what is a VR2 attractor? is it a Smart Fish ?

Just read this off a post in the fishing reports section. "VR 2 attractors (looks kinda like a spin dr)" what are they? who makes them? any ideas? I have never heard of them

Here was my report from Monday....... "Decided to head to deeper water and see what was out there. Hit 1 fish in 170 and made it to 220 before things lit up. ended up 8 for 12 with 3 doubles. everything was taking shots. riggers at 60/80/90 and wire divers at 187 were HOT with 7 of the 12 hits. Took Kings on spoons (purple frog, wadler, and nuclear) Spin Dr and Fly for the rest. Hot setup was White Dr - green dots with Big Fin Glow. that took 6 shots. 350 copper fired twice."

There are Kings from Wilson to Mexico. If you read all the reports guys are hitting then just about everywhere. One day they are schooled up and another they are spread out. One day we were getting them in 30 FOW and the next day it was best at 220-300. I wish I could tell you that one place is better than the other but the truth is they are everywhere, dont be afraid to start shallow and work youre way out to look for them. Also for about two weeks it was strictly a spoon bite (for me) and last week I had 8 of 12 hits on Flasher/Fly combo's.

GREAT POST RICH!!!!! If it weren't for the fisherman on this site sharing informtion and answering my questions i would not have the hook up or catch ratio I do. I also would not have spent over 150K in this fishery including a camp, and a big lake boat. No one was born an expert in fishing or any outdoors skills for that matter. it was something they learned and were taught by their Fathers, Grandfathers, freinds, or OTHER FISHERMAN. It is a shame when a simple question is asked concerning the general fishing we are enjoying turns into this. I have wondered this very same question myself "will the KING fishing last all year, or will we have the JUNE transition period where we serach for steelies out deep" I guess we will just have to wait to find out..................................... It also amazes me that if you look at the people that are having an issue with this are the the same people who at one time or another asked for help

i have the big jons and have no complaints. they are a solid reel and do everything i need them to.

I was close to moon beach but was by myself. I was the furthest boat out. There were a couple other guys around 180 range [ Post made via Android ]

When setting them last is there a easier way to attach the lines to.the boards without crossing over the riggers and the dipsies? [ Post made via Android ]

Here is my setup. 4 riggers (2 corners, 2 outdowns), 2 dipsies (one per side), and 2 coppers (450. 600). I will usually drop probe rigger first and then outdown rigger next. AFter that I will let the dipsie out and slow "click" away on drag and work on the other side of the boat with both riggers and that dipsie. I have been deploying my copper last, and it is a real Pain In Tha A$$ to attach the copper to the big boards over 2 riggers and a dipsie. My question is do you guys let out your copper first to avoid all the troubles?

Another thing to try, if there is a "cup" inline with the washdown make sure its fill first and use some Vasoline/petrolium jelly on the rubber O-ring to ensure an airt ight seal. i had to do this this spring myself and has been solid since

Headed east of chute and started setting lines just before Moon beach. Hit fish the whole way. Started with cookie cutter browns and then took a major shot on the rigger after a great aerial show landed a 8.2 lb steelhead. Took another rip off the rigger and this time it was a 6.5 lb brown. The bite slowed when the sun came up.

you can mount the mast and reels in the front of the bow by the anchor strorage area. I have mine mounted in a 6" track section. The one thing I did was move my reels to the back supports on my hardtop so I didnt have to walk in the bow to let the line out. For you you can mount yours on the rails like "birddog" did and just run your lines to the mast in the front. I have had great luck running my boards this way. Just make sure you add a extra piece of line on the board line to "pull it in" and set you rods with. Mike

Picked up 3 Browns all 2-4 lbs, and landed one King around 14 lbs, and lost a good high teen-low twenty King (snapped 10lb test). Awesome action watching King jump and fight on light action tackle. One king took green nuclear spoon off rigger 5 down over 30 and the other hit a J-9 black and gold plug off planer board.

how are you rigging the rubberbands? are you half-hitching the band around your line and then using a shower curtain hook or similar? A fish will not always break the band (or any pinch pad release) you have to watch the line closely and will see a "shaker" then you just point the rod tip towards the release, reel in any slck line and pull towrds the back of the boat to snap it

i tried 3 different batteries to make sure that wasnt the issue. I have a call in Curt to see what he thinks. As a side note I was frantically looking for a spare because this was during the Fall LOC and Woody's Tackle in Port Ontario actually broke up a complete unit and sold me just the probe and said he would order a new probe to make the unit complete again. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE - NO ONE ELSE would do this for me

Depending on water color and clarity you can run these from 30-100' back off a rigger down anywhere from 3-10' depending on your depth of water. You can also flatline these off boards just use longer leads. as far as speed goes, let the fish tell you. sometimes as slow as 1.8 and sometimes they want it 2.5. dont be afraid to experiment and change speed

Last year my DR started giving me the wrong Temp and Speed readings. I checked it against a couple different boats next to me and mine was WAY OFF. the question I have is can I have this serviced/repaired from the factory? has anyone else had an issue like this MIKE
