  1. To answer the two questions from Brudenship, yes the responses would come up the same on this one or a new one. To my knowledge old posts aren't achieved, you found this old one. Now the caveats on the aluminum cuddys. Inboard/outboards dwarfed outboards in terms of sales. The newest ones from the major brands are around twenty years old give or take. I had a Sylvan for 8 years quite a while ago so I went through the search a couple times in their heyday. I don't know what is available from the West Coast like Hewescraft etc, but these have only entered the east coast markets in the last few years. I look at boats on-line all the time, I can say so far this spring is has been very sparse in terms of what has been out there and right now I can say that I have seen nothing lately. That includes Detroit, Sandusky, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Rochester.
  2. Still off-season in our part of the world so perhaps the best time of year to seek out a good used outboard or get in contact with some dealers to get on their list as trade-ins appear this spring.
  3. I look at boats all the time. Have sold my share and bought my share. I know these boats and like its smaller brother the 2450 they are commonly available. So it needs to be priced in the sale range. No trailer is a drawback, but not a deal killer. I will say that right now you are priced in the range that these typically sell for. You are hitting it early for the upcoming season. The economy is soft. So be sure to put your price where it is clearly visible and go around and update the sites you have it posted elsewhere. Good luck.
  4. As I referenced earlier I had one of these. Now I see the pictures mine was the same color, with the OMC Cobra and started off with the single axle trailer then switched to a tandem. Nice boat.
  5. Agreed. Makes no sense why there wouldn't be. There seems to be everywhere else in today's world.
  6. They re-do all of these rest areas(last done in 1993 by the way so not really that old) and they don't have cameras posted in areas which have a high potential for criminal activity like human trafficing, drug dealing, and unfortunately burglary. The question is why not?? Things like this have me convinced we are doomed. One reason may be that these service areas are contracted out and managed by a private firm so maybe that is the reasoning.
  7. Go with the tanks as they are, add some Stabil or some other brand fuel stabilizer to the tanks. You are using ethanol free gas to temper problems. Pull the batteries, I would give them a charge about half-way through winter. If the stay in the boat and you are not charging, disconnect them. After two recent battery failures-which I have never had in all the years I have been around them I have changed my approach with caveat that it might have been the quality of battery. I will find that out next spring. Now others will probably disagree but those are my suggestions.
  8. It is a neat set up and concur about always forgetting a thing or two in spite of best efforts.
  9. We live in a deteriorating society and one would hope that someone wouldn't steal it but if it is just attached to the trailer with no deterrent someone might-it is a lot easier to grab than a spare tire. Just my thought.
  10. A while ago, I had one of these for seven years also with the 3.0. Very fuel efficient and also very deep on the inside for safety reasons especially if you have younger children.
  11. SOLD 3/11/2026 2-Big Jon Captains pack downriggers with rod holder mounts. One has the Depth Raider temperature system installed. $900.00 Location Fredonia NY 14063 Posting for a friend I will provide contact info if you are interested. Send a pm. Thanks
  12. Nothing overall wrong with any of the three. Problem is like many older boats they develop stringer failure or transom failure so be sure to have a survey done by a competent surveyor prior to making a purchase.
  13. Will let you know if I see anything. Right now I can say there is nothing on-line close to WNY and I look at things on a regular basis.
  14. If you are coming this month bear in mind the wind becomes more of a factor as we move through September. Lot of days it is blowing or blow off vs. calm days. North East Marina ramp is still open in North East PA. Barcelona, Dunkirk and Sunset Day/Irving in New York are all good choices.
  15. It has been a number of years since I have had a boat in the water so I am sure someone will respond with the latest to clean it. As for bottom paint, I had a 22 Sylvan aluminum and there is special paint with a different base ingredient in it. I think it was a name brand called Micron but can't recall. There is a base coat to apply first. I got it at West Marine at the time.
  16. Taking kids fishing when they actually catch some is a plus. Hopefully gets them hooked on outdoor things for a lifetime.
  17. Insurance issues have killed a lot of participation type events in the past few years that were around forever. So, I am figuring that and all the other hits that they have probably taken in the past few years like any other entity factor into the payout structure. If participation is down obviously that hits the bottom line.
  18. There are a number of guys on here who have purchased boats from salt water and have had positive experiences. I think in the size range you are looking for you will have plenty of availability in terms of used fresh water boats. But if you head in the salt water direction, do your homework and detail work on it.
  19. In your budget range, you should be looking at the above mentioned Whaler and Grady. Beyond that there are other brands out there such as Seaswirl Striper, some Wellcraft fishing models, Sportcraft, Proline and you might get to Parker etc.
