  1. A friend of mine mounted a second helm below the main wheel and ran a second steering cable to the kicker., seems to work well. With auto pilot, you could mount a mini steering wheel on it.
  2. I believe Ratheon and Raymarine split several years ago. Unless you need missiles, You want Raymarine. Their service dept. is in the US, but their sport pilot was from the U.K.
  3. http://shop.easternmarine.com/ I think it was about $60 a wheel for a complete assembly, cylinder, shoes and backing plate. everything is ready to bolt on. Maybe $120 for actuator/ hitch. Did it a couple years ago. I was told not to bother rebuilding the master (hitch) cylinder because of parts cost and rust removal. Its an easy job. Good luck.
  4. Now it has come to belittle one of the small struggling business that this is supposed to help? ( Hughe's marina) You have proven my point, If someone doesn't agree with your way of thinking, gang up on them. This will be my last post on the subject, so back pats all around! Good luck with future un-biased polls.
  5. Ray' nice job with the numbers, sounds like Washington. I never said only 10% were for it. I only questioned why 10% bothered to sign. I do attend the state of the lake meeting, most years, and I am aware of the numbers that the understaffed Dec came up with. We hardly ever see the creel censous crew anymore. I also remember'08 was a slower catch, but 07, 'o9 were fantastic.
  6. I wonder why more members don't post their opinions?? I can't believe dragging 5 or 10 thousand extra lures around the lake every weekend won't affect the fishery. Can we agree to disagree? It may go through, but the reasons I've read, are weak and selfish in my opinion.
  7. Glen I am not saying there are 90% against it. I do believe people are hesistant to say they are, and risk verbal abuse. My view is: Undecided. I have not heard any good reasons. Everything so far has been a real stretch. It sounds like lowering the basketball hoop for the short guy. The economy is responsible for the decline in people to the area. The fishing has been quite consistant for the last 30 years. You can't tell me that by adding one more rod that folks can all of a sudden afford a trip to the lake. It won't save energy or create jobs, what am I missing? You and I both know even if it went to one rod, most of the members would still be on the lake. If it does go through, I hope the hook points or number of lures does not change. I would rather have 2 rods with cheaters than 3 clean. Also, if they go to 3 hook points, that means no jplugs, stickbaits or flies with stinger hook.
  8. Thanks Rail bird!! "Has been" didn't deserve what followed his post. I did read it before is was deleted. He may have removed himself. Woudn't blame him. One thing I noticed, there are 640 + names on the petition and over 6000 members. 10 %?? in favor?
  9. Well, I am on the fence with the three rod thing. Foremost, fishing is about the challange for me. I love to out fish a boat load of guys when fishing two rods. On the other hand, when you haven't had a rip in two hours, you start thinking about that dipsey in the cabin. But a couple things I've learned in the last 25 years, if they ain't bitin' it doesn't matter how many lures you have in the water. And MANY times less is more!! Two riggers and two divers (and two guys) on the right day, can make you a hero at the dock. I guess I am not in a hurry to fish the lake out. Still on the fence, HM
  10. Moor is having a sale right now, you may want to check with them. Postcard arrived last night.
  11. You may also want to look at Moor Subtroll. I have had very good luck with mine. I prefer the analog speed over digital, it seem more consistant than my old Fishhawk. JMO
  12. I love my Simrad ap12r. I had a Raymarine sport pilot plus before and it was a constant head ache. always in the shop and only worked half assed at its best. 5 years on the Simrad, no issues.
  13. Siggs rigs also sells components http://www.siggsrigs.com/online-store.html
  14. I have been using Okuma Catalina 25 line counter for the last 4 or 5 years. No complaints, great handles! They hold 1000' of 30# no backing needed. Replaced the Daiwa 47lc's because the small handles made it like work to reel in.
  15. Yamaha high thrust. Much better trottle control than Honda.
  16. I am lead core shopping, I can get it from Cabela's $17 for 200 yds. 27# test. Has any one used it? Thanks in advance. HM
  17. Buy a 5" x 3/4" x length 6061 t6 aluminum drill and tap for mounts, and you will never have to worry about rot or finish.
  18. I have been using my old 4/0 penns for lead. I was thinking of upgrading the reels, the Penns are 2:1. What is a good rod/ reel?, roller tip? How much backing/ #test? for backing and lead? Thanks in advance!! Dave
  19. Yes it is a transom mount. I have an aluminum Lund. Through hulls are not an option for me, wish they were. Thanks for the response. Dave
  20. I found an aftermarket xducer made by Airmar that will work with blue connector Lowrance screens. It is dual frequency with speed and temp. Has anyone tried these?? Sells for about $150. Has to be better than the included one. I am on my third xducer in 1.5 years. Love the screen(lcx 37c) hate replacing transducers every few months.
  21. I moved up to a Lund from a Starcraft 4 years ago. Both are 22' boats. The lund ( with cuddy) ride is equal in my opinion to glass boats in this size and weight. The starcraft was a tin can and had a slightly rougher ride, but served me well for over 20 years. I haven't missed any fishing because of rough water in either boat. When the government outlaws recreational boating, I will be sitting on $3000 of recyleable aluminum!! Glass $0.
  22. Hey Jerry, Welcome aboard! You may want to get a copy of spell check from Salmon Bound Just kidding, Dave
