Last fall i Fished Seneca caught a rainbow that had three big lampreys attached to it. Poor fish looked like death warmed over. Killed the three lampreys and let the fish go. I never fished the finger lakes until I moved to Seneca County 27 years ago, i was always a walleye fisherman on Oneida Lake. Not living far from Berry's Bait and tackle on route 5 and 20 and Roy's Marina . I used to go to Berry's and ask him the how to questions to fish Seneca Lake. That's where I bought my copy of the Holdren handbook (I think it was about $6.50)I read that book from cover to cover I don't know how many times till it was embedded in my brain. I learned how to set up a seth green rod and fish it the old school way. I still got least one rig rod going in my spread. I now fish a Seth green rod with new school gear. like spin Doctors and flies dodgers and flies cowbells and spinning glows and so on .Less I look forward to reading your book too, and I enjoyed meeting up with you trading stories and techniques I'm still using your googly eye flies and your beaded spring clips. Not a question it needed repair and the repairs could have been done long ago.For the people that come from out-of-state used the Lake a couple times a year paying an extra few bucks no big deal. The people that have an empire pass and the local people that use the launch on a weekly basis are going to have to pay on a regular basis. If New York state takes the launch off the list I'm concerned they will do this at other launches also . Will have to wait and see I guess . Maybe pay to get into the park and pay to use the Marina.. Anybody fishing Seneca Lake now is most likely to be perch fishing. and you are not going to get any information on that type fishing. The D E C held a state of the lake meeting. New question on winterizing the boat. I've always taken my batteries out put them inside and forget about them till spring . Last winter left the batteries in boat with out doing a thing to them ( reason was in a divorce didn't know I get to keep the boat) . Come spring they were fine . Today I put in a 2 bank charger and going leave the batteries again this winter. I noticed when installing the charger and maintenance the batteries they were manufactured in 2013 I was surprised the batteries are that old. The more rods / lines out or wider spread . The boat control is critical. so you need a second guy or a third guy that could help set lines. driving the boat standing in the center of the boat and looking out backwards will end up in mess fast . I think the above Post and yourself has answered your own question. I find having a positive attitude and the will to experiment and learn gose a long ways.
