Planning on fishing Cayuga a bit more this fall than past years. Have looked at recent reports. Figuring the fish are Atwater and south mostly at this point. Probably dunk in at Myers. Any suggestions appreciated, PMs are fine w/ me. Thanks guys! -Andy (Blue/White Islander or White/Green Alumacraft)

Unlikely catch and unbelievable story.

Great Job!! Thanks for sharing! Here's mine: Years ago w/ Young son bringing in his 1st good king on a rigger hit. Fish was hot and right behind the boat fast!! I've got the net out and thinking to myself don't f###k this up. Fish flies right thru the port rigger wire like we're standing still and bolts towards the diver rod. I actually saw my son's line snap on the rigger wire which jolted the fish for a sec. Instinctively I stuck the net in the water on the port side and after breaking the line the Fish turns real, real fast & swims right into the net making DAD THE HERO. the end. Great report, good information. Thanks! -
Ran 1 rigger, 1 copper, 1 diver first thing to start to see what was going on. Hit 3 in a row on the 400 copper and lost all 3 after heartbreaking battles. Now the diver and deep rigger had been dead for 1 1/2 hours so switched to 2 coppers +60' rigger. Then the rigger went 2 times in a row and nothing on the copper for quite a while so pulled the coppers and went with 2 cheated riggers and put a meat rig on the diver rod. Diver fired 5 mintues later with the best fish of the trip. Got that in after a major fight, reset the rigger after releasing the steelie and that is when hell broke loose on both riggers (thank god I had not put the wire rod back out yet). After that I just ran the 2 high riggers and headed back because I was pretty much dead tired.

The kicker was the double up of matures on the riggers just minutes after I finally got another major in on the wire. The wire fish ripped over 200' on the first run and did 2 more big runs. I had to rest my left arm after each pump before I reeled, then just as I was beginning to consider how I was going to net the thing with that long twinkie between the diver and the slasher a steelie blasts one of the cheaters and starts leaping all over right behind the boat. Pretty cool!

Agree with Choked up, if you have depth raider, I'd shoot for 2.2-2.3 down at the ball, which yesterday was 2.9-3.2 surface speed for me. Speed is probably more critical than what spoons/flashers you run. Fish are spread out from 90-250+ fow depending on wind, time of day, etc. If you don't have down temp/speed etc. I'd put the riggers at 55 and 65 and weave back and forth going from 100 to 200 fow going 2.6 to 3.4 That will tell a guy with your background everything you need to know in a hurry.

Hey Mark, good to hear from ya! On Friday I was out of there by 10:30, went 10 for 13, with 3 matures (2 came as rigger doubles-that was interesting..). Successfully released a bunch of teenage kings & steel. Biggest king hit a twinkie trailng a brined alewife with the head n' tail cut off stuffed into a BW meat head -the fish took out 275' on the first rip. I'm game for another August Oak camp n' fish if you are, have to see what Chris is up for.

Different day from yesterday with some bumpy water that was tough to fish solo unless running with the wind. Found fish on much the same presentations as 7-8. All teenage kings unlike yesterday but I didn't stay out long, want to get over to the Prate festival in Olcott. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
