Your math is good but is based on assumptions. this information was passed on from fuel industry. I don't know where solenoid for the pump lines is within the pump. I just know what they told me. it is more than I ever thought it would be too. explains why my fuels lines have been cracking. not happy about it.

Just got back from the small engine repair shop. Big bill to get two of my trimmer's carb's rebuilt. The culprit - ethanol. I said that can't be since I only "buy" premium ethanol free gas. They asked me where do I get it and I replied fast trac. They asked me if I pumped the first two gallons into my car. I said no and they promptly tell me that it is a shared line so my first 1.5 -2 gallons of gas is whatever was pumped before me and directed me to a Sunoco with a dedicated line. I am pissed because I buy small amounts for my small engines and now I find out that I pay for one thing and get another which hits my wallet on the back end too. I know this isn't ethical but is it even legal? THE MORAL look for a designated line or pump the first two gallons into your vehicle. Rebuilt carbs are expensive.

For this angler commenting on how his goal was to catch a 50 inch tiger, it makes sense to let a 47 incher go. Maybe the adrenaline was too much for him to handle. Afterall, That is a fish of a lifetime for most people. If he gets a 50+ and presumably the record, will he mount it too? (most likely) will he keep both mounts? He could probably sell the smaller one. As far as problems go he has it pretty easy. I have many times caught a really good fish and put it on a stringer, only to calm down later and let it go. I am ok with him keeping it for the wall but logic states (by his own criteria) he should have let it go. In any case, there are worse things in the world. Like that douchebag in the article talking about killing em and throwing em in his garden. That I find extremely <insert curse words here> up. I think Justin has a good shot at getting that 50. He has put the hours in and understands the conditions he sees. But to catch one, there has to be one and odds are better if you let 36-49 inchers go back. Just sayin.

That's a nice fish. If you read the comments section below the article, it kind of gives you an insight into the ignorance of some people. If 36 inches is good maybe 40 inches is better. I don't know what you can do about the douchebags killing them out of disrespect. I also didn't realize that the record was only 50 inches in length.

As far as wasting time - I already told myself that next year I am fishing. The last 3 months of the year is excellent fishing and I am staring at squirrels no more. I will give it an honest go early and then the camo comes off and the waders go on.

Antler restrictions are not a fool proof way to attain mature bucks (with big racks which everyone associates with). Some deer will never meet them. We know the deer are there but the hunting pressure is such that the deer pattern us well and I have always said they are pretty smart. It works out though, because the herd gets healthier. My family had a terrible season this year but I will be the last person to tell you the deer were not there. Ironically: One of my best friends is a tree hugger. We get along great because of the debates that we have had. She always made the point that we call ourselves conservationists and sportsman but we intend to cull the strongest from the herd which is against all of nature's predation which always removes the weakest parts of the herd which in turn makes the herd stronger. So her point is that (and mind you she isn't anti hunting) that if we truly cared about the herd we would be culling the weakest animals first. I am thinking about Ohio/Indiana next year too. I want to know what it feels like to pass up 8pt'rs because they are too young knowing that a mature one will be coming by soon.

It seems to me that there are a lot of stories about break ins and theft from Oswego to Watertown. I know it happens everywhere but seems more prevalent in this region. Does this resinate with anyone else?

Pap, that sucks. They say you can't pick your family. We had some issues on our lake property when I was growing up. Crazy fixes a lot. The law doesn't scare away a lot of these low lifes but if they think the landowner is crazy, the word gets out not to trespass on his property or they might be taking a dirt nap. After my Dad starting making threats and talking about booby trapping the cottage, the stuff that happened in the offseason suddenly stopped. One of my favorite stories is the time we were watching our next door neighbors place and they had some howl at the moon cult or something so they had a really nice fire pit and the older teens down the lake wanted to party at it. My Mom asked them nicely and then told them they needed to leave. When they started giving her a rough time, next thing I know my Dad is up there (after getting into the bourbon) in his tighty whities pushing their old man into the car with one hand and the glock in his other hand behind his back. I don't think he needed the gun and I don't think they even knew he had it. They didn't come back. I have talked with my brother about this camp thing. He owns one and he tells me that a locked gate tells everyone that you are not there. He has no gate but he makes sure that the lawn is always mowed and he has had no issues. He told me a story of guy he knew thru his wife that was watching his property thru a web trail cam as the guy was breaking in. He called the police and had them meet him there and he printed off the picture of the guy and gave it to police and found him two counties over with dozens of stolen guns. This was another state. Point being that: sometimes perception is a stronger deterrent.

Field and Stream and Dick's have different prices on same equipment. Usually I just goto Dick's to get it cheaper but I got a smoke pole this year and Field and Stream had the stock I wanted and Dick's had the price I wanted. I went to F&S, then to Dicks (They would honor lowest price) & back to F&S and asked if they would honor it and they did. Took me about an hour, a couple of managers & several associates but Saved me $70 which I proceeded to spend justifyably. One thing to remember about Gander - check them at the register. I have caught them not ringing up not what they say on the tag or the rack. Dick's and F&S tried to get me this year with their racks of clothing that had 50% off and then I get to the register and "sorry that's not on sale" which prompted me to say that it should be on the rack with the full sheet of paper that says 50% off then. That it is a ****ty trick. If you don't pay attention you get burned. I always be direct in those situations and they keep it -Should never be rude but I don't reward that behavior. It was not like it was one article of clothing misplaced by a shopper. It was dozens of articles not on sale with the paper (50% OFF) attached to it. When I worked at Dick's we never did things like that. Our discontinued sales were phenomenol and we went above and beyond to make the customer happy - even in situations where it was undeserved. My issue with Bass Pro (Auburn) is it just seems smaller than it should be. I am looking forward to the super store in Victor. I Like Cabelas too but not as much as I use to. I think the big outfitters are having difficulty defending their sales when there are so many small businesses availlable on the internet now with superior products. I have also reverted back to the small businesses that I can drive to. I like to know what they carry so I can stop when I am in the area and pick stuff up.
