  1. I did not know that.....thank goodness I decided to stay around here and fished out on Lake O. i saw the waves near shore this morning and it wasnt that bad!
  2. where can you get out on the south end of cayuga? Taughannock Falls State Park. Tight Lines!
  3. Current forecast is getting worse! Saturday Night...South winds 10 to 15 knots becoming southwest. Waves 2 to 4 feet. Sunday...Southwest winds 15 to 25 knots. Waves 5 to 7 feet Depending on exactly where you are, and how much "bluff" or land coverage you actually have, it can get hard to crash near shore if it gets this windy and not sure what you will find in the way of fish, if the water is all turned up. IMHO I was hoping to get out Sunday as well, with my 19foot grady, but am starting to think south end of Cayuga for landlock's might be better! Be safe if you do go!
  4. Yeah...my dad always said "A bad day of fishin' is better than a good day of work!" it was definately better on the water. Catching fish is a bonus!
  5. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Outta'Line ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 3/7/12 Time on Water: 4 hours Weather/Temp: Warm - 50-60's, mostly sunny Wind Speed/Direction: 10mph out of the S / SW Waves: 1, building to 2+ Surface Temp: 34.2-34.8 Location: West out of Sodus to Maxwell LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 5 Total Boated: 4 Species Breakdown: All browns, largest 7lb Hot Lure: Orange Chartruese Thunderstick Trolling Speed: 1.9 - 2.1 GPS Down Speed: Boat Depth: 10-15 fow Lure Depth: planers and rigger about 4 foot down ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Got on the water around 8:30 and set up heading west out of the chute. Wind out of the south was pretty strong, but was more manegable once you got past the beach and lighthouse and had the cover of the bluffs. Water was clear all the way past the lighthouse, but still managed to pick up the 7lb brown on a floating, jointed Rapala Fire tiger. After that, the only hits were on the orange chart thunderstick. It was sporatic. 20 minutes later got into another brown and lost it.....30 minutes another fish, an hour later, another fish. Trolled all the way to Maxwell, with nice stained water in front of the trailer park and again as you approached that cove at the point just before Maxwell. Got nothing and trolled back and got nothing, until one more small brown near the beach in 10fow of water and that was it! Still it was a beautiful day....warm breeze.... of course that kicked up more and more from the SW almost West at times and it was rolling pretty good 2-3 foot by the time i called it a day. Still this was the earliest I have ever gotten out, and it was good to breathe the Lake Air again! Now lets hope Sunday is nice again. PS: All in all the lake was pretty void of any debris....which was nice... Tight lines... Jason
  6. Two 8'6" Heddon downrigging poles with Shimano Levelwind 100G Triton reels. These have a 4.3/1 ratio and can hold 330yards of 14lb test mono. The Star Drag systems on these reels are amazing and I hate to part with them, but have changed my set ups and don't need these extra rods/reels lying around if someone else can use them. $40 each. Leave me a response or PM and i will get back to you. Jason (PS: live in Ontario,NY but can bring to the LOTSA this weekend....)
  7. Nice...... I called my storage place to get the boat ready to be pulled out....not just need to fix the master cylinder on the tilt/trim. All reels/rods are "locked and loaded"....Maybe 1-2 weeks!!!!
  8. This morning as i headed south on Route 414 (near North Rose) towards work, someone was pulling their boat north, heading to what i assumed will be sodus. Since they were outfitted with riggers and a 21-22 foot cruiser, I assumed that might be whose out there now. Looked alot like an 1980's brown Penn Yan or possibly Thompson. Boy did it make me want to turn around and head back home for my boat. That is of course, til i remember it was still winterized in storage! A couple more weeks.....a couple more weeks......a couple more weeks!!!!
  9. I am so pulling the boat out of storage in the next week or so! Been puzzling and puzzling, til my puzzler was sore......That 'Brown Trout please no' was too much to take!!!! Nice job and thanks for the posts!
  10. Definately love the 3 rod rule. I throw most of my catches back, so its not like its taking anymore fish outta of the lake. It just allows me alone, or me and my son, to run more lines and cover more water. I never did understand the only 2 lines, when I could throw 5 in the water on ice!
  11. the ending to that video is priceless. Awesome that it was captured on film!!!!!!!!
  12. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Outta Line ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 9/25 Time on Water: 7:30am - noon Weather/Temp: 60's / mostly sunny Wind Speed/Direction: Calm to ENE Waves: flat calm to 1-2ft Surface Temp: 62-64 on the surface Location: Lake Ontario west of Sodus Piers LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 2 Total Boated: 1 Species Breakdown: Brown Trout... Lost the Steelie or Atlantic Hot Lure: NBK (natural born killer) Trolling Speed: 2.8-3.0 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 50-60 foot Lure Depth: 30 foot ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Fished from 7:30 to 10am without a hit (maybe one bump) trolled shallow 10-12fow and then headed out 110 fow. Came back in and found some baitfish an marks in 60 fow and was trolling west over 50fow. NBK on one rigger, green dolphin on the other and sliders on both lines...when the first fish it, ran right to the surface and jumped 3-4 times...one time completely outta the water. Had it all the way to the back of the boat...about 12-15 feet from being netted and out came the hook! re-set the lines....not 10 minutes...same depth, same area, same lure.. BAM A nice 7 lb brown and it came right outta the water as well!~!~!~! Nice fish. Had one more slider hit...but was gone by the time I got the rod released. At this point the winds outta of the ENE had really started to roll and the bite shut right down. Still was pleased with the two fish! Jay

  14. Just a quick thank you to Capt. Jim Dennis and the guys on board that helped tow my sorry hull back to Sodus Bay after the engine died. I really appreciate it!!!! Knowing that there are still great boaters and fisherman out here that will take that time is comforting. Again, THANKS JIM, if you are on here and see this! Jason
