  1. I talked to Toothie last night and since he's not online, I will relay what he told me: he has a call into the folks at HQ to get detailed info on exactly the we need to do and the specific process we need to follow. He's asking them to send any/all paper work we need to fill out to formally submit the application for chapter formation so that we have that for the meeting. Once we have that detail we will be in a better position to know exactly what needs to happen at the next mtg (beyond nominating/electing board positions) and we can put an agenda together for the meeting and be prepared to identify and discuss the next steps for each board member. Toothie will keep me updated on his progress and I will relay any and all info. He is calling them again today. Stay tuned... Brad [ Post made via BlackBerry ]

  5. When are you going? The musky season doesn't open till the 3rd saturday so it could be a moot point. Otherwise, as I understand it, the fish from a bay towards the lake tend to be migratory and follow the bait out into the lake, following it back in come fall. Thus down river is a better area in summer as capt larry and others mentioned. [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  6. I like the okumas as well. Its not for trout or salmon but... I have 10 colors of 60 lb on a 50d with enough room for a little backing. Good reel for the $$$. [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  7. Chad, temps ranging from 50-55 is what I found. Water was a bit green, but it was tough to get a good sense since it was so windy/waves [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  8. It was about the same for us...nothing like last year. Coupla follows was all we could muster. [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  9. Nice job! [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  10. Ha! You funny zach! That's crazy $ [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  11. They may have an injector issue but that not withstanding, don't forget to use seafoam or some other cleaning agent (like Merc's Quickleen) in EVERY tank and do a 10-15 minute high speed run afterwards whenever you're able. The DFI motors are very prone to carbon deposits especially if you run them down near idle for extended periods. I have around 200 hrs trolling time on the most recent set of plugs on my optimax (mercs DFI) and haven't had an issue with fouling since I started following mercs recommendation to use quickleen with every fill. 12. Leadcore is generally too thick a diameter to give an accurate reading on the counter, that's why its color coded. I would go by color rather than the counter for 'core. [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  13. I totally agree about the WNY thing being too narrow, but NY may be too broad. I would say 'Upstate' [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  14. The counters are calibrated to work with a full spool. Fill 'er up; use extra backing as needed [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  15. Thanks Chad. Livin' vicariously here...but now I need a pic of a LIVE fish...in YOUR hands [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  16. I can't comment on the practicality of the approach, but I think you will find the upfront sterring more responsive in pulling the bow where you want to go vs pushing the stern where you don't. That said, if you use the GPS from the MK I don't know whether it would always be running (pulling you FW) or just turn on to give you the steering inputs as needed. If the former, you will likely run out of juice quickly on the TM battery. Guess it depends on whether a target speed can be programmed into the MK as well as the course you want to take (i.e. Set the target speed below the actual boat speed) [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  17. 7 is better for me given a distinct possability I could be flying back that day. If so, I could do 7 but not 6, given flight times [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  18. Wow that's even better than a rubber band: reusable! How are you attaching it to the pole? A split ring through the hook keeper or something else? [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  19. That's a cool idea! Though if you're getting a lot of creep or have to really crank em down, consider upgrading the drags to carbon fiber. I have found they are less prone to this than standard felt drags (you can set the drag more precisely) [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  20. I'm jealous zach (but only 'bout that last part ). Thanks for birddogging this thing. I suspect dicks would be ok while we're gettin this thing off the ground and buy us time to look for a more permanent home as the #s grow. On that note, assuming roch being the central point between syr and buff, henrietta is logical as its the middle exit and close to the thruway, right off the expy aka convenient. 21. Good luck guys. If any team has a shot at it, its the two of you! Keep us 'posted' [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  22. Ok, back to the most imminent issue: getting chapter 69 off the ground. On the issue of officers: I see we have some volunteers and some nominees but do we have those positions all buttoned up? From what I've seen, I suspect we may need more folks willing to pitch in. I'm happy to volunteer for whatever position you all choose, in the event you need more support, just don't put me in charge of the $$ [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  23. You need to consider the gas in the lines/carb, not just in the tank. Once you pump the tank dry I wonder whether you'd be better off running the motor dry too or if that would have ill effects on the seals etc.(Maybe hook up to a portable tank that has ethanol free gas / stabil mix and run that into the motor?). I'm sure someone else with more detailed knowledge on the subject will chime in on that. [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
