  1. fishermansteve That happened to me at Woodville launch last September, bent the winchpost pretty bad , had to remove and remount before trailering home...no fun alone ..sticking with Dean's from now on
  2. Gotta know how deep it is to troll with my tin can You wanna see depths change quickly, troll the St.Larry sometime...WOW..Its spooky how steep the rock ledges are in there..cool though
  3. Thanks for the report Sean, looks like a perfect winter? day to troll. The salmon eat really nice!! Hope it stays like this for a while , I may venture out in the 16smoker if it stays warm. Happy New Year all
  4. Looks like a good time Thanks for sharing
  5. Shake-n-Bake you say, gonna try that!! I sit in the blind with the old browning heat bow and the 870...just a great way to have some fun and stay sharp with the muzzys
  6. Anybody get the itch to take out some post season deer huntin blues on the tree rats? With the lack of snow the squrrels should be roamin around outside a while longer, a great way to post season scout too.
  7. Merry Christmas all Special thanks to those serving overseas at this time. Thankyou for your service!! God Bless America
  8. Nice buck Chuck Congrats, smoke polen is awesome Got my first this year also!! feels good but I never saw anything..smokey wow
  9. Here is a buck 1.5 year old I took Monday after gun opened with my CVA .45 Kodiak magnum. 200 grain SST Hornady with the co-polymer tip. The sabot smashed through both shoulders at 75yards, lucky I was sitting and had steady crosshairs. I hate the powerbelts!! toss them in the trash :DI wasted 3 years screwing around with the power belts was never happy, groups all over the place. The Hornady sabots changed everything!! I was dying to get out this season and shoot a deer with the .45. This sabot gets a much tighter seal to the 777 pellets , I shoot 125 grains and get 3-4inch groups at 100 yards
  10. that is a true monster buck what a slob!! nice yeah, who needs a trip to Iowa
  11. Just perfect Mitch Good job Dad Congrats, ya can't beat that day!! Way to go
  12. Saturday 930am this big guy came cruising past my stand out of bow range but in full doe search mode. 3 tending grunts turned him to my tree and the 75 grain Muzzy was on it's way. He spun and dropped as the arrow was headed for the pump station and ended up penetrating forward the lungs but smashed through 3 ribs and buried in the opposite shoulder. 37 yarder He bucked and took off running outta sight. I had a bad sinking feeling when I climbed down and tracked some 50 yards no blood at all.. I took up the search at 3pm finding very little blood to none at times, on the knees alot looking for specks, no fun at all. Yup let him go overnight He ended up meandering about a 1/4 mile before collapsing in a thicket below an open field. So, the old 1995 Browning Heat did it again.thank you Muzzy 75!! Smallish rack, 1 tine broke off, extra brow tine but huge body. Honey, here comes plenty of sausage and burger Lousy camara pics.but ok [img][/img] [img][/img] [img][/img]
  13. Be careful with an outboard over 10hp there!! I was told you could not have one in your possesion on the state porperty and will be ticketed if you show up with one hangin even if it is disabled. I would call the DEC for that region and inquire about this. I troll off my 24 volt Terrova and leave the 30hp johnson here in the garage out on Hemlock and Canadice Launch at the north end if you have a 16footer..deeper there on Hemlock
  14. been there Jolly, at that age they are in hyper drive...thanks guys
  15. I have trolled Canadice off and on for the last 5 years or so. maybe 3 times per summer mostly. The best results for me were over the deepest sections of the lake and not very deep 40to60feet down over 70's to 90's. My wire dipsey rig is a sure thing in there set on a 3 and about 150-165 feet of wire out. The leadcore rig took my biggest laker at 6colors with a 100 foot flouro lead..spooky trout in here...not very deep and very good clarity. Smaller size spoons, pheobes, stingers, perch colored deep diving cranks are good too. My biggest fish both brown and laker came off a gold colored stinger spoons over the deepest part of the lake. You will occasionally pick up smaller lakers up shallow trolling right off the bottom in that 40-60 depth You can try shallow but the pickerel and bass in there will harrass your lures. Very big browns in there!! some huge smallies too good luck Rippin'Line...at least just my2c, I'm sure other presentations work well too
  16. If its not too windy, I would imagine the trolling out to 100 fow in November should be pretty good.Quiet too
  17. Mike, FLX that sounds exciting...national anthem ..wow hope it happens OK Yankee haters... 27
  18. lol,You are right, hurts too pay for technology these days... trolling motor $1400, batteries another 200, 16 foot smoker boat was 850 at a yard sale, 30hp johnson 60 bucks in a guys shed "just get it outta here deal...trailer 150 bucks at a yard sale Its a labor of love piecing together a fishing rig from scratch, but the big expensive boats I see at the launches are way outta my league right now. It was time for an upgrade and it was worth it. If I could just trash this Paranomax fish finder keeps shutting off
  19. Howdy, Does anyone know when the fishing from shore at Taughannock falls state park on Cayuga starts to pick up for trout? I know they do well there after the cool down but will this be in December or do they start coming up shallow before that? thanks
  20. really great stuff thanks for sharing So is a Splake a type of trout stocked in the finger lakes??
  21. rolmops, I too make alot of solo trips and the bow mount trollers with remote/gps are just incredible. I can program my terrova to hold course and speed if I need to turn a bit to net a fish or slow down I wear the remote around my neck. It was a pricey investment but I don't miss the damn fumes from a kicker and the 80lbs thrust really steers the boat well even in rough water with the long shaft. Keep the main motor down for rudder out back. If your doing solo projects often it worth looking into.
