Agree 100% with Chuck Smith. To put the boat in nuetral with a full trolling spread is nuts in IMHO. If that's how you want to catch Kings then go to Devils Hole and cast from shore. We will slow the boat on a big King and sometimes turn almost 90 degrees to reduce pressure on a freight train run of 400-600 feet on a big King. But never would we put the boat in nuetral . Doubles,Triples and Quads are alot of fun. Just my HO.

I tried 30 lb blood run sea flea line. Found that 30 lb big game did better job keeping fleas off.

I much prefer the VHF over the cell phone. I learned how to troll Niagara county waters of L. Ontario by listening to two charter captains on there secret channel. I miss the chatter on the radio that we used to have years ago. Sometimes that chatter totally saved my day. I've made good friends with quite a few fisherman from talking on the VHF. I find channel 10 & 68 are a good place to be on Niagara county water of L. Ontario. Sometimes we'll pick a channel no one ever uses and we'll just stay on it all day along with 2 or 3 other boats. My boat has a remote speaker for the VHF. IT sounds like your sitting in the boat right next to us. Just my HO on VHF.

Yes its open. Deeper water at south launch. We always use the south. Can't tell you about north but it will be shallower.

Be careful what you buy. Suffix makes a performance (micro) lead core and a traditional leadcore. Traditionals been around a long time. The sheathing is dacron I believe. We use 27lb for Ontario and Erie trolling. The micro uses a different sheathing material. I believe its spectra ,the stuff that Power pro is made of. I'm not saying the performance or micro leadcore is bad. I'm just invested in traditional leadcore. I have a bunch of reels loaded with different amounts of leadcore all with traditional 27lb. A friend likes the micro/performnce leadcore and all his reels are loaded with it. If you go traditional you gotta use either the insertion knot or the VQ knot to make connection of leadcore to mono or flourocarbon leader. Checkout Vision Quest Sportfishing on Youtube to learn the VQ knot. I used to use the insertion knot, now only use the VG.,much easier. For backer I use power pro 30lb tied to leadcore with an albright knot. I do not replace my ledcore every year, Got some thats been on reels 4-5 years. Forgot to mention performance/micro supposedly gets down 30% deeper then traditional cause its thinner. Especially like to use inline boards with sickbaits for Walleye on Erie. A 5 color catches alot of eyes for us. Late in summer we'll run four 10 color rods. Good luck.

I'm on my second TR-1 in last 20 years. It really helped sell my 1989 Lund Genmar back in 2015. Current boat is a 1997 22 ft Penyan Outrage with a 9.9 Prokicker. Love my TR-1 and my prokicker. If the TR-1 dies I'll probably replace with garmin reactor 40 which I've heard very good reviews on. Love the boat control and economy of AP on the Kicker. Trolling with AP is fun. No AP is not fun IMHO.

Have a 2010 Merc 9.9 pro Kicker on my 22 ft Pennyan . As mentioned in earlier post its made by Tohatsa. I've been very happy overall with the motor. Did replace the electric starter motor a couple years ago. Don't think I've replaced water pump impeller yet and I'd say its time. If I was looking to buy a new 9.9hp I'd take a good look at Tohatsa . I know the pricepoint is alot lower then Honda, Yamaha or even Merc

Its a Yay for me. I've heard alot of positive reviews from people using it. I'm gonna put together 2 combos and give it a try. Never went all in on copper. Just own 1 300 copper. Don't use it that much cause its not user friendly. My fishing partners don't seem to like copper. Know some good captains that said goodbye to coppers and replaced with weighted steel. Gonna try it this year.

I know the Ninja board is designed not to release until it gets to the boat. Whats it like fighting a big King with the Ninja still attached to the line ? I'm thinking of trying them for running 10 color or 300 weighted steel rods.
