  1. Got my boat out on Sunday to a Balmy 45 - 50 degrees and light wind. Trolled around with the second best fisherman on northern Cayuga Lake Yukonstu targeting Brown Trout and Landlocked Salmon using sticks high in the water column. No luck for the first hour so decided to fish deep. Dropped my normal Lake Trout trolling gear to 80 and 90 feet running over about 150 feet of water and BAM! First bite of the year and it's a nice one. Grab the rod and it's pretty heavy. Took my time reeling it in so I could at list get a look at it. About 20 minutes later this beast hit the deck. Hot lure was the Spin Doctor Mountain Dew Glow with a custom SBT superstinger squid fly combo in green color. That was the hot ticket and took three of the four bites today. Other bite came on a Big weenie white/green Coho type fly behind the SD Mountain Dew. Here is the 36" long 11 Lb 8oz. laker we caught and released.
  2. Ken, That's still a lot better than we did on Cayuga a few weeks ago when it was freezing cold and no fish were biting! At least all of the ice is gone. Wayne
  3. No doubt a pretty cool and very useful item. I just think that once you dial everything in once and record it, you wouldn't need to use it every time. I have a down/temp probe so my down speed is always in that 2.5 mph range give or take a little depending on what I am fishing for. Missdemeanor....My probe will tell me what the currents are doing and I just adjust my boat speed from there.
  4. Ice is 100% gone and State Park launch is fine. Water is higher than I have ever seen.
  5. It would be sweet if a tackle shop would rent you one for a day. You cold take it out, test all your depths on your divers. copper, and lead core, record them for future reference and return the equipment. I'd pay 20 or 30 bucks for a days rental.
  6. I launch my Trophy by myself. It is the same size as yours. It is easy but make sure you slowly back in the water and let it slowly float off the trailer. I tried to go too fast once and it ended badly As you back it in, tie it to the dock set out your bumpers, and just go slow. No big deal. Mine actually loads back on the trailer easier than my old 18' did.
  7. Man those LL's are getting so big. This Fall they'll be even nicer!
  8. I like that new proposal. Wish they'd do it for Cayuga. I think the Landlocked Salmon are the best fighting and best tasting fish we can catch in our lakes. I think it is pretty rare for most boats to take more than one Rainbow per day anyway. Basically this is allowing more Lakers to be culled. That can't hurt in my opinion.
  9. Those Atomik torpedos are really great for the price. I bought a few 13 lbers up at Screwy leweys in Oswego last year and I think they were $32 each.
  10. Very nice! I'm heading to Marathon for the first week of May. Can't wait to get into some Mahi and Tarpon!
  11. O.K. Not all standard pics but these are my best of 2010 These are what keeps me coming back. Wayne
  12. Weather looks really bad Saturday with gusts up to 40 MPH. If Sunday looks any better and if anyone is going I'm looking to hitch a ride. I was hoping for a little better forecast and I was going to get my boat uncovered and ready to go. Doesn't quite look good enough for that yet. If anyone is trying Sunday and needs a fishing partner, PM me. Wayne
  13. Anyone have a cooler/seat approximately 36" wide? If not, anyone know a local place that sells them in Central/Western NY? I like to do business locally if I can. I'm looking for something like this: http://www.rivermarinesupply.com/xcart/ ... _2200.html
  14. Out of Taughannock, if the wind is out of the West you will be fine unless really windy. If out of the east and not too bad you should be fine. If out of the North and Blowing...don't even consider going out.

    spots???

On the U.S. side I believe they fish quite a bit in the Henderson Harbor area. Du côté américain, je crois qu'ils poissons un peu dans la région de Henderson Harbor.
  16. Hey Mark.... Your phone broke? Next time you need someone to go, give me a call. I actually had nothing to do on Friday and didn't do anything on Sunday either.... except watch the Bills get crushed by the Jets. I'm leaving my boat parked until March but am usually in for a winter trip if I'm not snowmobiling. Adding all kinds of new goodies on my boat this spring. Can't wait to get started. Wayne
  17. You could strap one to yourself and have it actually pour the beer in your mouth!!!
  18. I'M NOT TRYING TO BE A WISE ASS. Anyone spending $8500 will probably do some research. Here is the description from Willie: *17 x 60 includes: runners on front bench, 9'6" Sawyer oars, oarlocks, stern or corner anchor release, stern anchor nest, 30 lb. anchor w/ 40' rope, painted drift boat trailer, 2-action padded seats Retail Price 7035 Special Price $5395 Found on their website at http://www.willieboats.com/packages.htm I also understand shipping could be easily $1000.00 but that leaves about $6000 worth of extras according to you. Just wondering what the extras are?
  19. What does it come with? It is $3000 less for a brand new one from Willie?
  20. Man, I wish I had an extra 10K laying around. I'd love to have this as a second boat!
  21. Got the flies. Great !!!! Thanks. I'll put them to good use. Wayne
  22. That is cool. I'm surprised the Lakers dont grown that big in the Fingerlakes. They get that big out on Western Lake Ontario though.
