    SOUNDS LIKE THE PERFECT FATHER-DAUGHTER DAY TO ME. WE ARE GOING THROUGH THE TRANSITION PERIOD RIGHT NOW FROM SPRING TO SUMMER. THINGS WILL GET BETTER IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS OR SO. SPEND TIME WITH THE YOUNG ANGLERS. TIGHT LINES.

    to add to that i also have some of the gx2 ugly stiks in 7'6 light action with 20 series reels that are a lot of fun for browns, the only drawback is they are one piece. makes it a pain for storage and travel. '

    i have been using ugly stiks for 40 years, from spinning rods to 8'3" and 9'0" for rigger rods and board rods and 10' for divers and copper and weighted steel. (big water series) now i use the newer 9' ml for the riggers (a little more backbone than the light action, but not too much) the only difference i have noticed between the old and new models is the guides. i have never had a failure with any of them. hope this helps. tight lines for your choice on a new one.

    just get some wood paint stir sticks and put stick on velcro, they work real good and won't break the bank. hope this helps.

    If you already the PS30 transducer, I think the best bang for your buck would be the ECHOMAP ULTRA 106SV (GT54 Transducer) the processing speed is supposed to be four times faster than the 7" and 9" models and the pixel count is almost doubled for better clarity. STARTING ON MARCH 9, 2023 BASS PRO AND CABELAS HAS THEM ON SALE FOR $999.99. the ps30 will plug right in. they are facinating units. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW ADVENTURE.

    another thing, if you have the otter boats, i reccomend using the ommish outfitters heavy duty snubbers. they take up a lot of the shock when the water picks-up.

    I have a hardtop with the tubing type frame and mounted a pair of big jon pulleys to the front corners of the top and mounted the reels on the back section of the frame. they work great. you can stay in the boat when you deploy and retrieve them. i also have double fin otter boats, that pull hard and the top frame doesn't budge an inch. good luck!
