Good Morning... If anybody by chance happens to get a look at the Lake today along the Niagara Orleans County shoreline can you please give an update on conditions. Looking for water color conditions I would like to drive up in the morning for browns but have a feeling there has not been enough wind/rain this week to keep enough color in the water. Let me know if you can, thank you. I've learned clear water conditions make extremely tough brown conditions.

If the water is clear fishing can be very difficult. 100-125 foot leads are typical for me. Finding water with color is more important than anything. I find that if I'm in about 6 fow and I can just barely make out the bottom = lights out brown fishing.

Hey guys, New to Lake Ontario. Looking for some information on fishing thermal bars. I have only fished the lake for browns in spring and summer. Generally speaking what time of the year do the thermal bars set up? Is it difficult to locate them? How far offshore, what depth can they be found around? Tips on fishing around the thermal bars as far as tackle and techniques go? Any and all info is greatly appreciated, I'd like to give this a try sometime. I'll just have to pick my day wth my small 16 foot tinner.

Fished 1030 - 130. Went 10-13 which included a double and a triple. Only fishing three rods solo so bite was decent. A good breeze started blowing out of northeast and called it a day. 6-10 fow. Hot steel and perch colored f9s were best. Two went over 10 lbs with a few 8-9 as well. Nice color cold water yet.

Thanks for the info guys. Saves me a long ride for tough conditions. A good NW or N wind would be nice for a day. Can't wait to get out. Off all next week so hopefully conditions will change.

Help with spoons
overthelimit replied to flybuster's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Last year I took a couple old cannon manuals and fixed the up with clamps for the back of my 16 goot tinner. They produced some fish but not as many as sticks. 70 to 90 foot leads with stingers standards run at 2.1-2.3 . Drop the ball down 2-4 feet. They did take some of my better fish though. -
Gill-T any tips? Never fished the bar. Big minnows and kwikies I hear. I'll be out in a 16 ft tiller. Thats why things are very weather dependent.

Thinking about hitting the bar if the winds are light this weekend. Anybody Know what the ice situation is? Are the launches at the fort open? Any info would be appreciated.

I love the rule with fishing solo most of the time. Nothing like a triple on browns or walleyes to get your heart pumping. Hope it's put on the books.

Looking for a few spoons, half dozen or so. Stingers or dwss for browns. Clowns, nbk, purples, greens, dwb. All the spoon lots are usually pretty big on here. Just looking for a few to add to my small collection. Only fish the big o a few times a year and don't have much money to dump into tackle. Pm me if you have a few you're willing to part with. Thanks.

Summer Browns?
overthelimit replied to Turfwrench's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I started fishing in the spring a few years ago. Last summer I decided to try for browns in the summer for the first time seeing the freezer was well stocked with perch and walleye. I only have a 16 ft tinner so i picked a couple nice days to head up. I do not have a probe so I looked for the thermocline on my graph, this was in August. Typically it was in and around 65 ft. I then concentrated on 60-75 fow. Pay close attention to the bait. Browns are pigs so whenever I found bait balls on the bottom I got bit. Never crushed them, caught 6 or so each time but still had fun. Divers out fished the downriggers 3-1 for me. -
Thanks. That's was my understanding but I wanted to be sure.

After looking at the regs, I understand a limit on lake o is three fish in combination. Are lakers included in this three fish limit or can you keep two in addition to your three fish. Never kept any lakers but sometimes fish for them in the spring after browns.

Cabelas Depthmaster Combos
overthelimit replied to Adk1's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I have a few magda's paired up with ugly sticks. They make a nice inexpensive combo. I primarily fish Lake Erie for walleye but fish ontario in the spring for trout and salmon and thy have handled well.
