  1. Something I just figured out is YouTube only plays video up to 30fps so it does not make sense to record higher then that unless you want slow motion edits. Turns out my computer is a bit faster as well. Im thinking the battery BacPacs might be the way to go. 50 dollars but it should last 4 to 5 hrs. I missed a fish that put a good show on and I did not hear the camera die. the only other option that I like is to use the Skelton case 40 dollars and plug the USB cable into what ever power source available. 2. Seneca brown trout today. Rainy and using the gopro. Sorry but its very wet so use this as a learning tool! ... ata_player[/url] [ Post made via iPhone ]
  3. Nice job! I'm enjoying your photo updates on Facebook! [ Post made via iPhone ]
  4. Water was clear today but some pockets of debri. 48 degrees down 25 ft. It was slow and wet but 2 browns and a real nice landlock that jumped like he wanted a gold medal. Hooked jaw as well. Small lls but we had to work hard for what we got [ Post made via iPhone ]
  5. LLs and browns are scattered all over right now. I was doing a lot of jigging on cayuga a month ago and we were catching the LLs in about 15ft of water on the ultra lights. Lakers are the ones that are deep right now along with a majority of the bait. They are a blast this time of year to catch though. 500' or 600' copper will get you to them or wire/dipsy 300' out
  6. Here is a video I done up. Sorry but I had the wrong link but it right now.
  7. I love the gopro. Just wish I had another battery yesterday. Missed a lot of good footage but I picked one up so it should not be a problem again:) [ Post made via iPhone ]
  8. Launched out of Clute park and trolled the east shore for about 2 1/2hrs with out nothing. Crossed the lake and we hooked up with a laker. Thats all we needed to get started. We got into the browns for awhile. Nothing huge but all of them were on the riggers so they put a good fight on. One of the browns managed to eat all 3 of my rigger spoons. The spoons fell out before I could get a picture of that. I'm assuming the brown took out the other 2 riggers on the way up and the spoons slid down the line. It was a good day overall Browns, LL's and the occasional laker, but no rainbows. The fish were all over but most were down 50 ft or less in all depths. We ran mostly spoons. Hope to see you guys out there.
  9. Batteries are 23 dollars at target after tax. I just picked up another battery myself. External hard drives are the way to go if you want to keep all or most of your footage. Now if you keep up and edit what you want and discard the rest you won't use as much memory. Another suggestion is to upload to YouTube. Free storage. Just change to private viewing and it won't be public. YouTube also has editing on their site but I don't know how it is. I bought Pinnacle Studio hd editing for $60 at Walmart. It works with mp4 files that gopro records in. Windows movie maker is great but I could not get the update that converts the file over. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  10. I Don't know how I missed this post but Rod you did a fantastic job! Congrats
  11. I had one of those with a bull barrel. It was one of my best shooting 22s I have owned but after a while I had issues with it misfiring. Especially in the cold, but one thing I could remember about that gun is it always jammed. What worked best for me was CCI Segmental or Stinger ammo. It used to be quik shot. This ammo is much hotter then its compeditors. More $ though. One thing I found that helped was cleaning it. Oil it up then wipe all the oil off as best you can. A little lead bid up is not neccesary a bad thing either. Inspection of the internal parts as well for wear but I just think these 22's are not as reliable as they should be. I'm trying not to be negative about Savage rimfires and I would suggest taking it to a good gunsmith but honestly I don't think they are worth the money nor the headache. I have since bought a ruger 10/22 and put tens of thousands of rounds through it of all sorts of different ammo and I can only think of having 1 jam since I have owned it. I still get the occasional misfire but thats just cheap ammo. I have known several people now that have had a 10/22 now for 30 + years with the same results. I have heard the 10/22 jamming a lot with certain high capacity mags but I only use the standard 10rd mags. Good Luck
  12. Little late but here some pictures from the storm
  13. I'm not the resident Seneca Lake junkie but they're lots of fish on the south end, but you got to find them. Stinger spoons and Dreamweaver spoons are very popular on the fingerlakes and Lake O. I use a lot of BigWeenie Flies myself. Some flies that have been designed for Seneca are ReelHookedup, Ballzonachin and Seneca Gostfly. You can thank Jason and Reelhookedup for them Some guys still use the Dodgers but most are using SpinDoctors and ProTrolls. Riggers are excellent. We also use a lot of standard size dipsys on the wire rods. Also, copper rods varing in lengths from a 100' to 600'. 300' is probably the most popular year round or at least for me. Leadcore is another popular presentation on the fingers. Keep reading the post on the fingers. They will steer you in the right direction to where the fish might be. Good luck.
  14. Nice Brown! I did not know it was May yet
  15. 2 types of rods are used for wire. Rollor rods, are probably one of the best but expensive. Shimano Talora Rollors rods run about 249.99 but worth it. Okuman Blue diamond rods are nice and run about $110. Then there are downrigger or dipsy rods. All they need is a Twillie Tip and you will be set to run wire. I prefer and run 10' Eagle Claw Starfire Rods. Rods just are a blast to fight fish on. Heres a pic! Fleas don't usually start showing up until June and stay around through August I think. Someone has a good post on the fleas somewhere on this forum.
  16. Shadster, As said before there is not much difference in price from wire and power pro when you are buying both of them too spool one reel. 1000' of wire is reel nice cause in accompedates big salmon and their long runs. You don't need any backing with 1000' of wire. Fleas don't stick to wire as bad and wire cuts through fleas no problem. Powerpro is nice stuff but fleas just love it. I just got 1000' of 30lb torpedo wire for 32.99 last week. Sturgeonx- As far as reels go Okuma Convector 30's are what I use. I like Okuma Clarion 30's as well. They have the high speed retrieve. You can get them on Ebay new for $111 delivered. Diawa Salist reels are popular. They too have the high speed retrieve. Shimano Tekota 600lc is probably the most popular in the salmon world. You can get the Shimano reel brand new on Ebay for 162.99 delivered. Hope this helps
  17. Not to beat a dead horse but do your self a favor and look for a 4stroke with Power tilt, Electric Start and long shaft. You wont be disapointed. Its the one purchase for your boat that pays for itself in fuel savings.
  18. See what you did. I just had to put another order in myself. But I was just looking at the Okuma clarions with the line counters and I wish I would have ordered 2 of them. Ebay you can get the 30's for 111 delivered to the door. High speed retrieve is nice but I'm happy with the convectors.
  19. I don't know if you can or not but if can throw your kayaks in the water at Ithaca's Yaht club on the west shore or right at treman but you will paddle a little ways and be exposed to a north wind if its bad out. The entire west shore line is awesome and is protected from the wind even when its gets real bad out. I was there a few weeks ago jigging with the ultra light rods with a small jig head and gulp flat head minnow plastic bait. We were pounding the LL salmon. Good fight as well. I know a lot of guys who troll with their kayaks. You can do the same with the setup I mentioned or use some stick baits as well. Drifting is effective as well. Perch fishing is really good too on the south end on the flats. Anywhere from 10 to 30 ft of water, but they can be hard to find. When you do find them throw a marker in the water so you can stay on them. This time of year it is non stop action. Im not really sure where you want to fish on cayuga but if you need more info or other good spots on Cayuga, PM me. Good luck.
  20. ebay has a pair new delivered for 179.99. It took 4 days to delivernthem to my house
  21. I'm sure the rain is helping. Tremans launch is low and launching is not to bad. The problem is in front of the launch it's only a foot deep. If you get past that your golden. Stay in the middle and hug the red lighthouse. It never drops below 5 ft but if you go by the white light house past it comes up to about 2 ft. hope this helps [ Post made via iPhone ]
  22. Use 30's for wire. I run a 1000' of 30lb on mine. Lenght can be more of a preference but most run 10' rods. 10' lets you lay your rods flat off the boat and clear the riggers. Also, gives you the backbone you need with the resistance of wire, dipsy and flasher fly. I like the Eagle starfire rods with a twilly tip. You don't need twilly tips if you use a roller rod.
  23. I hear yah. This sport can be pricey. I think the 7.5 will do just fine and even if your not really satisfied with it. People are always looking for them on craigslist. Buying a kicker probably is the 1 and only purchase that actually pays for its self.
  24. Can't go wrong with 9.9 or the 15. They are just about the same thing. Just depends on what kind of deal you can get. 7.5 should be enough as long as its a 2 cylinder engine and a long shaft. Not meaning 2 stroke. Its just going to work a little harder and might not last as long doing the same job. Also, 4stroke is the way to go. Its better on fuel, quieter and burns way cleaner so you won't have the smog choking you Not essential but do your self a favor and buy one with power tilt and electric start. You will save your back. The expense of a kicker will pay for its self not to mention all the benefits you will gain. Leading competitors I recommend would be Yamaha, Honda and Mercury. I have a 15hp 4stroke yamaha with power tilt, electric start and remote control. No complaints. It may have paid for itself in a year and if not certainly this year it will have. Good hunting
