Acting on a tip from Capt. Frisby we ran to the 33 N line, set out 5 lines and wrought Mayhem on the kings and steel for about 3 hours. The 42' flasher at 84' was hooked to a fish more time then it was on the rigger. The Moonshine Mad man was sudden death to the steelheads at 61' with a 4' lead. The hot dipsy was silver with sliver flasher/green fly out 191'. A great afternoon of fishing!

  4. Nice report!! That first hour in <100 fow is always special this time of year!!!
  5. Super impressed with 45 Super -- Loaded 200' + backing onto a reel -- tangled in so bad both the backing and leader swivel were wrapped around my dipsy flasher, wadded all 200' into a ball and threw it into my trash bucket................................... ...THEN... at the end of the day when dumping my trash bucket.....I thought.....I'm going to try to unravel it..........45 min later I was loading all 200' unspliced back onto my reel....TRUE STORY there were witnesses.......................Can you do that with your copper????
  6. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Capt. Trolled out to deeper water and did well on Kings in the morning from 50-60 down right in the temp. Dipsys were quiet most of the day and riggers were active. The afternoon the bite turned to steelhead + a Coho down a bit deeper from 60 - 80. The Carbon 14 took most of the fish with the Green shorts also being active on the morning fish.
  7. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Capt. All the boats did well on a mid to offshore bite. Steels were coming from 50 - 90 on Carbons and mixed veggie stingers and kings from 80 - 120 on flashers and crabface. Dipsys with flashers were effective for the big guys out 240 - 300'. Flashers in Yellow, white/glow, white/green all with green flys were most effective. Boats fishing the 25- 27N line did more mature kings than the boats fishing 28-30N.
  8. It is always fun to watch Ed - rods flying boat out of control!!! [ Post made via iPhone ]

The same combo also took fish down 90', it was our MVP taking all but 4 of our fish today. North East troll was best, when we turned we never found them again!!!
  10. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Capt. Carl Bish/Salmo salar ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):7/27 Time on Water: 6am - 2pm/4pm - 9pm Weather/Temp:nice Wind Speed/Direction:N Waves: <2 Surface Temp: 74 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 30+ Total Boated: 21 Species Breakdown: Kings/steelhead Hot Lure: Moonshine Bad Toad early then Green SD/Green fly Trolling Speed: 3.0 Down Speed: 3.0 Boat Depth: 180-220 Lure Depth: +/-90' ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Morning and evening charters lots of small fish in the morning, big steelys and decent kings in the the afternoon. Best depths were 90' for the kings, 260' dipsys for kings and Steelhead on the dipsys in the afternoon, pulling a white/green/glow Spin Dr with any green fly. Steelheads were high in the afternoon taking silver blue/orange at 43'. The fish were being selective, once you found what they wanted you were golden, if you didn't find it you were washing lures. Coppers were hot in the morning with the geezer on the 40', Freak Eye on the 60' and Bad toad on the 80'.
  11. Nice fish!! Good to hear that the boat is running and still catching fish! Thanks for the report!
  12. The guy who owned my boat before me used 12# on walkers with out any difficulty As for your next rigger -- Buy a Scotty!!!
  13. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Capt. Carl Bish/Salmo salar ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 7-26 Time on Water: 4:30 - 7:30 Weather/Temp: Overcast some rain Wind Speed/Direction: SW 16 G23 Waves: 1-3 subsiding to <2' Surface Temp: 74 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 6 Total Boated: 4 Species Breakdown: COHO, Kings, Brown Hot Lure: White Echip/MOONSHINE blue smoothie fly Trolling Speed: 2.8 Down Speed: 2.8 Boat Depth: 150 - 200 Lure Depth: 92' ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Headed out to 70' and began a north/west troll. Trolled out to 200 fow and made a turn to a south west troll. We marked nothing on the out troll and temp was 50 down 90. We didn't go far on the SW troll when we marked a nice school of bait and the center rigger down 92' popped and began to scream!! Next it was the 315' dipsy with a green echip/MOONSHINE Atomic Melon fly taking a big COHO 12# see pic below. The White Echip down 92 would go 3 more times neting us a teenager and small brown.
  14. Do all of the spoons have the hologram of a guy taking a photo?
  15. Sterlight or rubbermaid shoe boxes, as long as you dont put too many (5-10) in them they work fine and only cost about $2. My problem is storing rigged flys alone, but I saw a cool leader box at Walmart I am going to try.
  16. Beware.........we live in a throw-a-way economy..........NOTHING is built to last I have come around to this mode of thinking: Buy the least expensive model with the options that you want when it breaks, buy another one. My grandmother died with the same fridge and stove she had when my mother was in the house --- I can't get a stove or fridge to last more than 7 years!!! On my boat I run a raymarine fish finder that I picked up on closeout for $299 and a garmin plotter that I paid $325 for in 2004. When they break -- I'll search for some other unit on closeout.........who knows maybe it will be a Furuno??? I'm just glad the X4 is a solid unit 'cause it's data is what is really important for catching fish on a daily basis.
  17. Must be they have microscopic vision too..................................
  18. If it is the one with the fuji roller guides then DO NOT USE IT FOR DIPSYS, contact me and I will take it off of your hands and give you a Heavy Shimano TDR rod in return!! No really dude it is a very good rod for wire dipsys, just bought another myself last week!!
  19. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Captain Carl Bish/Salmo salar ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):7-25 Time on Water: 6:30am - 10:30am Weather/Temp:breezy mostly sunny cool Wind Speed/Direction: NE 10 Waves: 2' Surface Temp: 74 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 11 Total Boated: 5 Species Breakdown: King, Coho, steelheads Hot Lure: Moonshine Carbon's Trolling Speed: 2.8 Down Speed: 2.8 Boat Depth: 27N Lure Depth: 55 - 95 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Found bait at the 27.5 and began to catch fish, started with 2 quick hits on the 55 and 83' Carbon's. We missed both fish, but the 83' fish seemed like a good on. Put a waypoint in and picked up a nice Coho on the turn on the 83' Carbon. Passed back over the fish and rods began flying again, steelhead and teenagers. With limited time and wanting some big king action we trolled to the 29.5N line -- no action, looks from the other reports we should have trolled to the 24N line!! Fun day with a father/daughter/son crew!
  20. Depending on your east/west line you can hit 620 then it does come back up as you go north to the border. I rarely sound the bottom when I am out over 250', I figure that I'm not going to fish down there so I only look at the top 150' -- used to be 100' but the fish seem to be deeper and out of temp this season.
  21. Nothing but MAGS for us, they were hitting all the carbons, but a homemade silver carbon was best. Here is a pic of the 2 hottest setups from the weekend for us:
