  1. I have a superfisherman 196 with 135 hp optimax. I can get her down to 2.2 but she does not like 550 RPM's. Bags will keep her stable in rough water and allow me to keep RPM's up at speed.
  2. Warm water crappie is mushy, just like any warm water fish. Even late summer walleye taste like garbage. But crappie through the ice and into pre spawn is my favorite fish to put on a plate.
  3. I'll second Capt Vince and Thrillseeker. Not sure if he's available Memorial Day weekend but definitely worth a shot.
  4. I have a 60" terrova on my 19.5' superfisherman. I would also agree with the above but if it's that rough out, I won't be fishing anyway. Most of the time I will only use the terrova to steer while using the main for thrust.
  5. If your two stroke is oil injected then a four stroke kicker can share the same gas tank. I wish I had the money for a kicker but my 135 optimax and bags are fine for now.
  6. I do pretty good with 20# seaguar fluorocarbon leaders. Spring kings are vicious, usually teenagers that think they are 30 lbs plus. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
  7. You can get a transient slip from the town of Newfane marina. I would do it quick though as they might even have them filled already
  8. Don't get big Jon. Too many snapped booms when pulling 12 lbs plus.
  9. I love my cannons too. Mag 5st on sale at hodges marine for $361 plus shipping.
  10. I think I finally got a small team together to fish the amateur division this year. Hopefully everyone can get the time off to fish all three days. I'm excited to see what the tournament fishing is like, from a competitor standpoint rather than an observer.
  11. My buddy caught this on long last year. 31.5" and had to be 14+ lbs. we released her without a weight.
  12. We fished yesterday. Parkway side of long, all down edge mere side of long and 3/4 of the way down cranberry. Finally found some for the last hour and a half. Some slobs too.
  13. Dipseys shouldn't tangle like that. I run two on each side consistently and rarely have issues (unless it's operator error) Run one on a 3 setting with more line out in front of one on a 1 or 1.5 setting with less line out.
  14. I like the tx22 so far. Just started using them. What don't you like about them. I need another set of boards for light stuff as my 44's won't cooperate while pulling sticks for Browns.
  15. The tx 44 will pull mag dipseys according to the church website.
  16. Was that an Alumacraft? Beautiful out there today. Wish I was still out. Thought about sliding out a bit deeper after the bite died down but decided to call it a day. Water is still pretty cold, 37 in front of keg. Mostly gobies in the two Browns we kept so the emeralds haven't arrived. That spoon was our best lure today, took the bigger brown and the laker.
  17. Hit the home port for the first time this year. 5 or 6 trailers in the lot when we launched about 8:15. We tried out in front of the piers for a couple passes with no success so picked up ran to keg. Only ran 4 rods, 2 planers and two riggers. Doubled up on our first pass with both fish on the boards. Next pass produced a hard fighting lake trout off the outside rigger. My buddy had fun with him on the med. light rod. Next pass a decent brown took the spoon off one of the riggers and another cookie cutter hit the outside planer for our second double. We got one more cookie cutter and a 15" brown on the planer after a few empty passes and called it a day. Ended 7 for 7. Here is what we took fish on today, each took multiple fish.
  18. I just went through the same thing. Ended up driving to Chicago to pick up my boat, but it was a great deal. I think you will have to raise your budget a bit to find what your looking for. There was a 1998 superfisherman 176 in massena, ny for $8500
  19. The plant is barely operational anymore. Only a few days a month.
  20. Tx44 are inline boards meant to be run on your fishing line. You will want rivieras, big Jon otter boats, or make some customs to use on your mast. It all depends on what you're pulling.
  21. X4. Those black and orange spoons have caught many kings for us from the 80's and 90's to the last 5 yrs I've been back on the lake. I like to move fast and 90% of my spoons are NK blanks
  22. Jigs, kwikfish, bass shiners, swimbaits. Whatever they want that day. Or should I say whatever you can confidently fish in that current.
  23. I was thinking the same thing. That was a great spring RD. Hoping for more of the same this April.
  24. X2 on the Beckmann. Mostly muskies might have a sale soon. That's where I got mine.
