big weenie flys form 60 to 120. We found a new spot with some huge Lakers; we let 4 go at the back of the boat that went 10 to 14lbs. This would have been one heck of a day for a five fish box tournament. The clients were great and went along with my one Bow per boat limit. They wanted some Lakers for the smoker so they kept the smallest ones along with two good salmon. It was one of those days when the auto pilot ran all day while we reset lines nonstop due to weeds. The fleas were so bad today the hooks had gobs of fleas hanging off them. Other than the crap on the water, the fishing was great. The Bows are in the summer spots and liked what we were feeding them. The lake is warm 74 to 76 on top and the T-Cline is around 43ft down. Best speed was 2.5 GPS and 2.3 at ball with most of the active fish 40 to 60ft down.

Do we pay the 10$ at the scales? Do we have to launch at Mires or can we just come in for the weigh in? Im thinking about launching in Ithaca since I am coming up from Horseheads. Thanks Sean

Just got back in town from our Alaska fishing trip, and wanted to wish you all good luck in the Derby this weekend. Looks like the weather will be perfect for some big fish on Cayuga and Seneca. We had one great time in Alaska and caught more fish than we could count. We lucked out big time on the weather sun and sixty with flat seas the whole week. The great weather allowed us to run 80 miles to areas that don’t get fished that often. We ended the trip with over 350 lbs of fillets that we shipped home. Mostly Halibut, Ling Cod, Black Rock Fish, and Yellow Eye along with some other rock fish in the mix. Figured I would post some pics, and if any of you ever want to go we went with some great captains out of Homer Fishing Grounds First Days Catch Sisters Yellow Eye One of my Ling Cod one of Dad and first mate (not as good looking as Jason ) Sister's monster Ling Cod Dad with a big Ling one of many Halibut Lots of whales second days boat one fast rig

Probly take the girls out. We got a couple big Laker and Bow spots down on both lakes. Will depend on weed cover. Or might just say to heck with it and go catch some Kings

I put one on in March and have had no problems. I also have two subtrolls on the boat and they work great also. The only issue I had with the X4 is I touched the display one time and scratched it. So take it easy on the display its not glass like the subtroll. Sean

The duck liked donuts . I forgot to mention we got our first fleas of the year on the wire divers

Did a five hour trip out of Ithaca today with three great folks from the area. The North wind and front that blew in this morning around 730am made us work for the fish. The active fish for the morning hours were around 50ft down out over deep water. Around 11am the wind started to change out of the West and the wire divers out 150, 180, 200, and 240 took off. The hot rigs were spin dr’s with Big Weenie Flys. The Lap Dance and Lake O Glow flys were on fire. We ended the trip with 20 fish some nice Bows, some great Salmon and Lakers the biggest was 11lbs. The big Lakers and salmon hit on the fly’s, DW spoons were hot on the copper and riggers. A big thanks to Jason for helping out while I got to rest the back in the drivers seat . He had a friend who hung out on the swim platform for a long time today .

Large Red Pleasure Boat Swamped Me at Long Pt Cayuga
Hookedup replied to 1dogshy's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Or you will get shot! You could report it to DEC they will keep a look out for him. Don't bother with the coast guard on the Finger Lakes, the Sheriffs Department has a boat up that way also. Not much that can be done if they don't get caught on the water. Sean -
great report
