    My suggestion would be to jig bucktails or blade baits anyway. There are always some eyes right off of the Drop offs there. Shackleton Shoals is probably your best bet though. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

    Around here coyotes are hunted heavily in the winter. There is a local group of guys that runs them with dogs and they kill 70+ yotes a winter. It makes ZERO difference. The population drops for a few months until they adjust with big spring litters and then you are right back where you started, It would take some serious hunting to actually make a difference and you would have to keep the pressure on them forever.

    There are many East end charters that rely on lakers to save the day for their clients many days. I bet there are a few out there right now fishing for lakers. There aren't many kings on the East end in the spring... To each their own. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

    I would agree if the lakers were eating other game fish. It has about the same effect as throwing pickerel on the ice. Some people actually enjoy catching them. Do what you what with them, it is your right to throw out a resource. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

    No sign yesterday. I imagine that it will be at least a week before the docks go in. There is a good amount of room to get around the docks though. Seems like more space between the docks and the curb than normal. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

    The ice was already cracked from strong West winds. It didn't just break up, it was already in large pieces. I was on Chaumont last weekend. The wind was very light yesterday out of the NE according to wunderground. My guess is that the West wind held the ice in there despite the current. Until the wind got light and switched.     Did you save the fish? I think the lesson is to watch the wind carefully. That NE wind got ya. Be thankful it didn't happen in the middle of the night. No different than Oneida or Erie when part of the lake is open. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

    Exactly, throwing them on the ice does not accomplish anything. It is a very old school mentality. When I was a kid they would be all over the ice. I always throw them back. Wasting any fish is not okay in my book. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

    They spawn under the ice and late ice on Oneida is a good time to catch them. I have never targeted them but I always catch at least one every year. They hit walleye stuff and perch stuff, they are pretty aggressive. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
