  1. I hope that my post did not offend any of the small local business owners on here. I will definitely check out the couple of shops that have been mentioned when i am in need of some gear. I enjoy just walking around Dick's and Field & Stream more than i do actually purchasing something. It's usually a time killer while my wife is doing her shopping at the mall
  2. Awesome!! Good to know that there are people out there that will still do the right thing in that type of situation!
  3. Sorry for your misfortune this morning, but to be honest i'm glad to see that i'm not the only one that experiences things like that .
  4. Hope he gets the bow back! Check local listings on E-Bay or Craigs list too, if it doesn't "fit" them, they might try to get some quick cash from it online.
  5. Thanks. I have been down there a few times but just did a quick walk through to see what they had. Didn't really get a chance to compare prices or anything.
  6. Nice informative video, thanks for sharing!
  7. Is anybody else having issues with the Field & Stream store website? I've tried over the last couple weeks to get on their website since i don't have time to get down there too often, but all i can see is the home page and that's it. Thanks, Sean
  8. fbg, I'm sure you are right about that, any time a huge buck like that is harvested there will always be people that question it. I don't know if it was truly a wild deer or not, but either way it was an incredible buck!
  9. If you have 10 minutes, take a look at this monster Iowa buck that was taken with a muzzleloader this year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mg7Z4juaGo8
  10. Congratulations on a great buck, Mike! I like how symmetrical it is
  11. Funny how when somebody mentions something like a tick or lice, your mind starts playing tricks on you and you start feeling like you've got something on your skin or in your hair
  12. If the decoys are still for sale could you send me a PM with a price on the full bodies, as well as a price for the 24 shells? Thanks, Sean
  13. Thanks for the useful information, Chris! When we found the tick on my 9 month old son, we had a lot of people tell us that there was nothing to worry about because "it looked like it hadn't been attached for very long", and the probability of him contracting Lyme from it even if the tick was a carrier was "very unlikely". However, when talking about your first child, and under a year old, "very unlikely" doesn't really mean a whole lot to me. If you have any symptoms as Momay has said, get it checked out by a doctor.
  14. Nice report Les, and the scenery is great! Must have been a great day to be on the water; the fish were an added bonus!
  15. Just in the last couple of weeks, my wife and i found one behind my 9 month old son's ear (luckily it hadn't been attached for very long), my brother found one on his stomach, and my uncle found two on him. Just the last couple of years i have heard about more people pulling ticks off themselves and their pets than i have ever heard of the rest of my life. With the seriousness of Lyme disease, we need to figure out something to get them under control.
  16. I heard on the radio a few days ago that if every individual in NYS that owns a hunting license this year would vote against Cuomo, we would outnumber those who are expected to vote for him 3:1. Don't quote me on this because it was on my way to work and i may not have been completely awake at that time . The problem is actually getting everybody out there to vote. Many people want him out, but will sit in their living room and watch it on TV hoping enough people voted to get him out. I like what hookedupf7 said, who knows if Astriano will be any better than Quomo, but it's worth the gamble. I don't think he could be much worse!
  17. So sorry for your loss Wes, you and your family are in my prayers. Thanks for sharing the pictures and stories.
  18. Thanks for the reply we will keep all of that in mind. The areas we are looking to hunt don't have any cottages or houses near the shore for about a half a mile in either direction, so at least we won't have to deal with people saying we are on their property (hopefully). I will post how we do this weekend, we also plan to do some steelhead fishing while we are there
  19. My brother and I are planning a trip to Lake Erie this weekend, and since we have never hunted the shore of Erie before, we basically wanted to make sure we weren't going to be breaking any laws by hunting there. As long as we are not walking across posted property, is it legal to hunt from the shore of Lake Erie? We were thinking about following a creek down to the lake and then find a spot to set up from there. If anybody has any information for us on this, that would be great. I checked the seasons and from what I read both duck and goose season will be open this weekend. Thanks Sean
  20. Were you hunting out of your kayak, or was that just used to get to a particular location? I was thinking about buying a kayak to use both for fishing out of as well as hunting ducks from. Was wondering how you like it if you were actually hunting out of it? Thanks
  21. Did you have your GoPro on narrow or wide view? I haven't used mine in the woods too much, but if you have it on narrow view it shouldn't look as far away as it would in wide view.
