  1. Second B and E. They had six or seven there two weeks ago when I was in Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. There are two Scotty releases. One smaller that is used for lighter lines generally spring browns and the larger ones used for downriggers/coppers. They are a pinch pad release. Use the larger ones for heavier lines (cores/coppers) Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. I always run a mix and see what fires. Down speed will all depend what you are using to measure it. For depth raider my best 2.1-2.3, I know the sub-troll guys like 2.4 and most fish hawk folks say 2.6. Start with one and if no action increase or decrease to see what fires. When you get a hit just repeat repeat repeat. Depth/lure and speed Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Deeper on the inside and shallow on outside that way when outside rod fires it naturally will flow over the top of the deeper inside line to the middle. Generally speaking the "spring time" releases are too light for the heavier lines. You can use the spring release with one or even two rubber bands to get through. I prefer the big Scotty pinch pad releases for my coppers Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. Now I know how the wife feels when Facebook is down. I was is panic mode Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. 14 wraps of leader around the diver. I never measured it but a old charter captain told me this a long time ago and it has always worked for me 'Bout Time Mike
  7. I have a trophy 23.5 hard top and it's pushed with a Yamaha T8. I would think 20 would be a bit much. I know a couple guys with 10 meter Trojans and 298 penn yans that use 25hp kickers. If the price was right and it works for you why not ??? 'Bout Time Mike
  8. I use to run just one per side ( 2 total ) but as the fish dictate I have changed to 2 on one side one on 1 on the other with 2 riggers and a Long copper off the board and maybe another down the chute if I have enough people 'Bout Time Mike
  9. I normally grab the rod make sure it's a good hook set and the drag is adjusted properly and hand it off. Whenever I have someone else on board I never reel in a fish unless we are on a double. To me I did my job setting the rods, depths, locations, speed etc. and when we hook up I consider it credit for me 'Bout Time Mike
  10. Nice job !!!! I couldn't get my program together and looks like I left deeper water too early 'Bout Time Mike
  11. Ran Solo on Saturday morning from 6-1030. I managed two Lakers and lost one nice fish (think it was a King by the way it was fighting). I worked water from 70-150 and ran 2 color lead of the boards, a 5 color down the chute and one rigger down 30-70 with free slider. The 5 color down the chute took both lakers pulling a Steelie Dan spoon and the one i lost came off the rigger down 70 pulling a frog spoon and a free slider glow frog. On Sunday Dad came out with me and we were set up and fishing by 630. My setup was 2 color lead off the board pulling Steelie Dan spoon. 2 riggers one at 35 and one at 50 pulling mix of spoons.5 color lead down the chute with spoon and 2 dipseys pulling Flasher/Fly combos. The 2 color lead fired within 15 minutes with a nice fighting steelie coming to the boat. Marked some fish but couldnt rods to fire the rest of the morning. i worked from 80-230 FOW trying everything from 10-90 down Was a nice morning to be on the lake even though i couldnt get my program dialed in. On a side not i came across this while fishing. I have never seen anything like it before. I was in 105 FOW. Maybe just bait but it almost had too much definition to it (too solid). it was rougly 15-20 feet tall. Im thinking just a massive bait pile any thoughts?
  12. Any pics of this setup 'Bout Time Mike
  13. Kudos to you for stepping up and trying to reach out to him. 'Bout Time Mike
  14. Best temp I could find was 47-48 surface temp and 43-44 down 30 over 70-90 FOW 'Bout Time Mike
  15. I ran 3 flasher fly setups and 2 spoons. I ran one spoon off my probe rigger and the other off a 200 copper down the chute 'Bout Time Mike
  16. Came with high hopes of putting up some big numbers on KIngs after hearing reports all week. Fished from 6-1130 ended with one king 20 lbs. the west winds really killed the temps. Marked very few fish. Talked to a couple guys some had similar results some never moved a rod. Our king came in rigger down 50 over 95 FOW pulling white board green dot / hammer fly 'Bout Time Mike
  17. West winds killed the temp that was there all week. Fish have definitely scattered. Fished from 6-1130 today managed one king a little over 20 lbs. marked very few. Looks like west winds right through Sunday. 'Bout Time Mike
  18. i would run it with the plugs gapped at 35 and re-check the plugs. If the gap is "too open" it will not fire "hot enogh" and will not burn off all the fuel. Now if it is still there after the the new plugs and it is fuel not oil check all your plug wires, cap and rotor etc to make sure there are no issues. if you find out it is oil i would have it looked at
  19. This is an Atlantic. Spots are sparatic and on gill plate
  20. I use black, black, and oh yeah black. If i find a good deal on some used colors ones I just paint them black 'Bout Time Mike
  21. Nice job and great fish. Way to Change things and go searching 'Bout Time Mike
  22. Just my .02, but alot of people think that out of that 500-700 they spend on a charter is all profit. Any GOOD charter captain is there an hour or two before the trip and at least that after the trip is over cleaning fish and and the boat. Most charter boats are not little and will go through at least $150 in fuel per trip (which is on the low end). From that take out percentage of insurance, equipment, dockage cost, liscense fee, First aid and CPR that are required. there is not alot left. There will always be those captains who do bare minimum to collect their check but any captain that is proud of his name and his vessel will show it in his work and will do his best to make your trip the best they can. If you had a great trip and feel that the captain and/or mate did the best they could in the conditions they were given i see nothing wrong with showing them some gratitude. I know many captains and know how hard they work and how much effort they put into every trip. again just my $0.02
  23. Generally speaking fair haven is pretty tough in June. There are some kings to be had but usually the lake isn't setup quite yet. I have found that 4th of July is usually the start of king fishing in fair haven. Just my experience. There are ways exceptions to the rule 'Bout Time Mike
