  2. Selling my Garmin auto pilot. Unit was installed on a Honda 8hp kicker, different motor may require a different throttle controller from Garmin. Great addition to any trolling enthusiast. Remove yourself from the steering wheel and have incredible control of the throttle. I was able to increase in .1 mph increments. Perfect for anyone that wants to relax and not worry when netting fish. The only reason I'm changing is I want a bow mount for more multi species and I decided to get one with Ipilot to kill 2 birds with one stone. I'm selling unit for $2000 Canadian obo (approx $1400-1500 usd) and can ship anywhere in Canada or North East USA. Will have pics available within a week but don't miss out, these never come available for sale. Contact: Bob by email at [email protected]
  3. People that say walleye are no fun to catch aren't catching big ones that's for sure. A walleye is no king obviously but catch a 12 lb eye in August and tell me it's not fun and that they don't fight.
  4. I use my rods for every species. 30lb mono on riggers and also troll for eyes with boards. Same with 30lb braid on dipsys and use for boards also. I don't use leaders either and catch just fine.
  5. I've always done well on purples. Irredescant reef runner 800, purpledescent td-11, purple jointed husky jerk.
  6. I think it's relative to what conditions you fish in. For instance you could get a 22' boat but if you prefer not to fish in chop or big waves then it won't make a big difference. Certainly there is comfort in having a bigger boat on the big lake and the q for the Nasty November days. I have a 19' Starcraft with a 130 etec and 8hp Honda kicker. Setup works well for me in the same applications you are doing. I will say it's only a filler boat until I can get a ranger 620fs with a 250 etec and 9.9 or 15hp kicker. Also keep in mind aluminum is lighter and easier to tow but glass is much more comfortable in rough water and feels more solid when hitting waves. Personally if I were you, if I planned on having the next boat for a long time, I'd be getting a 20-21 foot, split windshield, fibreglass boat with maxed out horsepower for the hull and a 9.9 Kicker.
  7. Main duck would be great but not in a small boat. It gets ugly out there and is also a long run. There is great smallie fishing along Wolfe island and in many spots around Kingston. Lots of rock structure to hold them.

    Keep vs release

The way I understand the regs , u can only have in your freezer one limit per licensed angler in the home. That said they don't enforce it at all.
  9. See them like that all the time trolling in deep water. Air bladder.

Lots of good opinions. I like the discussion. I wonder whether the Brb fish are the same population as quinte in the fall and how the slr plays into it. Could be 3 separate population bases. Salmon migrate all over western lake o so could walleye do the same?

The walleye fishery isn't put and take on Canadian side, are there a lot of walleye stocks happening in ny? We rely heavily on natural reproduction up here.

Just curious what people's habits are with regards to Lake Ontario walleye. Not trying to start a flame war or anything like that as we are all legally aloud to keep fish with the proper license. Personally I keep probably 5-10 fish per year. One, because they are generally too large and not as tasty as little guys Two, I believe in conservation, especially with larger fish. I was out Saturday and we caught 5 walleye between 4-11lbs and all went back. I know in Canada we are only legally allowed to possess one limit in our freezer, is this the same in New York? It actually hurts me seeing 10lb + walleye being kept to eat. I have kids and want them to enjoy trophies also. (Don't kill me for this post pls, just curious)
  13. Look for offshore snap weight kit. Bass pro or most big box dealers have them. A lot of independent shops do also.
  14. Never caught a carp trolling. I bet the hit was crazy

    Shoal walleyes

Anyone having any luck out on the shoals yet or are they still in the bay's? Our shoal bite on the north side is a bit behind schedule so far. Water seems very clear this year compared to last although surface temp is similar. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. If leaving from Kingston you will want to hit main duck island area. Spoons or flasher flies or meat like above.
  17. Nice boat. I didn't realize evinrude made Mercury back then...
  18. We marked like that last week and were surrounded by midges or flies. I thought that was what we marked as they were flying off the surface all around us. This was in 30-50 fow mind u
  19. It's a different fight. 1 to 1 ratio so it's more challenging. I've used them a few times and enjoyed it a lot.
  20. Thousands of possible worm harnesses. Different blades, colours, hooks etc. I personally like Northland tackle ones or big eye custom tackle. But again, many many many different colours to work with.
  21. Issues with some of the drags. On the ones I've used, first generations, I found the drag would loosen a bit on its own and and sometimes it would be difficult to set just right. Either too loose or too tight. Once you get used to them, they are nice. Some of these issues are already resolved. I plan on buying some convectors. Can't justify the difference in price.
