  1. I owned a1720cc. In fact I think the same exact boat Irish 1-3 owned. Good boat!
  2. Nice John. I haven't even gotten my boat wet yet this year. Hope all is well!
  3. Pink line-on-made or limonade
  4. I really enjoyed your post about your boats. I am looking forward to your posts about fishing. I don't get out fishing as often as I'd like so I'll enjoy my passion for boats and fishing through others.
  5. Nick I am all for helping Sampson marina. It is very disappointing to hear the state wants to close the marina down. Perhaps a separate thread focusing on this topic would make sense. I believe you started a petition thread in the past. I don't get out to fish that often but would really like to contribute to the Sampson marina cause.
  6. Nice response lakebound! it is very disappointing to hear how uninformed and / or biased the media can be.
  7. Just a thought. Take a look at the new robalos. Very dry ride. Very high gunnels. Front entry through center console for portapotti. Awesome boat. I have the 180. Rides and looks like a 20 footer.
  8. Thanks again. The setup using 50#mono is awesome. Much nicer to deal with. No pigtails and less chance of break offs.
  9. Nice report. I fished north end. Not much luck . Solid hit first 10 minutes. I should have stuck to east side . Not much on screen on west side . I think I was a running lures a bit too deep. I used fishhawk td after the fact. Was to eager to fish and put lines in first. Laziness never pays off!
  10. We are renting a house starting 8/1 thru 8/8 about 3 miles north of Sampson. I guess I'll see firsthand if the northenders have a slight advantage over the southenders and middlers!!! I'm always up for a mulligan. I am hoping to fish most early mornings before the family gets up and going. I will use the 'hot spots' map for areas to try. If anyone has other suggestions on starting points or thoughts in the north end it would be kindly appreciated. Thanks and see you on the water. Stay safe! Dave
  11. Thanks for the feedback. Copy and paste is a wonderful thing and then just update. Not trying to make anybody look bad. I wish my reels were always wound as tight as as I am!!! Thanks again!
  12. Good morning. Not an expert here. Just love to fish. I am posting to contribute as I have taken info from this website. Hopefully someone can learn from my successes and/or failures. As always, I gladly welcome positive reinforcement and/or constructive criticism to improve my angling. Date: 7/23/15 Plan: Got a last minute call from my friend from Buffalo who was in area. We made last minute plans to fish. I was originally going to meet him at Severne as I have been having some success on that area north in the past couple weeks. Due to late start I suggested we meet in Watkins. Should have stuck to my original plan. Lake: Seneca Launch: Watkins Area fished: west side, center of lake and east side Crew: Friend from Buffalo and his 12 year son Time: Started out at 5pm-845pm Direction headed: set up near first point on east side and trolled north toward Peach orchard point. Pulled lines and cruised further north a little bit. Set up lines and trolled north then crossed lake. Trolled north on west side then turned around and trolled south for a time until dark. Depth of water fished over: 80ft to 500ft Wind: out of north Surface temp: 70 Water Down temp: This is second time I used my Fishhawk TD temp probe. 65deg-30Ft, 58deg-40Ft, 51deg-50Ft, 48deg-60Ft, 46deg-70Ft. I assume this is accurate. Can someone confirm if these are temps they have been seeing? Setup: Rod 1 – 3 color core with small michigan stinger on inline planer board Rod 2 – 5 color core with small michigan stinger on inline planer board Rod 3 – wireline, #1 dipsy out 150 ft on 2.5 setting using michigan stinger orange spoon Rod 4 – wireline, #1 dipsy out 120 ft on 0 setting using mountain dew paddle and fly Rod 5 – wireline, #1 dipsy out 120 ft on 2.5 setting using michigan stinger watermelon spoon Rod 6 – wireline, #1 dipsy out 140 ft on 0 using NK28 mountain dew spoon Results: Nothing happening. Didn’t really mark anything good on fish finder screen except for 2 small areas in shallow water. Fleas and weeds were very bad all over. Got to use for the second time my fishhawk td and new rod holders from Cisco fishing systems. Nice night to be out. Wish we would have caught at least one fish for my friend’s son. Question of the day: Is it true that fishing in south end is tougher until later in the summer? When does fishing in south end really pick up? I expect some biased answers as I know there is a friendly battle between north enders and south enders!!! Thanks and stay safe. Dave
  13. Thanks for the ideas. What knot for tying to 50# to wire? Thanks again.
  14. Thanks for the ideas. What knot for tying to 50# to wire? Thanks again.
  15. Thanks for the feedback. The TD has good reviews. It great to get your positive feedback as being local and using in same environment as I. The TD should assist in zeroing in on the proper zone. Many times I fish solo so I need to make every rod count. Thanks again for the positive feedback.
  16. Good to hear people are finally having some success on Seneca. Sounds like Seneca is starting to heat up as far as fishing. I marked lots of fish near smiths park. Unfortunately, I was not fishing. Kids and their friends wanted to tube. They did not want to get dumped in water though til the end. They lasted longer than I thought. I brought poles with in case they backed out of wanting to tube. It's amazing what temp water kids will play in. Great day on water anyways. Kids and I enjoyed ourselves. Timed it perfect before the rain. I will not be able to fish until 2 weeks due to work. However, when I get back I have a new toy to use. Wife and kids bought me a fishhawk TD (portable temp depth gauge)for Father's Day. Good luck fishing to all and stay safe. Save me some fish to catch for when I get back. Dave
  17. Pleasure to meet you. Yes I was considering going to Cayuga but had a curfew from the wife and didn't want to get stuck in ithaca traffic. More time on water. Also i don't know Cayuga as well. My wife is actually pretty understanding. I just needed to be home by certain time. Actually talked her into getting a fish license on Saturday. Now just need to catch fish to get her interested. As far as long report. Copy and paste is wonderful thing.
  18. I was in blue Robalo. Yes if you were with your dad and heading over to severne.
  19. Launch: Lodi Area fished: Lodi Crew: Solo Time: Started out at 6am and fished until 12 noon total for day Direction headed: trolled north right out of the gate on east side Wind: out of South Surface temp: 49 to start on east side and 55 over by Dresden Down temp: NA Setup: Rod 1 – 3 color core with purple michigan stinger Rod 2 – 5 color core with watermelon michigan stinger Rod 3 – 3 way swivel with 1# ball and NK28 mountain dew spoon. Wanted to stay near bottom or bounce on bottom Depth of water fished over: 30 ft to 100ft Results: Nothing happening Area fished: Decided to pull up rods and cruised up near Sampson. Thought I would give northern pike fishing a try Direction headed: trolled north and south Wind: out of South Surface temp: 49 to start Down temp: NA Setup: Rod 1 – Flat line with 3/4oz little cleo Rod 2 – Flat line with silver color stick bait Depth of water fished over: 6ft to 12ft Results: Nothing happening Area fished: Cruised over to Dresden area Time: Spent about an hour here Direction headed: trolled north with the waves as it was bumpy going against and difficult when solo Wind: out of South Surface temp: 55 over by Dresden Down temp: NA Setup: Rod 1 – 3 color core with watermelon michigan stinger using walleye planer board Rod 2 – wireline, #1 dipsy out 160 ft on 2.5 setting using NK28 mountain dew spoon Rod 3 – wireline, #1 dipsy out 200 ft on 0 setting using mountain dew paddle and fly Depth of water fished over: 100ft to 140ft Results: 1 laker on Rod 2. Word of caution. Not an expert here. Just love to fish. Hopefully someone can learn from my successes and/or failures. As always, I gladly welcome positive reinforcement and/or constructive criticism to improve my angling. Thanks and stay safe. Dave
  20. I get the impression your addicted. Check messages.
  21. Good evening. What is the consensus on how people store their wire rods? I am looking for some specifics and details. I understand that the line needs to be stored tight. Currently, I store mine using rubber bands to create tension. I put the rubber band through my swivel and also thru eye near base of rod. My rod has twilly tip and line still has a agressive bend at tip. Thoughts and suggestions greatly appeciated. Thanks. Dave
  22. Bandrus, Nice area up there at long point state park. We did a family trip on the boat and hit a winery for the wife. My little girl caught her first fish, a sunfish off the wall, in the cove at the park. I didn't fish at all on Saturday. Sounds like I should have madew the trip up there on Sunday instead of the south end. Rustyrat, Fortunately or unfortunately, you made me feel a little better. I wasn't sure if it was my inexperience or if fishing was bad. I was out Sunday and put in at Ithaca. I trolled from Ithaca to a little past myers point. I put in 7 hours and zero results. I still enjoyed my day though. I fished solo and ran 3 rods of the following 4 different options with some switching as I thought fit Mag dipsy on wire 210 feet, 0-1 setting with flsher and fly Size 1 dipsey on wire 150-160 feet out 2.5 setting with spoon 5 color leadcore with spoon Size 1 dipsey on wire 210 feet out 1setting with spoon I did mark some fish in front of myers at various depths. Had one release on 150' dipsy. Wishful thinking was it was a short strike. Seems like I saw lots of marks in different areas very deep such as 125-150 feet down.
